  1. Yorkshire need eight to winpublished at 11:51 British Summer Time 14 June 2023

    Derbyshire v Yorkshire 203-7 (target 212)

    Lovely shot.

Dom Bess skips down the track to Alex Thomson and punches him over mid on to the rope.

He finishes the over with a single and Yorkshire only need eight more.

  2. wicket

WICKET Mullaney b Rushworth 48published at 11:48 British Summer Time 14 June 2023

    Notts 155 & 286-5 f/o v Warks 571-9d

    Warwickshire make the breakthrough!

A hundred stand for the fifth wicket is ended as Chris Rushworth - with the second new ball - gets one to nip back at Steven Mullaney, who shoulders arms and loses his off stump!

106 balls of resistance from the Notts skipper but he's gone and his side still trail by 130.

  3. Yorkshire need 14 for victorypublished at 11:48 British Summer Time 14 June 2023

    Derbyshire v Yorkshire 198-7 (target 212)

Shan Masood miscues a sweep shot off Mark Watt but the ball still finds the boundary.

The Yorkshire captain then takes a single to move to 94.

It's Yorkshire's to lose from here.

  4. Elsewhere in Division Twopublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 14 June 2023

Durham are pressing for victory against Glamorgan at Chester-le-Street. The visitors are 180-5 and still 60 away from making Durham bat again.

All eyes are on when Sussex will declare against Worcestershire - they're 409-6 and leading by 347. Captain Tom Alsop is 92 not out and Jack Carson has 75.

At Bristol, Gloucestershire are 48-2 in their second innings and lead Leicestershire by 66 in a game that looks to be heading towards a draw.

  5. Yorkshire need 19 for victorypublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 14 June 2023

    Derbyshire v Yorkshire 192-7 (target 212)

Derbyshire paceman Zak Chappell goes too straight and Shan Masood whips him off the pads for four.

Another couple and a single to end the over and the target is down to 19.

All that buoyancy following the wicket with the first ball of the day is evaporating for Derbyshire.

  6. wicket

WICKET Bohannon c Vince b Organ 37published at 11:41 British Summer Time 14 June 2023

    Lancs 92-3 (Target: 140) v Hants

Hampshire have their first of the day - but almost certainly too late.

Josh Bohannon presses forward to Felix Organ's off spin and nicks to low to slip's left.

Tremendous one-handed catch by James Vince

  7. Couple let-offs for Foakespublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 14 June 2023

    Kent v Surrey 287-3 (target 501)

Wes Agar is mighty unlucky not to have removed Ben Foakes.

First, an outside edge just evades the slip fielders and runs away for a slightly fortunate four.

And then the Aussie is adamant he's trapped the wicketkeeper-batter lbw - as are his team-mates. But the man who counts, the umpire, does not agree.

  8. Yorkshire need 29 for victorypublished at 11:37 British Summer Time 14 June 2023

    Derbyshire v Yorkshire 183-7 (target 212)

Dom Bess is a handy batter to have coming in at nine.

Alex Thomson tosses one up outside off stump and the former England man punches him through the covers for his third boundary.

    Less than 30 needed.

  9. Postpublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 14 June 2023

    Essex v Somerset 196-4 (target 466)

Just as we said Somerset were being cautious, they step things up as both Tom Abell (66) and James Rew (12) pick Simon Harmer off for boundaries in the sixth over of the morning.

We have mentioned that Surrey's run chase, should they succeed, would be the second-highest County Championship chase ever - if Somerset achieve theirs it would slot in at fourth or fifth on the list.

But it wouldn't be a club record - Somerset chased down 476 against Yorkshire in 2009 to sit, as it stands, second on the all-time list.

  10. Yorkshire need 38 to winpublished at 11:31 British Summer Time 14 June 2023

    Derbyshire v Yorkshire 174-7 (target 212)

Captain Shan Masood and Dom Bess have settled things for Yorkshire since Dawid Malan went to the first ball of the day.

Bess has hit a couple of boundaries while Masood has nudged it around to move up to 78.

    Nailbiting stuff at Queen's Park.

  11. Halfway homepublished at 11:28 British Summer Time 14 June 2023

    Lancs 71-2 (Target: 140) v Hants

Dane Vilas is 32 and Josh Bohannon 27 and the pair have taken Lancashire halfway to their target.

    69 more to win.

Hampshire's very slim hopes almost extinguished.

  12. Postpublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 14 June 2023

    Essex v Somerset 186-4 (target 466)

Surrey aren't the only team chasing a big target today, of course.

Over at Chelmsford, Somerset are looking for 466 to win - although they are taking more of a safety first approach than the leaders, knowing they also have the option of digging in for a draw if need be.

Tom Abell's up to 60 for the visitors.

  13. De Leede leading the way for Durhampublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 14 June 2023

Glamorgan 159-5, second innings, trail Durham by 81

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Bas de Leede, Durham's Dutch all-rounder, took three wickets last night, including two with his first two balls. And he's been at it again this morning.

Kiran Carlson, who has scored centuries in both games against Durham this year, fell fifth ball of the day, clipping the bowler to Craig Miles at short mid-wicket on 35.

It was a big wicket from Durham's point of view because he made 162 on day one, having been dropped on 67 and 107. De Leede has a career-best 4-25 from seven.

If Durham can get through the Billy Root/Chris Cooke partnership quickly this could be over by early afternoon. However we have seen plenty of big partnerships from both teams this week in the lower order, so nothing should be taken for granted just yet.

  14. 'Kent's best chance'published at 11:17 British Summer Time 14 June 2023

    Kent v Surrey 277-3 (target 501)

    Matt Cole
    BBC Radio Kent

This is Kent's best chance of winning this game - use the new ball and use it well.

  15. new ball

New ball at Canterburypublished at 11:16 British Summer Time 14 June 2023

    Kent v Surrey 276-3 (target 501)

Solid start from Surrey as they continue that club-record run chase.

Dom Sibley hit Joe Denly for four in the opening over of the morning to set the tone.

Kent beginning with the spin of Denly and Hamidullah Qadri before the new ball - which has now been taken by Matt Quinn. Can that help Kent get the breakthrough they desperately need?

  16. 50 runs

up for Lancashirepublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 14 June 2023

    Lancs 54-2 (Target: 140) v Hants

Hampshire whipped out both openers cheaply last night but since then captain Dane Vilas and Josh Bohannon have settled Lancashire.

If these two can prevent any Hants charge in this opening hour, this chase will be no problem.

    86 more to win.

Players have minute's silenceImage source, Rex Features

A subdued and poignant start to the day's cricket at Chelmsford and Trent Bridge.

Two of the victims of the Nottingham attacks - students Barnaby Webber and Grace Kumar, both 19 - were both keen cricketers.

Barnaby was from Taunton in Somerset and played for Bishops Hull Cricket Club, while Grace played for Woodford Wells Cricket Club, close to the Essex border.

Essex and Somerset have held a minute's silence in memory of the teenagers, as have Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire at Trent Bridge. The teams are all wearing black armbands too.

WICKET Malan c Lamb b Watt 0published at 11:01 British Summer Time 14 June 2023

    Derbyshire v Yorkshire 147-7 (target 212)

Derbyshire strike with the first ball of the day!

Dawid Malan, nursing a groin injury but without a runner, tries to sweep spinner Mark Watt and the ball pops up to short leg.

Yorkshire are seven down and still need 65 for victory.

Watt is on a hat-trick having dismissed Matthew Revis last night, but Dom Bess survives.

    Kent v Surrey 263-3 (target 501)

    Ben FoakesImage source, Getty Images

When Kent set Surrey 501 to win on Tuesday, it looked like mission impossible even for the undefeated County Championship Division One leaders.

But they have already taken a huge chunk out of that target thanks to Jamie Smith (114) and Dom Sibley (61no) - and could complete a historic run chase today.

Not only would it be the highest run chase in the club's history, it would be the second highest Championship run chase ever - behind Middlesex's 502-6 against Nottinghamshire in 1925.

It would also be the eighth highest global run chase in any form of first-class cricket.

Dom Sibley and Ben Foakes will resume batting for the visitors shortly.
