Of potentially more interest, England vice captain Pope's County Championship average at the Oval crept into three figures when he reached nine.
He can make it to three figures for his first-class average if he reaches 148 not out.

Zaman Akhter has his first Championship wicket for Gloucestershire as Matthew Potts is caught at point.
It is four years since Akhter's only previous first-class match - for Oxford MCCU against Middlesex, when he had match figures of 0-112.

Liam Dawson cracks James Sales to the ropes for his seventh four and moves to his 47th first-class half-century.

Notts v Essex 298
Notts deny Essex a second batting point as Dane Paterson has Jamie Porter caught at third slip. Straight into Matthew Montgomery's midriff, he couldn't really drop that one.
Having been 188-3, Essex may feel slightly disappointed by their total, but had no answer to the new ball as Notts took the final five wickets for just 28 runs.
Brett Hutton returns figures of 4-69, with three wickets each for Paterson and England's Stuart Broad.
Sussex 187-4 v Glamorgan 123
Steve Smith cracks James Harris away and comes back for a third to move to 50, just his 58th in first-class cricket but his first for Sussex.
It came from 98 balls with seven fours.

Lewis Gregory pulls one from Toby Roland-Jones down the hill for four to get his side a second batting point in the 90th over.
20 overs left to try to reach 450 for the maximum five.
Gloucs v Durham 369-8
A single to square leg off Zafar Gohar and Graham Clark reaches his century off 153 balls - only his second in first-class cricket.
He has hit a six and 13 fours and looks well chuffed as he acknowledges the applause.
Three balls later, though, and he falls lbw to Gohar for exactly 100 and the left-arm spinner now has 4-95.
Surrey 44-1 v Kent 278
Wes Agar is discomfiting Ollie Pope and thunders one into his pads prompting a big appeal from the cordon.
Looks to be drifting down leg side but it's a testing spell from Agar and Michael Hogan in the lengthening shadows at the Oval.

A gorgeous cover drive to the fence from Liam Dawson off James Sales is followed two balls later by a slightly less gorgeous but no less effective one from Keith Barker.
Dawson keeps stretching out his hamstring. He's certainly not 100% out there.

All boundaries so far for Leicestershire - two each for Rishi Patel and Sol Budinger. The Foxes lead by 106 but based on what has happened already today, it would be a big surprise if these two are still together at the close.
Sussex 182-4 v Glamorgan 123
A misfield from big Timm van der Gugten at mid-on gifts Steve Smith a welcome four.
A few balls later, Zain ul-Hassan offers width and that is thumped through the covers for four more.
He is within three of a maiden Sussex half-century.
That last four brought up a half-century stand between him and young James Coles.

A square cut and a pull shot off Zaman Akhter, both for four, and Graham Clark is 99 not out for Durham at Bristol.

Doug Bracewell is in no man's land as the ball jags back off the seam and he can only chop it down into his stumps as he doesn't have enough room for the cut he was contemplating.
Nine down now, and Essex will probably be content just to add the nine runs needed for a second batting point.
Durham have lost another wicket at Bristol, with Ben Raine lbw to Zafar Gohar for two.
The visitors are 350-7 - so they have a third batting point - with Graham Clark still there on 91.
