  1. Tea at Trent Bridgepublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 18 May 2023

    Notts v Essex 205-5

Just a single for Adam Rossington from the final over before tea at Trent Bridge.

It has been Nottinghamshire's session, despite the addition of 119 runs, as they picked up four wickets, including Alastair Cook (72) and Dan Lawrence (16).

Brett Hutton and Dane Paterson have two wickets each, but Stuart Broad was unable to add another victim after having Nick Brownce lbw in the fifth over of the morning.

  2. 100 runs

up for Sussexpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 18 May 2023

    Sussex 102-3 v Glamorgan 123

High up on to his toes and punched through the offside to the ropes. That is classic Steve Smith.

He moves into double figures and the 100 is up for Sussex.

  3. wicket

WICKET Azhar c Hill b Wright 0published at 16:02 British Summer Time 18 May 2023

    Worcs 0-1 v Leics 173

    Chris WrightImage source, Rex Features

Back out there again following an early tea which followed the end of Leicestershire's first innings - and they already have a wicket.

Chris Wright's fifth delivery sends back Azhar Ali, who can only edge a perfect leg-cutter through to the keeper.

  4. Tea at Bristolpublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 18 May 2023

    Gloucestershire v Durham 240-5

Durham added 113 during the afternoon session, but the loss of three wickets has dented their hopes of achieving a really big total.

Scott Borthwick (53) and David Bedingham (40) put on 63 but departed in successive overs with the score on 149.

And Ollie Robinson fell for 38 to an excellent catch by keeper James Bracey, standing up to the stumps. They are only 10 short of a batting point and will be grateful for having lower order depth to come.

  5. 50 runs

for Joey Evisonpublished at 15:57 British Summer Time 18 May 2023

    Surrey v Kent 217-9

He deserves this applause. What a vital knock.

His second half-century of the season and third of his career is brought up with a sumptuous straight drive off Dan Worrall, his seventh four to go with a six in his 77-ball stay.

  6. 200 runs

up for Kentpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 18 May 2023

    Surrey v Kent 213-9

Michael Hogan brings up the 200 with a meaty drive through the covers for four and in the next over Joey Evison moves onto 46 with an almighty hooked six off a short ball from Dan Worrall.

Hogan continues to wag the tail with a punch down the ground off Jordan Clark for another boundary.

Surrey just showing hints of frustration.

  7. Could be 'more twists' at New Roadpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 18 May 2023

    Worcestershire v Leicestershire 173 - tea

    Dan Wheeler
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

Both sides will think they've had a decent day so far with a session to go on day one.

If you'd given Brett D'Oliveira a total of under 200 after sticking the opposition in, he would've taken it.

Likewise, after being 117-7, to get to 173 is rather better than Leicestershire were fearing.

Joe Leach and Matthew Waite claimed three wickets apiece and Adam Finch, whose hostility changed the momentum took a couple, as did Ben Gibbon, who collected two from round the wicket to clean up the Foxes innings after struggling for rhythm to that point.

The Foxes will be mindful of the Pears' fragility with the willow in recent games. Five times this summer they've lost half the team with fewer than 100 on the board. Could still be some twists to come.

  8. Tea at Lord'spublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 18 May 2023

    Middlesex v Somerset 212-3

George Bartlett heads off for a 20-minute break, unbeaten on 114 as Somerset have enjoyed a super middle session.

They scored 116 runs and but for the loss of captain Tom Abell for 77, it would have been faultless.

Plenty of graft left for the Middlesex attack after tea.

  9. Smith at the creasepublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 18 May 2023

    Sussex 95-3 v Glamorgan 123

There is a larger than normal crowd in at Hove today and many of them have come to see Steve Smith in what is his only home game in his three-match stint with the county.

He made 30 and three in his other two innings. Surely he has something substantial in his locker for them?

And Michael Neser obliges by offering him a wide half-volley to get his first four. That is a gift for a player of Smith's undoubted quality.

  10. Tea at New Roadpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 18 May 2023

    Worcestershire v Leicestershire 173

Ben Gibbon takes two wickets in three balls to bring Leicestershire's first innings to a rapid end.

Colin Ackermann inside edges into his stumps on 52 as he attempts an extravagant cover drive.

And number 11 Will Davis follows, lbw for a duck, to leave loan signing Josh Davey on nought not out.

  11. Tea at Southamptonpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 18 May 2023

    Hampshire 210-4 v Northamptonshire

It's certainly been Hampshire's afternoon, though Ben Brown's departure for 44 not long before tea has at least given Northants something to show for their efforts on a placid track.

Alex Russell the debutant leggy has shown glimpses that there will be something for Mason Crane to work with when Northants get to bat, but that might be some time, with James Vince ominously poised on 60 and Liam Dawson on six as the players troop off.

  12. wicket

WICKET Pujara lbw b Neser 0published at 15:43 British Summer Time 18 May 2023

    Sussex 83-3 v Glamorgan 123

Chesteshwar Pujara has failed. I repeat, Chesteshwar Pujara has failed!

The Sussex captain is out for a 10-ball duck.

Michael Neser had already had one loud LBW appeal in the over, but he gets his man from the last ball spearing one into the pads on middle and leg.

From 76-0, Glamorgan have come roaring back into this.

  13. wicket

WICKET Critchley c Clarke b Hutton 12published at 15:42 British Summer Time 18 May 2023

    Notts v Essex 199-5

Essex lose their third wicket for the addition of only 25 runs as Matt Critchley appears caught in two minds from a ball by Brett Hutton and tamely edges to the keeper.

Simon Harmer comes out to bat and Adam Rossington gets off the mark in the next over with a cover drive for four off Stuart Broad.

  14. wicket

WICKET Bhuiyan c Foakes b Worrall 2published at 15:42 British Summer Time 18 May 2023

    Surrey v Kent 196-9

Three wickets for Dan Worrell. Debutant Arafat Bhuiyan flashes a drive at Dan Worrall and feathers a nick to Dom Sibley who clutches infront of his throat at first slip.

Michael Hogan joins Joey Evison, who is on 40, in the middle.

  15. 6 runs

Postpublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 18 May 2023

    Middlesex v Somerset 200-3

Off the mark with a six!

Tom Kohler-Cadmore greets the part-time of Sam Robson by dispatching him back towards the Lord's pavilion for a maximum.

TKC is never one to die wondering!

  16. 200 runs

up for Hampshirepublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 18 May 2023

    Hampshire 203-4 v Northamptonshire

James Vince brings up the 200 with a reverse sweep off spinner Rob Keogh... it's that time of year I suppose.

He's onto 58 and according to BBC Radio Solent commentator Kevan James has apparently only been dismissed once this season at the Ageas.

  17. wicket

WICKET Abell c Eskinazi b Higgins 77published at 15:36 British Summer Time 18 May 2023

    Middlesex v Somerset 193-3

There will be no century today for Tom Abell!

The Somerset captain has batted very nicely and put his side in a good position, but he is a bit loose as he tries to drive Ryan Higgins.

The ball goes low to Stevie Eskinazi at a short gully and he makes no mistake for a third catch of the innings.

That ends a partnership of 183 between Abell and centurion George Bartlett.

  18. wicket

WICKET Alsop lbw b Neser 3published at 15:35 British Summer Time 18 May 2023

    Sussex 81-2 v Glamorgan 123

Tom Alsop was given his Sussex county cap this morning, but he can't make a real contribution with the bat today.

Michael Neser goes fuller and traps him absolutely plumb in front, coming round the wicket.

Cheteshwar Pujara is now making his way to the crease.

  19. Latest from Division Twopublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 18 May 2023

Worcestershire have broken the eight-wicket partnership at New Road with Chris Wright lbw to Joe Leach for 30. Josh Davey - newly arrived on loan from Somerset - is now out there with Colin Ackermann and Leicestershire are 173-8.

Gloucestershire now have Zafar Gohar and Zaman Akhter operating in tandem at Bristol where Durham are 230-5 and closing in on a first batting point, with Graham Clark 31 not out.

  20. 100 runs

for George Bartlettpublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 18 May 2023

    Middlesex v Somerset 193-2

    George BartlettImage source, Rex Features

Luke Hollman offers him width and George Bartlett wristily sends it to the cover boundary. Terrific stuff!

A seventh century for Bartlett and his first since last September.

Of the 14 times he has reached 50, he has converted 50% of those into three figures, which is some going.

This knock has come off 174 balls with 18 boundaries.
