A big wicket, and it's the skill and perseverance of a great off-spin bowler in Nathan Lyon. Harry Brook didn't get enough of that and is well caught. An entertaining innings, but he's maybe out too soon.
Have England put themselves in an awkward position?
Brook c Labuschagne b Lyon 46 (Eng 150-5)
Big wicket!
Harry Brook gets down on one knee and tries to thump Nathan Lyon through the leg side.
He didn't get all of it though and Marnus Labuschagne is able to move to his right and take a good low catch.
This ridiculous match takes another turn.

A gentle applause goes around Edgbaston as England get to 150.
We're still 15 minutes or so away from lunch because this morning session has been extended following the rain yesterday afternoon.
It'll be interesting to see England's approach before the break.

Sometimes thinking forward can be about just reining it in a little, otherwise it can be a bit kamikaze. Ben Stokes has the ability to go through the gears, so he'll put his foot down when he needs to.
Stokes 8, Brook 45
Harry Brook plays a superb straight drive and sets off for the single.
Pat Cummins gets across from mid-on to stop it and there was a brief moment of concern because Ben Stokes hadn't set off. He does so eventually and gets in comfortably enough.
But we've got another delay. The ball has gone out of shape and Australia have persuaded the umpires it needs to be changed.
Remind you of anyone?!

Slightly concerned Ben might decide to declare just after lunch to try and catch the Aussie openers off-guard again....

England were galloping towards the kind of total they want in the first hour, now they are inching their way there.
Just a couple of singles from Nathan Lyon's over.
The ball that led to the review in the off-spinner's last over stayed low and a few more do in this one. That is something to keep an eye on.
England won't be too disappointed if it continues to get worse but they want their runs on the board first.

In Joe Root's 240th Test innings, that was his 220th dismissal but the first time he's ever been stumped.
If you're only just joining us, you've missed a remarkable innings from Joe Root.
After trying to reverse ramp the first ball of the day, he rattled off a string of fantastic shots before falling just short of another half-century...

Australia's fourth-innings target was 282 on this ground in 2005 you may remember. They got to 279.

Ben Stokes shows more positive intent as he takes a step down the pitch before chopping Josh Hazlewood through point for a couple.
Seven from the over. We've got a smidge under half an hour left in this extended morning session.

This pitch is playing well, but I think I would still want 300. The odd ball will keep low but it's still good for batting.

Harry Brook decided it was time to break the shackles, although he didn't quite hold of all of that it was a sign of aggression.
Lips dealt with, Harry Brook decides it is time to get things moving again.
He charges Josh Hazlewood and hits high over extra cover. The ball plugs and they have to run them.
Three in the end. But that could signal the start of another England charge.
The Aussies might not be happy but we've just seen the ball-tracking and it was hitting him outside the line and missing off stump anyway!
The crowd are enjoying it all anyway, providing mock appeals every time Ben Stokes defends for the rest of the over.
Meanwhile, Harry Brook seems quite relaxed. He's taken a lip salve out of his pocket and applied it between overs.

I'm not sure the Australians are convinced those squiggles were bat hitting ball.
Not out! UltraEdge shows the ball came off the bottom of the bat.
Australia don't think it is enough, Steve Smith is particularly perturbed but it looked conclusive enough to me.
I think. Anyway, it's given not out. Get on with the game!
