  1. Difference in intensity between county cricket and the Sheffield Shield?published at 15:25 British Summer Time 18 June 2023

Former Australia bowler on BBC Test Match Special

I don't think it's a big difference as everyone talks about between Australia and county games. I think county cricket is a lot better than people think and I think Shield cricket is getting condensed. I joke about who would want to be an administrator, but here in England, it's really interesting. It's a really tricky one.

  3. Would you have liked to have been rested more or would you have benefitted from playing regularly?published at 15:21 British Summer Time 18 June 2023

Former England bowler on BBC Test Match Special

If you asked my left knee, I would probably have liked more of a rest. I would've liked to play in the IPL but I was quickly told by the ECB that I had to play the first four or five rounds in the County Championship just to be considered. I benefited a lot when I was bowling a lot when younger and bowled with rhythm.

Mitchell Johnson at the Adelaide Oval, 7-40. So many greats I can think of, but in recent times, Mitchell Johnson, it was a wonderful spell. Stuart Broad's at Nottingham was amazing.

  9. What was it like playing with Glenn McGrath?published at 15:12 British Summer Time 18 June 2023

Absolutely inspiring. I actually said to Glenn once I bowl 135/140, a bit quicker than him. I said I should bowl with the wind but he said him coming down the hill and me going up it was about the same. I said that was nonsense, but he said he was the senior bowler and gets the choice of ends and walked off. A wonderful guy to play with. I've never met anyone in my life who is so confident in his or his team's skin, if he does have any self doubts, he hides it so well, without being arrogant. That's why he always predicts 5-0!

  11. England will be 'disruptors' in Women's Ashespublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 18 June 2023

England will try to be "disruptors" when they host Australia in the Women's Ashes, says captain Heather Knight.

The series begins on Thursday with England bidding to beat the all-conquering Australians and win an Ashes series for the first time since 2014.

England scored 650 in 118.2 overs against Australia A in a warm-up while England A hit the tourists' full side for 562 in 115.1 in another practice.

"A lot of things have to go right for us to beat them," Knight told BBC Test Match Special.

"Because they are so good we have to be disrupters, do things differently, and try and think outside the box. There is belief in us as a group we can do that. It is exciting."

The one for me is Stuart Broad at Nottingham in 2015. Jimmy Anderson got injured in the third Test, at that stage when Trevor Bayliss coached us, we batted first a lot at that stage. He gets his knees bouncing and you can hear him running in. Everything went our way. I got one of the two other wickets and it was one of the best balls I've ever bowled but no one ever talks about that. I got Peter Nevill out.

  16. What's the Aussie view on Ben Foakes being overlooked to strengthen batting?published at 14:58 British Summer Time 18 June 2023

    Jason Gillespie
Former Australia bowler on BBC Test Match Special

My personal opinion is that the England hierarchy are backing a player that has been a consistent performer for England for a number of years. Foakes only came in when Jonny was injured, so they are just going back to that. I think their philosophy is that Jonny can change a game, there's a lot of talk about his keeping, he's probably looking a bit rusty but he is being trusted to do the job. When he came in with Joe Root, that partnership were busy and that's the value of Jonny Bairstow.

  20. Q: Was Justin Langer harshly treated?published at 14:46 British Summer Time 18 June 2023

    Jason Gillespie
Former Australia bowler on BBC Test Match Special

I think it became pretty clear that the players wanted a change, that's how I've looked at it from a far. The players felt that style of leadership wasn't going to take them forward and it felt like the decision was already made. It didn't matter what Justin Langer did, it felt like the playing group had moved. He was very accepting, took feedback and adjusted his style. Looking back, you sense that a change was going to be made anyway and it was irrelevant what he did.
