    Surrey 151-5 v Notts

Dane Paterson bangs one in short, Ben Foakes shapes to pull but then thinks better of it and drops his hands, allowing the ball to strike his torso. No delay necessary - he bats on.

    Middlesex v Northants 115-4

Northants are hanging on here at a blustery Merchant Taylors' - scrapping for runs at a rate of two an over.

Middlesex skipper Roland-Jones is back on at the Lake End, and Keogh almost overbalances as he pushes a single into mid off.

A leg stump ball is flicked in front of square by Procter for one more.

A rare boundary off the sixth ball as Rojo overpitches and is driven down the ground by Keogh.

  3. Pitch inspection at Taunton at 15:15 BSTpublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 10 July 2023

    Somerset 74-4 v Hampshire

Hampshire will be desperate to get back out there to resume their stranglehold on proceedings.

Fingers crossed for no more rain. The radar looks promising at least.

    Durham v Glos 191-3

Close! Frustration for Ben Raine as Roelofsen hooks just over the fielder at backward square leg for his first boundary.

Four more safely pulled away by Dent off Pretorius.

    Surrey 144-5 v Notts

Jordan Clark square cuts Dane Paterson for four and then drives the next ball through the covers for another. He is quickly into double figures following Will Jacks' downfall, with Ben Foakes 21 not out at the other end.

  6. Postpublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 10 July 2023

    Middlesex v Northants 107-4

Another LBW shout, this time by Higgins against Keogh as he misses an attempted clip to square leg.

The fourth ball is tapped away to mid-wicket for two.

Middlesex keeping Northants in check here.

  7. Postpublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 10 July 2023

    Durham v Glos 183-3

Roelofsen is off the mark, tucking a wide ball from Parkinson behind square for a single.

Dent sweeps the fourth ball square and runs three as the ball is picked up just inside the rope.

    Kent 171 v Warwickshire 0-0

Arshdeep Singh charges in with the new ball as Kent set about the unenviable task of defending a meagre-looking 171 at Canterbury.

Rob Yates and Alex Davies open up for the visitors who are seeking maximum points to help keep them in the fight for the podium places in Division One, at the very least.

    Lancashire v Essex 12-1

We only had 4.1 overs of play this morning because of rain.

    Middlesex v Northants 104-4

This is not an easy pitch to bat on, offering movement - and uneven bounce at times.

Procter is squared up a little by Higgins but survives the over.

Huge LBW shout by Bamber against Keogh but the umpire says no.

Just outside the line? Keogh is well forward, too.

Another LBW shout and this time the ball is going over the stumps.

  11. Postpublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 10 July 2023

    Durham v Glos 175-3

If Durham can prize Dent out now they'll feel like they're right back into this match.

But Carse offers too much width outside off stump and Dent slaps the ball through point for four runs.

The new batter is Grant Roelofsen, replacing Miles Hammond.

Still raining at Worcesterpublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 10 July 2023

    Yorkshire 142-0 v Worcestershire

    Ged Scott
    BBC Sport at New Road

Just when they were set for a 10-to-three resumption at New Road, it has started raining again.

An early tea looks inevitable, although the more discerning of the locals have wasted no time and are already tucking into coffee and cake over in the famed Ladies' Pavilion.

The extended break has allowed for a little leafing through the stats books - and this stand of 142 is now not only the best opening parnership of the season for Adam Lyth and Fin Bean, but the best in their nine County Championship matches opening the batting together - and Yorkshire's best for the first wicket in almost six years.

  13. wicket

WICKET Jacks c Moores b Paterson 35published at 14:46 British Summer Time 10 July 2023

    Surrey 130-5 v Notts

Is the influence of Bazball all positive?

Will Jacks comes down the track and tries to hammer Dane Paterson over mid-wicket, but the ball takes the edge and keeper Tom Moores claims the catch.

Absolutely no need for Jacks to try that shot and his downfall ends a stand of 60 with Ben Foakes.

  14. wicket

    WICKET Stewart c b Hannon-Dalby 50published at 14:46 British Summer Time 10 July 2023

    Kent 171 v Warwickshire

Grant Stewart goes big, aiming for his sixth six, but he miscues it slightly and Chris Rushworth is able to pouch it in the deep. The counter-attack is over. Kent are 171 all-out. Way below par, but far beyond what might have been expected an hour ago.

Oliver Hannon-Dalby finishes with 4-56 - which would have been a lot cheaper had it not been for the tail-end onslaught.

  15. Postpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 10 July 2023

    Surrey 130-4 v Notts

Change of tactic by Notts as Calvin Harrison comes on for his first over of leg-spin. Three singles before Ben Foakes whips a short one to mid-wicket for four. He is 19 not out.

    Quote Message

He is on primarily to hold an end up, keep it quiet - he can't afford to go for five, six, seven an over."

  16. wicket

WICKET Whiteman c Eskinazi b Higgins 11published at 14:40 British Summer Time 10 July 2023

    Middlesex v Northants 101-4

Northants are in a spot of bother.

Whiteman is squared up by Higgins and edges to first slip.

Great grab by Eskinazi, stumbling backwards and taking the ball at waist height.

    Rob Keogh to bat next.

  17. wicket

WICKET Hammond c Borthwick b Parkinson 52published at 14:39 British Summer Time 10 July 2023

    Durham v Glos 170-3

More punishment for the Durham attack as a Carse half volley is punched away through mid wicket for four.

But Hammond has gone! He advances down the track to Parkinson and miscues a booming drive to Borthwick at mid on.

That wicket came out of nowhere - and goodness me, Durham needed it.

  18. Division Two updatepublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 10 July 2023

Briefly brighter at New Road where the umpires were hoping to re-start play at 14:50 - but it's raining again now. Yorkshire are 142-0 - Adam Lyth 75 not out and Finlay Bean on 59.

Another wicket has fallen at Hove, with James Coles caught at long-on off Alex Thomson two balls after hitting a six in the same direction. He made 14 and Sussex are 190-3 after 42 overs against Derbyshire.

  19. Postpublished at 14:36 British Summer Time 10 July 2023

    Middlesex v Northants 101-3

Runs continue to be hard to come by for the visitors, who will be in deep trouble if they lose another one now.

Procter defends against Bamber outside off - then follows a leg side ball and misses it.

The sixth ball is tapped away through square leg for two to bring Northants to three figures in the 44th over.

  20. Postpublished at 14:36 British Summer Time 10 July 2023

    Surrey 119-4 v Notts

Only two slips in now for Notts as Will Jacks slaps the first ball of another Brett Hutton over through the covers for four. Nothing else doing from that one, though, but only one more run needed for a 50 partnership between Jacks and Ben Foakes.
