It's an absolute beauty, it's a pitch. Perfect length, in the last 15 minutes, the ball has started to do a few tricks, perfect length, they know the rain is coming, they want Joe Root out there. If they can get two or three overs more, they could easily get one or two more wickets.

    Would you believe it?!

Absolute peach of a delivery from Scott Boland. Perfect line and length, luring Crawley forward and snaring the edge.

    Australia are absolutely jubilant.

It is getting very dark at the Edgbaston.

That filthy looking dark cloud just unleashed a monsoon over me, about 6 miles from Edgbaston. Best get some runs in, quick.

For only the second time in the Bazball era, Ben Duckett has failed to score a 50 in a Test match. That's from the seven he has played in.

You look at Ben Duckett's two dismissals from this match, two different types of bowling. I wouldn't be changing Duckett yet.

He did. A superb take by Cameron Green and Australia have the breakthrough.

  8. Umpire reviewpublished at 8.4 overs

Would you believe it?! Pat Cummins gets one to nip away from Ben Duckett who has punched it straight to diving Cameron Green at gully.

The umpires will have a check but I think he has held onto this.

Oh my. Look at the state of that cloud. It is going to start raining very, very heavily soon.

And I'm not talking dry rain, Sir Alastair.

  12. Eng 27-0published at 8 overs

Scott Boland smacks into Zak Crawley's pads with a quicker delivery that nips back into the right-hander. I think it was doing too much though and Pat Cummins declines the review.

The next delivery Crawley shoulders arms and it clips his pads again! That was pitch way outsdie the line though.

A bit of life from Boland, though.

There are some very dark clouds behind the Hollies Stand. Don't assume we're going to be back on for good, here.

Very good from Travis Head. He knows he's copping it from the Hollies Stand, so has sprinted straight towards it on the resumption. He was in his fielding position as the rest of his team-mates were just entering the field.

  16. Eng 26-0published at 7 overs

Meanwhile, we have just seen a shot of an absolutely filthy-looking dark cloud in the distance.

I fear that is heading our way.

Let's get back to the cricket, shall we? England are 26-0 remember!

Hypotheticals. I wouldn't have a clue. I respect the nostalgia, Steve Smith would be a great player in any era, you can only play in the era you actually play in. I could make up an answer to satisfy the question but I don't actually have an answer.

I like it because it brings relevance to games that might have not had it before. I hope that in the future, the best players continue to play in Test series' rather than all of the marquee series because of the amount of T20 leagues around the world.
