  1. dropped catch

Dropped catch at Lord'spublished at 18:19 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Middlesex 175 & 58-1 v Somerset 404

Close call for Mark Stoneman, who edges Lewis Gregory - but Tom Abell, diving at third slip, shells a sharp chance.

Sighs of relief in the Middlesex camp. They really need Stoneman to stick around until stumps if they're to go into day three with some cause for optimism.

  2. Postpublished at 18:17 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Hampshire 367 v Northamptonshire 56 & 18-1

Emilio Gay (10) and Sam Whiteman (8) have reduced the arrears to 293. Baby steps.

11 overs left in the day.

  3. Close of play at Trent Bridgepublished at 18:13 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Nottinghamshire 326-5 v Essex 298

Steven Mullaney is lbw for 27 to Doug Bracewell's penultimate ball of the day at Trent Bridge and that is stumps.

It has been a good day for the home side, who have added 313 to their overnight 13-0, with Matthew Montgomery making an unbeaten 130, having been dropped off Shane Snater on 0 and 4.

Ben Slater and Joe Clarke provided good support with 57 each, while Sam Cook claimed 3-51 for Essex.

  4. wicket

    Gloucs 214-6 v Durham 445

A big wicket for Durham as Ben Charlesworth tries to steer Bas de Leede towards third man and David Bedingham reaches up at second slip to grab an above head height catch.

Charlesworth batted for 228 minutes, faced 179 balls and hit a six and eight fours. Matt Taylor is in now to join Zafar Gohar.

  5. 50 runs

partnership for Kentpublished at 18:08 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Surrey 362 v Kent 278 & 72-1

As the South London shadows lengthen, the Surrey lead shrinks.

Tawanda Muyeye has just uppercut a rising delivery from Gus Atkinson for an incredible six over third to move to 41 from 36 balls.

Zak Crawley remains on 25 after his blistering start, these two have put on 52 in 10 overs and Kent are 12 behind.

  6. Postpublished at 18:07 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Middlesex 175 & 50-1 v Somerset 404

We've got clouds overhead at Lord's, not that Somerset's bowlers have required too much assistance from the conditions so far today.

However, they'd like to pick up another wicket or two in the nine overs that remain tonight. Mark Stoneman has progressed to 25 not out, with Stephen Eskinazi on 7 and Middlesex trail by 179.

  7. Bad light stops play at Worcesterpublished at 18:06 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Worcs 83 & 26-2 v Leics 173 & 180

That may be that at New Road as the the umpires lead the teams off with 14 overs still to bowl. Jack Haynes is 17 not out and Gareth Roderick has six.

  8. Postpublished at 18:04 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Notts 321-4 v Essex 298

Notts may be looking to keep their wickets intact but never look a gift horse in the mouth - and when Doug Bracewell is short and wide at the start of a new over, Matthew Montgomery cuts it away for four.

He has 127 and there are two more overs following this one.

  9. wicket

WICKET Azad lbw b Barkerpublished at 18:02 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Hampshire 367 v Northamptonshire 56 & 9-1

That's a pair for Hassan Azad who is pinned infront in his crease for a seven-baller by Keith Barker, having been run out without facing earlier on.

Now that's definitely Azad sad situation...

Sam Whiteman joins Emilio Gay in the middle. Still 302 behind.

  10. Postpublished at 18:01 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Gloucs 203-5 v Durham 445

Zafar Gohar finds the cover boundary off Bas de Leede and Gloucestershire have their first batting point. Another 10 overs of play remain.

  11. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Hampshire 367 v Northamptonshire 56 & 7-0

Liam Dawson has dropped Emilio Gay at second slip, despite getting two hands to the ball, for the second time this afternoon... in different innings.

I think it might even have been off Keith Barker last time too. Goodness.

Gay and Hassan Azad are presumably just taking it a ball at a time, an over as we go, and hoping they can negotiate the 16 until stumps without any more drama.

  12. wicket

WICKET Byrom c Carson b Robinson 57published at 17:55 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Glamorgan 123 & 91-1 v Sussex 481

There's no third chance for Eddie Byrom!

This time the Glamorgan opener will complete his journey back to the dressing-room after pulling Ollie Robinson into the hands of midwicket.

One down... now to see what Marnus Labuschagne can do after his first-innings failure.

  13. Postpublished at 17:52 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Worcs 25-2 - target 271

Jack Haynes and Gareth Roderick have managed to steady the Worcestershire ship after both openers went in the same over.

It's slow going, though, and Josh Davey has 2-19 from six overs with the new ball. Wiaan Mulder is now on, replacing Chris Wright.

for Eddie Byrompublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Glamorgan 123 & 82-0 v Sussex 481

Well, Eddie Byrom is certainly grasping that second chance eagerly - he's just swept Jack Carson for six to bring up his half-century from 64 balls.

Byrom has now passed 50 four times this season and he and Zain ul-Hassan have given Glamorgan hope as they try to wipe out this massive deficit.

up for Kentpublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Surrey 362 v Kent 278 & 56-1

Another edge from Tawanda Muyeye flashes past fourth slip and to the ropes to bring up the Kent half-century in the 11th over.

He then moves to 29 with a beautiful flash through the covers off Gus Atkinson for four. Seven fours. No need to waste energy.

Muyeye and Zak Crawley (22) are punishing anything wide.

  16. Postpublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Hampshire 367 v Northamptonshire 56 & 4-0

Good work from the groundstaff at Southampton. The skies have cleared and the mopping up has been a success. Every chance we see the 19 remaining overs tonight...

    Well...

Northants need 312 to make Hampshire bat again. They were bowled out for 56 earlier. Let's hope they are able to take this match into at least its third day.

Keith Barker conceded more from his second ball (2) than he did in his first five overs in the first innings.

  17. Second batting point for Nottspublished at 17:46 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Notts 307-4 v Essex 298

Steven Mullaney throws the bat at a wide half-volley from Shane Snater and four runs pushes the total past 300 and secures a second batting point for Notts.

Mullaney is 23 not out, Matthew Montgomery has 117 and there are seven overs left to be bowled on day two.

  18. wicket

WICKET Robson c Davies b Siddle 18published at 17:45 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Middlesex 175 & 27-1 v Somerset 404

No wickets for Peter Siddle first time around, but he's picked up the first scalp of this Middlesex second innings.

Sam Robson feathers one behind and Stephen Eskinazi comes out to replace him - on a pair.

  19. Byrom reprievedpublished at 17:44 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Glamorgan 123 & 69-0 v Sussex 481

It looked as though Ollie Robinson had the breakthrough there - and Eddie Byrom was halfway to the changing-room when he was called back.

The left-hander edged Robinson behind and Oli Carter appeared to have taken a diving catch to his left.

But the umpires conferred and it seems Carter spilled the ball as he landed. Byrom has made the most of his life, steering the next delivery to the boundary.

  20. wicket

WICKET Bracey c Bedingham b Potts 14published at 17:42 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Gloucs 189-5 v Durham 445

A beauty from Matthew Potts brings him his second wicket of the innings at Bristol.

The England paceman does enough off the seam to find the edge of James Bracey's bat and it's straight to David Bedingham at second slip.

Gloucestershire in danger of a significant first-innings deficit here unless someone can stay with Ben Charlesworth, who is 63.
