Worcestershire 70-2, chasing 341 to make Derbyshire bat again

Will that be it for the day in Worcester?

Gareth Roderick returns to the pavilion on 38, to leave the Pears still needing a further 271 to make Derbyshire bat again.

  2. wicket

WICKET Ball c Dickson b Davey 1published at 17:53 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Somerset 163 & 514-8 dec v Nottinghamshire 186 & 84-9

Start the bus (back to Nottingham)!

This will not be a record Somerset victory, but it will be a victory inside three days as Josh Ball clips one softly to short midwicket after he is surprised by a bit of extra bounce.

    Josh Davey now has 3-17.

  3. Close of play at Northamptonpublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Northants 237 & 214-5 v Kent 621

As expected, the bad light is only going to get worse as the rain descends on Northampton and the umpires have decided that's stumps.

So 10 fewer overs for Northants to negotiate. They will return tomorrow needing to score 170 to make Kent bat again, with five wickets in hand.

The weather might have ended the day but it still very much belongs to Daniel Bell-Drummond who became the third Kent man to post a triple-century as his unbeaten 300 helped the visitors into a commanding position earlier in the day.

  4. wicket

    WICKET - Foakes c Salt b Bailey 5published at 17:46 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

Surrey 23-4, chasing 208 to beat Lancashire

    Another one bites the dust!!!

A fourth wicket for Tom Bailey as he finds the edge and Ben Foakes is caught behind by Phil Salt.

    Will Jacks enters the fray.

George Balderson comes into the Lancs attack, to replace Will Williams.

Will this relieve the pressure on the leaders?

Surrey look in trouble. But they have won their last six Chamiopnship matches here. And you would never write off any team who genuinely bat down to number 11, enjoyed a 130-run last-wicket stand in the first innings and chased down 501 to beat Kent at Canterbury last time out.

  5. Gloucestershire avoid follow-onpublished at 17:44 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Yorkshire 550-9 dec v Gloucestershire 408-7

A lovely shot down the ground from Tom Price takes Gloucestershire over 400 and past the follow-on target.

It also brings up his third first-class fifty and the very next ball, he pulls George Hill into the stands for six.

But the bowler has his revenge when Price tries it again, misses and is bowled.

Still, a very good contribution from Tom Price, putting on 162 with his brother Oli, who remains on 91.

  6. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Leicesterpublished at 17:39 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Leicester 422 v Durham 517-6 & 220-2

Alex Lees is on 99 and Daniel Bedingham on 76 and the pair have put on 136 for the third Durham wicket, but the light has worsened and the drizzle has begun.

Durham are 315 runs ahead with eight wickets in hand.

  7. wicket

WICKET Moores c Rew b Aldridge 24published at 17:36 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Somerset 163 & 514-8 v Nottinghamshire 186 & 67-8

    Make that two wickets!!

Kasey Aldridge puts the ball in the right spot and Tom Moores obliges as he nicks it behind.

Somerset could be set for their biggest ever margin of victory in terms of runs, which currently stands at 425.

    Notts trail by 431.

  8. wicket

WICKET Hutton c Rew b Davey 0published at 17:33 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Somerset 163 & 514-8 dec v Nottinghamshire 186 & 63-7

Only three more wickets now for Somerset!

Josh Davey cuts Brett Hutton in half with an absolute beauty. Somerset players appeal, the umpire gives nothing but Hutton obliges by walking off.

The game was up a good few overs ago for Notts!

  9. wicket

WICKET - Smith lbw b Bailey 4published at 17:32 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

Surrey 15-3, chasing 208 to beat Lancashire

    Tom Bailey again!!! Wow!

Under the lights, with the Kookaburra, the Baildog has stepped up.

Jamie Smith is trapped in front - and England pair Rory Burns and Ben Foakes now have a job on for to survive the next 13 overs before the scheduled close.

  10. wicket

WICKET Northeast run out (Clark) 104published at 17:30 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Glamorgan 242 & 319 v Sussex 203

Sam Northeast pulls James Coles to deep mid-wicket but cannot beat the throw back attempting a second and that's the end of the Glamorgan innings.

Glamorgan have a lead of 358 with up to 17 overs possible tonight and a full day tomorrow in which to claim 10 wickets on a tricky surface.

  11. 100 runs

for Sam Northeastpublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Glamorgan 242 & 318-9 v Sussex 203

His best return since the infamous 410* at the end of last July.

Runs have been hard to come by at times but Sam Northeast has dug deep to hang around on a tricky track at Sophia Gardens for 191 balls.

With the prospect of running out of partners, a six and four off James Coles in consecutive deliveries took him to 97 and, after anxiously watching last man Jamie McIlroy negotiate an entire over, Northeast clubbed Coles for a straight six back over his head to bring up three figures for the 27th time in his first-class career.

Form is temporary, and all that...

  12. wicket

    WICKET - Latham c sub (Jones) b Bailey 0published at 17:27 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

Surrey 7-2, chasing 208 to win

Blimey! Tom Bailey on a hat-trick

Tom Latham goes first ball, caught low down by Rob Jones.

  13. wicket

WICKET Mullaney c Rew b Aldridge 23published at 17:26 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Somerset 163 & 514-8 dec v Nottinghamshire 186 & 62-6

Somerset fancy a day off here!

Notts captain Steven Mullaney is the latest man to go as he edges behind and Kasey Aldridge gets in the wickets.

There are 17 overs left tonight for the Cider Boys to clinch a three-day win.

  14. Bad light stops play at Northamptonpublished at 17:25 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Northants 237 & 214-5 v Kent 621

Ben Compton takes a blow on the back of the head as Saif Zaib sweeps off Joe Denly. The Kent physio is out to carry out an assesment and is given the all-clear.

But they will not resume... the clouds are gathering and the gloom is deepening and the players are heading off. A light reading is taken.

The weather radar does not look very promising either.

Helpful for Northants, given their situation, 170 runs adrift with five wickets down.

  15. wicket

    WICKET - Sibley c sub (Jones) b Bailey 1published at 17:25 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

Surrey 7-1, chasing 208 to beat Lancashire

First blood to Lancashire in the ninth over as Tom Bailey strikes.

Dom Sibley edges to first slip, where Rob Jones, deputising for Daryl Mitchell, takes the catch.

    In comes Tom Latham.

  16. Back on in Leedspublished at 17:24 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Yorkshire 550-9 dec v Gloucestershire 386-6

The on-off day in Leeds continues as the players have returned to the field.

Can the Yorkshire bowlers find a way past either of the Price brothers?

  17. Postpublished at 17:20 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Somerset 163 & 514-8 dec v Nottinghamshire 186 & 58-5

The sight of Kasey Aldridge with the ball is a welcome one for the Notts batters as he replaces Matt Henry.

Both Tom Moores and captain Steven Mullaney collect a boundary in an over worth 12.

Only 434 runs needed for victory!

  18. Sibley off the markpublished at 17:14 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

Surrey 3-0, chasing 208 to beat Lancashire

Dom Sibley gets off the mark in the sixth over.

The England opener is typically watchful, but perhaps even more so this time after his 18-ball duck in the first innings.

  19. wicket

WICKET Procter lbw b Leaning 52published at 17:13 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Northants 237 & 204-5 v Kent 621

Big wicket for Kent. With the light too poor for Arshdeep Singh to continue bowling pace, Jack Leaning brings himself on to bowl and gets his second ball to straighten up on Luke Procter, thudding his pads.

His 159 ball vigil is at an end. Procter stood stock still for a long while but the sight of Leaning on his knees screaming into the sky eventually sent him on his way.

Lewis McManus joins Saif Zaib who has a breezy 37 from 43 to put on 51 for that wicket with Procter. 10 overs to come tonight after this one.

  20. ESSEX BEAT WARWICKSHIRE BY NINE WICKETSpublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 27 June 2023
    Breaking

    Essex 457 & 85-1 v Warwickshire 158 & 381

Jake Lintott's delivery beats everything and runs away for four byes to bring Essex the runs they require for victory with Sir Alastair Cook unbeaten on 23 and captain Tom Westley on 12

A dominant win for the home side as they move up to second in the Division One table after this full 24-point success.

First innings hundreds from Dan Lawrence and Tom Westley set the game up and ten wickets from Simon Harmer settled it - that is the blueprint for an Essex win at Chelmsford.

Warwickshire collect only two points and drop down to fourth in the table.
