    Surrey 362 v Kent 278 & 40-1

Tawanda Muyeye is living life on the edge, literally.

He gets an ugly edge off Jordan Clark to fly over third slip and away to the fence and then top-edges a pull off Clark which falls safe and limps to the rope at deep square.

He has 16 from 10 balls but only the second of his four boundaries has showcased his trademark class.

  2. Postpublished at 17:36 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Notts 298-4 v Essex 298

Steven Mullaney drives Shane Snater through mid-off for four then adds a single and the scores are level at Trent Bridge. Nine overs to come after this one.

  3. Postpublished at 17:35 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Glamorgan 123 & 64-0 v Sussex 481

No breakthrough yet for Sussex in this second Glamorgan innings, with Eddie Byrom and Zain ul-Hassan looking nicely set on 37 and 24 respectively.

Byrom has been the more aggressive of the pair, taking two sixes off Fynn Hudson-Prentice and surviving an lbw appeal when he padded up to spinner Jack Carson.

Still 15 overs remaining tonight and the visitors trail by 294.

  4. Postpublished at 17:34 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Worcs 18-2 - target 271

Jack Haynes forces Josh Davey away square for four. It's all about attention to detail and keeping wickets intact for Worcestershire. If they stay in, they will win the game with two complete days to follow this one.

  5. Postpublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Surrey 362 v Kent 278 & 32-1

I hesitate to write this as we've been hurt before, but Zak Crawley has played some truly sumptuous front and back-foot drives already in this opening seven overs to move to 19. Can he capitalise on this start?

Tawanda Muyeye is on eight, courtesy of two fours, at the other end.

The deficit is down to 52.

  6. Postpublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Gloucs 182-4 v Durham 445

Nice shot by James Bracey, who drives away a half-volley by Ajaz Patel for four. he is nine not out and Ben Charlesworth has 61. Another 17 overs to come.

  7. Play to resume at Southamptonpublished at 17:29 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Hampshire 367 v Northamptonshire 56

The rain has cleared and although it's a touch gloomy, play is scheduled to resume at 17:45 BST after a bit of mopping up.

  8. wicket

WICKET Compton c Pope b Worrall 1published at 17:25 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Surrey 362 v Kent 278 & 20-1

    Ollie PopeImage source, Rex Features

Dan Worrall tempts Ben Compton into wafting at a quicker ball, he finds the edge and though Will Jacks spoons a sharp chance at third slip into the air, Ollie Pope reacts well to dive forward and pouch it.

Rare for Ben Compton to go so early in both innings.

Tawanda Muyeye joins Zak Crawley and gets off the mark by opening the face and glancing the first ball he sees past the slips for four.

  9. Postpublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Middlesex 175 & 5-0 v Somerset 404

Peter Siddle's reward, it seems, for that nifty run-out to end Middlesex's first innings is to open the attack in their second.

Siddle has sent down two overs at a cost of one run while Matt Henry, who took 5-45 first time around, has conceded only four from his first two.

Middlesex need 224 to make Somerset bat again.

  10. Postpublished at 17:22 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Worcs 11-2 - target 271

In theory, there are 25 overs remaining at New Road if the light holds.

Gareth Roderick and the out of form Jack Haynes are hanging in there for Worcestershire following the early loss of their openers.

Lewis Hill and Peter Handscomb showed earlier that it is possible to build a partnership, and that is what Worcestershire need right now.

  11. Postpublished at 17:20 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Notts 285-4 v Essex 298

There's a fairly short boundary on the off side and Steven Mullaney's square drive finds it from the bowling of Shane Snater. There are 13 overs remaining and Notts will be hoping Mullaney and Matthew Montgomery are still there for all of them.

  12. wicket

WICKET Taylor b Patel 16published at 17:17 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Gloucs 168-4 v Durham 445

Another one gone at Bristol where left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel claims his second wicket.

Jack Taylor leaves a gap between bat and pad as he pushes forward in defence and Patel's arm ball finds it. The bails are off.

  13. wicket

WICKET James c Rossington b Cook 28published at 17:11 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Notts 278-4 v Essex 298

    Sam CookImage source, Rex Features

You can only admire Sam Cook's accuracy and persistence and the new ball brings him his third wicket of the innings as Lyndon James tries to drive and edges to the keeper.

James added 73 with Matthew Montgomery, who has now been joined by Steven Mullaney.

  14. Postpublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Surrey 362 v Kent 278 & 11-0

    Zak CrawleyImage source, Rex Features

Zak Crawley carves Jordan Clark's first delivery away through backward point for four and two balls later comes forward to flash a drive to a similar spot for another boundary.

The deficit is down to 73 with 20 overs on the slate for this evening session.

  15. wicket

WICKET Pollock c Scriven 1published at 17:09 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Worcs 2-2 - target 271

You didn't think this was going to be dull, did you?

Worcestershire make a sorry start to their run chase as openers Azhar Ali and Ed Pollock are dsimissed by Josh Davey in the space of three balls.

Azhar completes a pair as he is caught by Wiaan Mulder at first slip and Pollock spoons a catch to Tom Scriven at mid-off from a leading edge.

  16. 50 runs

for Ben Charlesworthpublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Gloucs 152-3 v Durham 445

Short ball from Ben Raine and Ben Charlesworth pulls it for four to reach 50 from 131 balls. It's his fifth in what is proving to be a very consistent season, but he would love to go on and convert it to three figures this time.

  17. Postpublished at 17:04 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Glamorgan 123 & 37-0 v Sussex 481

Eddie Byrom seems to be practising his T20 Blast shots - the Glamorgan opener latches on to a ball from Fynn Hudson-Prentice outside leg stump and clobbers it over the fence for six.

It's been a good start by Byrom and Zain ul-Hassan second time around, scoring at more than four an over as they look to make inroads on this sizeable first-innings deficit of 358.

  18. 6 runs

Postpublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Gloucs 148-3 v Durham 445

The final session has begun at Bristol and Jack Taylor lofts Ajaz Patel over mid-on for six.

Partner Ben Charlesworth needs four more for a half-century.

    Surrey 362 v Kent 278 & 0-0

Zak Crawley and Ben Compton stride out at the Oval tasked with a tricky-looking 22 over stint in the evening sun.

    They trail by 84.

Dan Worrall takes the opening over.

  20. Postpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 19 May 2023

    Worcs 0-0 - target 271

Thirty wickets in five sessions at New Road - time for Worcestershire's run-chase. Ed Pollock and Azhar Ali are the two openers. Don't take your eyes - or ears - off this one.
