WICKET Du Plooy c Lyth b Bess 170published at 14:53 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Derbyshire 111 & 404-7 v Yorkshire 353

    That's the wicket Yorkshire wanted!

Leus du Plooy attempts to drive spinner Dom Bess but gets an edge and Adam Lyth clings on at slip.

The captain departs with the lead on 162. He's given his side a chance of a remarkable victory.

  2. 50 runs

for James Vincepublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Lancs 374 v Hants 142 & 269-6

You'd think it's now James Vince or bust for Hampshire with their lead at only 37.

Can the lower order stick with him to try and grow the lead at least to 150?

Vince's half-century in 83 balls, six fours and a six.

Fifth time past 50 this season for Vince.

  3. wicket

WICKET Montgomery lbw b Hasan Ali 0published at 14:46 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Notts 155 & 61-2 v Warks 571-9d

Two balls later and Hasan Ali has another!

He's full and straight, Matt Montgomery misses with a tentative forward prod and is hit on the pad bang in front.

Hasan so convinced he doesn't bother turning to the umpire!

Just tears away in celebration with a raised arm.

  4. Postpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Essex 462-9 dec & 170-7 dec v Somerset 167 & 15-0

Jamie Porter asks the question of the umpire after one swings back to catch Somerset opener Sean Dickson unaware.

Hmm, didn't seem to get any bat on that, maybe height was an issue as the umpire remains unmoved by loud appeals from the Essex contingent.

  5. wicket

WICKET Hameed b Hasan Ali 39published at 14:44 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Notts 155 & 61-1 f/o v Warks 571-9d

Hasan Ali has had a big say in this game so far and here makes the breakthrough for Warwickshire.

He gets one to come back at Haseeb Hameed who shoulders arms and gets his off stump knocked out.

  6. Division Two latestpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

Worcestershire have picked up three quick Sussex to bring the game back into the balance at Hove.

Openers Tom Clark (50) and Tom Haines (91) went in the space of two deliveries, and James Coles has also gone cheaply to leave Sussex 147-3 and leading by 85.

Yorkshire spinner Dom Bess has removed Derbyshire's Brooke Guest for 42, but captain Leus du Plooy is still there on 161. The hosts are 380-6 at Chesterfield and 138 in front.

It's a fairly even game at Bristol between Gloucestershire and Leicestershire. The visitors are 153-3 replying to Gloucestershire's first-innings 368. Play was halted for around 10 minutes because of an alarm in the main pavilion, but the all clear has been given and they're back out.

Durham are 583-9 at Chester-le-Street - 193 ahead of Glamorgan. Bas de Leede is unbeaten on 63.

  7. Somerset reply under waypublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Essex 462-9 dec & 170-7 dec v Somerset 167 & 0-0

Essex's Jamie Porter registers a maiden in the opening over of Somerset's reply.

Like Surrey and Notts elsewhere in the top flight, the visitors are up against it at Chelmsford, their win target a lofty 466.

  8. 50 runs

up for Nottspublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Notts 155 & 50-0 f/o v Warks 571-9d

It's another solid start from Haseeb Hameed, 36, and Ben Slater, 14.

But it was at this point that things went horribly wrong in the first innings as they crashed from 51-0 to 58-4.

They still trail by a whopping 366 but do at least have a platform following-on.

  9. Postpublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Kent 301 & 344 v Surrey 145 & 26-1

If Surrey are to maintain their undefeated record in Division One, then this second-wicket partnership is going to be key, you would think.

There aren't many better batters around on the county scene than Dom Sibley and Tom Latham - Surrey are going to need a marathon stint from one of them, or both.

  10. wicket

WICKET Organ lbw b Williams 4published at 14:18 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Lancs 374 v Hants 142 & 252-6

    Lancashire get another.

Will Williams gets one to nip back and catches Felix Organ in the crease.

He doesn't look outside the line, Williams with his first of the second innings and now Lancashire are into the lower order.

James Vince still there on 41 but can someone stick around with him?

    The lead only 20.

  11. ESSEX DECLARE - LEAD BY 465published at 14:18 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Essex 462-9 dec & 170-7 dec v Somerset 167

Two declarations in two innings from Essex, an illustration of how in command of this match they have been.

They'll have the best part of five sessions to bowl Somerset out.

Matt Critchley's 52 the highlight of the hosts' second innings, while Kasey Aldridge topped the Somerset bowling figures with 4-36.

  12. wicket

    Critchley c Overton b Aldridge 52published at 14:12 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Essex 462-9 dec & 159-7 v Somerset 167

Matt Critchley departs not long after notching his 50 as Craig Overton takes his second catch of the innings.

The new man in, Ben Allison (pictured below), hits a four off his first ball and then a big six off the next. Some start - 10 off two deliveries!

  13. Latham survives lbw shoutpublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Kent 301 & 344 v Surrey 145 & 21-1

An uneventful start to the afternoon session at Canterbury - which is exactly what Division One leaders Surrey will have wanted.

Chasing a nominal, but highly unlikely, target of 501 to win, the pace-setters basically need to bat for a day and a half to avoid a first league defeat this season.

Their biggest scare since lunch has just come and gone - Matt Quinn appealing for lbw against Tom Latham but it always seemed to be going down leg side.

Having faced a big innings defeat by Yorkshire shortly after lunch on day two when they were 17-4, Derbyshire may well be eyeing victory now.

Captain Leus du Plooy has just brought up his 150 at Queen's Park with his side on 365-5. They lead by 123.

Durham continue to pile on the runs against Glamorgan. They're 550-8 with an advantage of 160.

Leicestershire are going along well against Gloucestershire at Bristol. The Foxes are on 143-2 in reply to Gloucestershire's first-innings 368.

Sussex and Tom Haines are punishing Worcestershire in their second innings. The hosts have raced onto 134-0 with Haines on 83. They lead by 72.

  15. wicket

WICKET Dawson c Salt b Bell 26published at 14:05 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Lancs 374 v Hants 142 & 240-5

    A big blow for Lancashire!

The fifty stand had come up in 68 balls between Liam Dawson and James Vince.

But then sometime wicketkeeper George Bell, here bowling some off spin, comes up with his maiden first-class wicket!

Dawson goes to reverse sweep and there's a huge appeal for caught behind and Neil Mallender gives it out!

Dawson can't believe it, stands there, puts a hand on hip, peels himself from the crease and has a look back at the umpire as he walks off.

Certainly hit the ground but was there also bat or glove? Impossible to say for certain without snicko.

  16. wicket

    Harmer c Kohler-Cadmore b Aldridge 21published at 14:03 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Essex 462-9 dec & 150-6 v Somerset 167

Just as Simon Harmer steps up the pace, he's gone - after successive boundaries, he wants to clear the ropes this time and comes close, only for Tom Kohler-Cadmore to cut it off with a catch in the deep.

The Essex lead is 445 with four wickets remaining.

  17. HAMPSHIRE LEADpublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Lancs 374 v Hants 142 & 236-4

James Vince and Liam Dawson are very quickly into their work after lunch at Southport.

They've taken Hampshire into the lead and with six wickets remaining, how many can they set Lancashire?

This pair, Vince especially, can also score pretty quickly.

The wonderful challenge of the third innings now for the hosts - obviously trying to take these wickets but with one eye on the runs too.

  18. 50 runs

for Essex's Critchleypublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Essex 462-9 dec & 133-5 v Somerset 167

Right we're back under way at most of our games - and it hasn't taken Essex's Matt Critchley long to rack up his half-century.

Having resumed on 38, he took fewer than 10 minutes to move on to 50, helped by a big six as he dispatched Shoaib Bashir over deep extra cover.

  19. 'Sussex's morning'published at 13:41 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Sussex 348 & 111-0 v Worcs 410 - lunch, day three

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Very much Sussex’s morning at Hove clearing the first innings arrears of 62 and racing to lunch at four an over to lead by 49

Tom Haines has led the way, after a skittish start he’s grown in confidence hitting 14 boundaries and Tom Clark has been the perfect foil at the other end.

Earlier in the day Jake Libby was out just two short of what would have been successive double hundreds at Hove, as Worcester lost their last 7 wickets for just 44.

  20. 'Essex in no hurry'published at 13:22 British Summer Time 13 June 2023

    Essex 462-9 dec & 118-5 v Somerset 167 - lunch, day three

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

A bit of a phoney war this morning, as Essex seemed to be in no hurry to set up a declaration, their progress being checked by some keen Somerset bowling and fielding, which produced four wickets.

Word from the Essex camp is that the follow-on was not enforced, partly to give their quicks a break before three T20 Blast games in four days, and partly because Simon Harmer has a sore back.

That's a thought for Somerset's batters to cling to when their turn comes. The lead is 413.
