  3. Close of play at Canterburypublished at 19:07 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Kent v Surrey 263-3 (target 501)

Well, what a day of cricket that was at Canterbury.

Kent began it in scintillating fashion as Hamidullah Qadri (72) and Matt Quinn (37) bludgeoned lower-order runs to give the hosts a 500-run lead.

It looked an impossible chase for the Division One leaders but Jamie Smith's stunning 114 off 77 balls, alongside Dom Sibley's measured, unbeaten 61, has given them real hope of pulling off a minor miracle.

  4. Postpublished at 19:05 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Kent v Surrey 263-3 (target 501)

Ben Foakes takes advantage of that close shave by cutting Joey Evison to the boundary for four.

And another from the penultimate ball of the day, finishing with a flourish.

  5. Foakes survives lbw shoutpublished at 19:03 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Kent v Surrey 255-3 (target 501)

Arshdeep Singh is convinced he's trapped Ben Foakes lbw.

The wicketkeeper-batter scampers off for a single and tries to avoid any eye contact with the umpire.

Very close, that one. Commentators suggest it would have been 'umpire's call' had reviews been available.

  6. Surrey halfway to targetpublished at 19:00 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Kent v Surrey 254-3 (target 501)

Penultimate over of the day at Canterbury almost yields a late wicket as Ben Foakes plays and misses from Arshdeep Singh. So close to a nick there.

Surrey, meanwhile, have inched past the halfway mark of their mammoth target.

  7. Close of play at Trent Bridgepublished at 18:57 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Notts 155 & 267-4 v Warks 571-9d

Notts have avoided disaster with a solid second innings but will still need to bat for most of the final day to save the game.

The resumed this morning five down in their first innings and found no lower order resistance to be bundled out for just 155.

Warwickshire enforced the follow-on and again Notts got a good start - 61-0 this time - before slipping to 86-3.

But Joe Clarke has made his first hundred of the summer, and walks off 119 not out, to give Notts hope for the final day.

His captain Steven Mullaney will be alongside him in the morning on 37.

But the hosts still need 149 more to avoid an innings defeat.

    Kent v Surrey 247-3 (target 501)

Delay at Canterbury as Ben Foakes has been struck on the helmet by a bouncer from Arshdeep Singh and concussion protocols have to be followed.

Looks like Foakes needs a replacement helmet too.

  13. Postpublished at 18:45 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Kent v Surrey 246-3 (target 501)

Dom Sibley and Ben Foakes digging in now, trying to ensure Surrey don't lose another wicket tonight. Just the one run scored off the past 18 deliveries.

    Four overs remaining.

  14. Close of play at Queen's Parkpublished at 18:45 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Derbyshire v Yorkshire 147-6 (target 212)

What a final day we've got in prospect in Chesterfield.

Yorkshire will need 65 more runs, Derbyshire four wickets.

Captain Shan Masood is surely the key - he's unbeaten on 68.

    Notts 155 & 259-4 v Warks 571-9d

Five overs left at Trent Bridge and Warwickshire are probably now desperate for a cold bath a cool beverage.

Joe Clarke continues to hold up their victory push on 114.

Captain Steven Mullaney is 36 and the pair have shared 73 for the fifth wicket.

  17. Close of play at Southportpublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Lancs 48-2 (Target: 140) v Hants

This grand week on the Lancashire coast continues.

Hampshire resumed with nine wickets in hand this morning and got themselves to 158-1.

But George Balderson then came up with a burst of three quick wickets with Fletcha Middleton, 77, and Nick Gubbins, 62, not able to take bigger chunks out of the deficit.

James Vince took up the fight but was running out of partners when finally out for 87 and Hampshire were 371 all out in their second innings.

Lancashire were left with only 140 to chase and lost both openers cheaply but captain Dane Vilas, on 23, and Josh Bohannon, 16, have taken them to the close in good shape.

They've brought the target down to 92 needed tomorrow.

    Derbyshire v Yorkshire 145-5 (target 212)

    Derbyshire are back in this!

Nightwatchman Matt Fisher is late on a ball that skids through from Mark Watt and is bowled.

Two overs left... can they sneak another?!

    Notts 155 & 253-4 f/o v Warks 571-9d

This was always going to be a big ask for Warwickshire in the heat to take 10 more wickets today.

They've managed four more but it looks like being plenty still to do tomorrow to wrap this game up.

10 overs still left tonight. Notts trail by 163.

Joe Clarke has 110 and captain Steven Mullaney 34.

  20. wicket

WICKET Tattersall lbw b Thomson 22published at 18:29 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Derbyshire v Yorkshire 140-4 (target 212)

Breakthrough with a couple of overs to go!

A ball from spinner Alex Thomson keeps really low and pins Jonathan Tattersall on the back foot plumb in front.

Not a lot he could have done about that. It might be too late for Derbyshire with only 72 more runs needed, but it'll give them a bit of hope heading into the final day.
