  1. wicket

WICKET Rhodes b Ball 37published at 13:44 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Notts v Warwickshire 97-2

But a couple of balls later, the Warwickshire captain has to depart.

Will Rhodes leaves one alone from around the wicket and turns to see his bails disturbed.

Two wickets for Notts, two for Jake Ball.

  2. Postpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Notts v Warwickshire 95-1

Back out at Trent Bridge, where Jake Ball - the only wicket-taker so far - bowls the first over after the interval and is met by a superb Will Rhodes drive through the covers for four.

  3. Postpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Lancashire v Hampshire 57-4

Liam Dawson strides out to join Ben Brown in the middle for the afternoon session. A slightly early resumption as Tom Bailey takes the opening over, perhaps as they only got 28 in before lunch.

Hampshire have a lot of work to do with the bat if they are to post a competitive score here.

Lancashire are winless, remember, and also unbeaten, depending on whether you are pint half-full, or half-empty, I suppose.

  4. 'Honours even at Hove'published at 13:30 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

Sussex 81-3 v Worcs - lunch, day one

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Honours about even after Sussex, having been 47-3, reached lunch without further loss.

James Coles and Oli Carter have steadied the Sussex ship after it looked like Joe Leach may rip through the Sussex top order.

Bowling a typically excellent line and length, Leach exploited early conditions beautifully and no another day might have picked up more than three wickets.

But credit to Sussex, who have battled back before lunch.

  5. 'Challenging afternoon' ahead for Somerset?published at 13:26 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

Essex 111-1 v Somerset - lunch, day one

    Don Topley
    BBC Essex

Essex have won an important toss as first-innings runs will be vital at Chelmsford.

Craig Overton and Matt Henry bowled very well with the new ball but Alastair Cook and Nick Browne put on 66 for the first wicket, before Cook and Tom Westley added a further 45 to reach lunch on 111-1.

A first-class debut for Somerset's Shoaib Bashir is a dream for the young off-spinner, but dismissing a knighted former England captain would be the dream of dreams - and he very nearly did it in his first over!

It could be a challenging afternoon for the visiting bowlers.

  6. Derbyshire bowled outpublished at 13:23 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Derbyshire 111 v Yorkshire

Yorkshire have skittled Derbyshire inside the first session at Queen's Park in Chesterfield.

Matt Fisher removed Ben Aitchison to finish with 5-30. Ben Coad took three wickets and Jordan Thompson two.

In fairness, it was something of a recovery by the hosts having been 24-6.

  7. 'Excellent morning for Lancashire'published at 13:21 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

Lancs v Hants 57-4 - lunch, day one

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire commentator

An absolute peach on the stroke of lunch from Will Williams removed the Hampshire captain James Vince and secured an excellent morning with the ball for Lancashire.

Set up by Williams and Tom Bailey and backed up by Jack Blatherwick, the Red Rose bowlers have been accurate, consistent and probing all morning.

There's been little to work with for the Hampshire batters, one of whom, Nick Gubbins will feel unlucky to have been given out. His lbw dismissal appeared to pitch outside leg stump. Plenty of work to do with the bat this afternoon for the visitors.

  9. Lunch at Canterburypublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Kent 80-5 v Surrey

It's been overwhelmingly Surrey's session. How many times has that been said so far this season?

From 34-0 after 11 overs to 41-5 in the 17th thanks to some fine bowling from Sean Abbott (3-19) and Jordan Clark (2-13) in particular.

Joey Evison and Jordan Cox wll have the weight of a county on their shoulders this afternoon. They have added 39 runs so far.

  10. Lunch at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Essex 111-1 v Somerset

A session of dominance from Essex's batters.

Josh Davey got Nick Browne for 33, but Alastair Cook and Tom Westley have looked solid since.

They'll both want to go big after lunch.

  11. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Notts v Warwickshire 91-1

    Warwickshire's session.

Alex Davies (45 not out) and Will Rhodes (31 not out) have put on 68 since the dismissal of Rob Yates.

Tough going for Nottinghamshire's bowlers in the sunshine.

  12. wicket

WICKET & LUNCH Vince b Williams 15published at 13:01 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Lancashire v Hampshire 57-4

Huge wicket with the final ball before lunch for Lancashire.

A brilliant delivery from Will WIlliams ousts James Vince for 15 from 50 deliveries. He comes forward in defence but Williams gets the ball through the gate to thump off-stump and spark wild celebrations at Southport. WIlliams has 2-7 off 10 overs.

Lancashire very much in the ascendancy at the end of the first session. Runs have been very hard to come by for Hampshire.

  13. Postpublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Kent 78-5 v Surrey

37 now added by Jordan Cox and Joey Evison for this sixth wicket which makes it Kent's biggest of the innings so far. 21 apiece for the youngsters. Ship isn't exactly steady but it's not upside down either at the moment.

27 overs gone and it looks like it's time for some spin from Dan Moriarty.

  14. De Leede in the wicketspublished at 12:54 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Durham v Glamorgan 82-3

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Bas De Leede, the Netherlands international, has taken two wickets in two overs to even things up here in Chester-le-Street.

Under grey skies, Glamorgan won the toss and decided to bat in the warmth. They got off to a decent start with an opening stand of 55 from Zain ul-Hassan and Andrew Salter, a makeshift pairing following injuries.

Ul-Hassan was caught and bowled by loanee Craig Miles when on 24. He couldn't get out of the way of a short one and the bowler, on loan for two games from Warwickshire, took a great diving catch.

Salter was then caught behind off De Leede for 43, gloving a short one to keeper Ollie Robinson, seven balls after De Leede had Colin Ingram caught down the leg-side for four.

Also having a decent first session with the bat are Warwickshire.

Alex Davies (38 not out) and Will Rhodes (27 not out) have now put on 55 for the second wicket.

  16. Postpublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Essex 101-1 v Somerset

Very much Essex's session so far as they go past 100 at Chelmsford.

Alastair Cook is 10 away from going past fifty for the 196th time in first-class cricket!

    Decent player is Alastair.

  17. 50 runs

up for Hampshirepublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Lancashire v Hampshire 53-3

Ben Brown finishes the 25th over over by carving Jack Blatherwick through backward point for four to bring up the visitors' half-century.

  18. wicket

WICKET Gubbins lbw b Blatherwick 16published at 12:44 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Lancashire v Hampshire 49-3

Nick Gubbins is not happy, he thinks this has pitched outside leg, but the finger goes up after an age and Jack Blatherwick has his first scalp. A 59-ball stint is at an end.

    Ben Brown joins James Vince.

  19. Postpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Lancashire v Hampshire 48-2

After that 11-run over, James Vince and Hampshire have clearly had to stop at temporary traffic lights.

Four straight maidens from Lancashire - two of them from Jack Blatherwick who has conceded one run from his four so far.

  20. Postpublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Kent 61-5 v Surrey

Gorgeous punch to the long-off rope from Joey Evison off Jordan Clark takes the partnership with Jordan Cox to 20, but Rory Burns produces a fine diving stop to prevent another four runs from the final ball of the 21st over.

Burns has worn that floppy white sunhat all season long, including on the 13 degrees and gloomy days... finally it's earning its keep at a baking Canterbury today.
