It's been a good day so far for Sussex and England's Ollie Robinson, but what about his Durham namesake?

Not bad at the moment as he comes down the pitch and strikes spinner Zafar Gohar for a handsome six over long-on.

Robinson is 22 not out and Graham Clark has 14.

    Sussex 28-0 v Glamorgan

The T20 Blast starts officially on Saturday, but nobody seems to have told the Sussex openers!

Ali Orr follows Tom Haines' lead as he launches a Michael Neser delivery straight back over the bowler's head and follows it with a lovely straight drive.

Nine off the over, 29-0 after only three overs and the deficit is down to 94 already.

    Hampshire 147-3 v Northamptonshire

Right-arm spinner Alex Russell airs one out to Ben Brown who plays the wrong line, completely misses the ball and sees his bails whipped off by Ricardo Vasconcelos.

The celebrations begin but the umpires are having none of it. He didn't leave his crease.

Encouraging signs for the youngster, and also some hope for the likes of Mason Crane and Liam Dawson sat on the Hampshire balcony, you'd imagine.

Brown and James Vince have added 59 so far to wrestle back the initiative for the hosts.

A loose shot by Alastair Cook, who drives at a ball from Dane Paterson without moving his foot towards the pitch of the ball.

It flashes to second slip where Calvin Harrison picks up a brilliant catch diving to his left.

Notts badly needed that wicket, which ends a 135-run partnership with Tom Westley. Cook has still to register a hundred this season.

    Sussex 20-0 v Glamorgan 123

Netherlands bowler Timm van der Gugten has 28 Championship wickets in five matches so far this season.

But Tom Haines hits van der Gugten's second, third and sixth balls to the boundary to make a flying start to this Sussex innings.

    Surrey v Kent 135-7

Good looking square drive to the fence off the back foot from Joey Evison makes it nine off the latest Jordan Clark over and dulls his eye-catching figures somewhat.

Wes Agar has picked up nine from 13 balls, a straight drive from Evison off Sean Abbott takes him to 13 from 33.

Tom Westley reaches 50 from 128 balls with a pull shot which just eludes the diving fielder on the mid-wicket boundary and criosses the rope for four.

It's his second half-century of the season, to go with an innings of 148 against Kent.

We now have spin at Trent Bridge, with left-armer Liam Patterson-White into the attack for Notts.

His two overs have both yielded a boundary, the latest dabbed deftly down to third man by Alastair Cook, who is 71 not out.

His stand with Tom Westley is now worth 124.

George Bartlett greets the first over of spin from Luke Hollmann with two boundaries, the second of which is a thumping drive through the covers.

    Gloucs v Durham 160-4

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Durham were going along nicely after lunch but as often happens in cricket, one wicket led to two.

Scott Borthwick had just reached 50 for the 80th time in first-class cricket when he clipped a ball from Ajeet Singh Dale to Chris Dent at short fine leg. He was out for 53, having put on 63 with David Bedingham for the third wicket.

It was also relief for Dent, who dropped him in the slips off the same bowler this morning, when Borthwick was on 20.

Bedingham then mis-timed a pull in the next over and played a tame shot to debutant Zaman Akhter at mid-wicket, off Matt Taylor when on 40.

Durham now have a bit of re-building to do against a seemingly weakened Gloucestershire on a pitch which looks good for lots of runs. It's a lovely sunny day as well. And warm. Something sadly lacking for much of the season, so far, in these parts.

    Middlesex v Somerset 134-2

Plenty of sunglasses on in the stands at Lord's. It's a welcome sight after many of the rain-interrupted matches that we have had in these opening weeks.

There is also a lovely gentle burr, proving once again why it is such a magical place to watch a game of cricket.

Against this backdrop, Middlesex are toiling to find a way of dismissing Tom Abell or George Bartett.

  16. Postpublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 18 May 2023

    Notts v Essex 126-1

A false shot by Alastair Cook as Dane Paterson finds the edge of a new over, but it runs away between second slip and gully for the ninth boundary of his innings.

And there is a left-off for Tom Westley as Ben Slater is unable to cling onto a top-edged chance.

Despite that, Notts have tightened things up a bit since lunch, without achieving a breakthrough, and we have yet to see either of their two spinners, Calvin Harrison and Liam Patterson-White.

Debutant spinner Alex Russell, who turned 21 last month, comes into the Northants attack and produces a tidy first over which is respectfully negotiated by James Vince and Ben Brown. Just the one from it.

Lovely stuff from Dan Worrall who eventually gets his man. This one drifts back in on Grant Stewart the right-hander and pins him dead infront. This time the finger goes up.

Wes Agar, making his final Kent appearance, joins Joey Evison.

GLAMORGAN ALL OUT FOR 123published at 14:21 British Summer Time 18 May 2023

Sussex v Glamorgan 123 all out

No five wickets for Ollie Robinson as Aristides Karvelas finishes off the innings.

That is catching practise for Steve Smith at second as last man Jamie McIlroy guides the ball into his hands.

Karvelas ends with 3-30, while Robinson's figures are 12-4-29-4.

James Harris' 28 not out is actually the highest score of a pretty poor effort with the bat.
