  1. Postpublished at 18:26 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Lancs 39-2 (Target: 140) v Hants

Three overs to go at Southport and the hosts have calmed the situation having been 5-2.

Josh Bohannon has driven a wide ball from Keith Barker for four for a nice settler.

Captain Dane Vilas is at the other end and has punches Mohammad Abbas very smartly through mid-on for four.

  2. wicket

    Smith b Arshdeep 114published at 18:21 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Kent v Surrey 230-3 (target 501)

Oh dear, that talk of records hasn't jinxed Surrey, has it?

Jamie Smith has smashed Arshdeep Singh around a bit today but the India bowler gets his man with a lovely ball that nips back and dislodges the off stump.

A wonderful 114 off 77 balls comes to an end.

  3. Postpublished at 18:20 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Kent v Surrey 230-2 (target 501)

Right now, Surrey are making inroads into the 501 almost as quickly as Michael van Gerwen manages.

Jamie Smith is up to 114, Dom Sibley 53 - and by close of play tonight, Surrey will have surely passed the halfway mark to a target that seemed insurmountable, especially when they slipped to 4-1 early doors.

  4. Surrey seeking record run chasepublished at 18:18 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Kent v Surrey 230-2 (target 501)

Let's not get ahead of ourselves too much - but if Surrey were to reach their 501 target tomorrow it would be the biggest run chase since the County Championship was split into two divisions.

That record is currently held by Somerset, who chased down 476 to beat Yorkshire in 2009.

The all-time record belongs to Middlesex, who needed 502 to win against Nottinghamshire all the way back in 1925.

  5. 100 runs

for Joe Clarkepublished at 18:12 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Notts 155 & 225-4 f/o v Warks 571-9d

After eight balls on 99, Joe Clarke drives Hasan Ali past mid-off for four to reach his first century of the summer.

Finally someone for Notts to keep the Bears at bay.

136 balls and 19 fours for his sixth ton for Notts in his 52nd match.

By contrast, in 55 matches for Worcestershire, he made 12 centuries.

Many of those were made in Division Two but it still demonstrates how he hasn't been able to find his very best Championship form at Trent Bridge.

Notts still trail by 191. Still 15 overs left in West Bridgford.

  6. 100 runs

Century for Surrey's Smithpublished at 18:11 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Kent v Surrey 215-2 (target 501)

Jamie Smith brings up his century off just 70 balls by lashing Joe Denly to the boundary.

Considering the circumstances, with Surrey requiring a frankly ridiculous 501 to win, this has been a quite remarkable innings.

  7. Close of play at Chelmsfordpublished at 18:05 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Essex v Somerset 172-4 (target 466)

And with that wicket comes the end of play at Chelmsford.

That's a big blow for Somerset who were already up against it. Tom Abell remains unbeaten on 54 for the visitors but they are going to need something special on day four to avoid defeat by Essex.

  8. Postpublished at 18:05 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Lancs 16-2 (Target: 140) v Hants

Josh Bohannon and Dane Vilas trying to quell the early Hampshire excitement.

Eight overs left at Southport and you feel the visitors need at least one more wicket to have a sniff in the morning.

  9. Division Two latestpublished at 18:04 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

Yorkshire captain Shan Masood has just gone to fifty off 45 balls at Derbyshire. Yorkshire are now 114-3 and need less than 100 for victory.

Leicestershire captain Lewis Hill is leading his side superbly at Gloucestershire. He's just brought up his century and his side are 320-6, 48 behind their opponents.

Sussex's lower order is frustrating Worcestershire once again at Hove. They're 321-6 and leading by 259.

Glamorgan remain in bother at Durham on 148-4 and still needing 91 to avoid an innings defeat.

  10. wicket

    Kohler-Cadmore lbw b Harmer 25published at 18:01 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Essex v Somerset 172-4 (target 466)

Big, big wicket, late in the day for Essex.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore pays the price for playing no shot to Simon Harmer as he gives the umpire a relatively straightforward lbw decision.

  11. 50 runs

for Somerset's Abellpublished at 17:53 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Essex v Somerset 167-3 (target 466)

    Tom AbellImage source, Rex Features

Tom Abell cuts away a lovely drive to bring up his half-century for Somerset at Chelmsford.

It's all about the Toms for the visitors.

Tom Lammonby hit 59 earlier before falling lbw - and Tom Kohler-Cadmore is now sharing a partnership with Abell that has just reached its half-century.

  12. wicket

WICKET Balderson c Brown b Barker 2published at 17:48 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Lancs 5-2 (Target: 140) v Hants

A second early one for Hampshire.

George Balderson drives loosely at a length ball from Keith Barker well outside off and nicks it behind.

11 overs left tonight and this is Hampshire's chance to try and create some carnage.

    They have a start.

  13. 50 runs

for Surrey's Sibleypublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Kent v Surrey 191-2 (target 501)

This is the kind of patient innings Surrey knew they would be getting when they signed Dom Sibley from Warwickshire - and he isn't disappointing.

It's taken him 40 minutes to go from 46 up to 50 but he reaches his half-century by taking two. It's taken 161 balls and more than three and a half hours but Surrey won't care. This is a priceless knock for them.

Not long after, the 100 partnership has come up - it's only taken 18 overs and Jamie Smith has contributed 78 of the runs.

  14. wicket

WICKET Hill run out 0published at 17:45 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Derbyshire v Yorkshire 84-3 (target 212)

    Are Derbyshire favourites now?!

George Hill and Shan Masood attempt a quick single but there's confusion and hesitancy.

Eventually Hill runs to the striker's end, dives, but he's run out via a good throw by Ben Aitchison.

Three down and 128 still required.

  15. Glamorgan up against itpublished at 17:44 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Durham 630 v Glamorgan 390 & 126-4

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Glamorgan are struggling here, with Dutchman Bas de Leede enjoying a cracking spell with the ball.

He had Colin Ingram caught in the gully by David Bedingham on six. It was a sharp, low chance. That was the bowler's first delivery. Next ball Sam Northeast fell lbw for a golden duck.

De Leede then bowled Andrew Salter for 48 four overs later and has taken 3-17 in five overs. Salter's fellow opener Zain-ul-Hassan also fell for 48, caught behind off Stanley McAlindon.

There are eight overs to go in the glorious Chester-le-Street sunshine on day three.

  16. wicket

WICKET Salt c Vince b Mohammad Abbas 3published at 17:42 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Lancs 3-1 (Target: 140) v Hants

A whack from Phil Salt might have got this chase done tonight.

But he only lasts five balls.

Mohammad Abbas gets him fourth ball trying to clip to leg and edging to first slip.

Early glimmer of hope for Hampshire.

  17. wicket

WICKET James c Yates b Rushworth 29published at 17:32 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Notts 155 & 186-4 f/o v Warks 571-9d

Notts had at last got properly stuck in with a century stand between Joe Clarke and Lyndon James.

But Chris Rushworth makes the breakthrough.

He finds James' outside edge and he nicks to first slip.

Rushworth roars his delight - this must be very hard work bowling all day in the heat.

Joe Clarke still there on 81 not out but Notts still trail by 230 following-on.

    Still 23 overs left tonight.

  18. wicket

WICKET Lyth lbw b Watt 30published at 17:26 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Derbyshire v Yorkshire 63-2 (target 212)

Both Yorkshire openers are gone now.

Adam Lyth plays back to one from spinner Mark Watt, misses, and is struck in front. Up goes the finger.

Yorkshire still need 149. This game feels in the balance.

  19. wicket

HAMPSHIRE ALL OUTpublished at 17:26 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Lancs 374 v Hants 142 & 371 (Abbott c Williams b Mitchell 23)

Kyle Abbott swung two fours and two sixes but tries to uppercut Daryl Mitchell and is superbly caught by Will Williams running around the third man boundary.

It wraps up the Hampshire second innings.

It's a decent effort from the visitors having trailed by 232.

They might have hoped for a few more after being 158-1 but no-one could play the really big innings needed to get the lead up over 200.

140 to chase for Lancashire and 15 overs left tonight - plus an additional eight if needed - but you can't see Lancs being in too much of us rush.

  20. 6 runs

Another maximum for Smithpublished at 17:24 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Kent v Surrey 174-2 (target 501)

Two sixes and two fours - 20 runs in that over for Jamie Smith, who has flown up to 65.

He realises this isn't T20, right?
