    Lancs v Essex 87-4

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

Tom Westley continues his impressive summer with the bat for Essex and he's held this innings together through the morning session.

Lancashire have bowled well, four bowlers used with Tom Bailey and Will Williams the pick for the home side. Colin de Grandhomme, no longer sporting a mullet, has bowled a tidy spell while Jack Blatherwick has bowled with good pace.

Thankfully, after just 28 balls were possible on the first day we've had no interruptions on day two, the weather on the Fylde Coast has been much kinder to Blackpool Cricket Club, hosting their first Championship match in over a decade.

  2. Lunch at Canterburypublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Kent 171 v Warwickshire 271-5

Bears lead by 100 at lunch on day two with Rob Yates on 102* from 258 deliveries and Glenn Maxwell on 31* from 33. Contrast.

Kent have made inroads but they have more work to do this afternoon to prevent Warwickshire's grip on the game from becoming a stranglehold.

  3. Lunch at The Ovalpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Surrey 355 v Nottinghamshire 81-1

A decent morning for Notts, who quickly polished off the Surrey tail, and have reached lunch for the loss of only Ben Slater.

Will Young (31 not out) is looking in good touch on debut - although Surrey have been guilty of bowling at his pads - and has so far added 54 with Haseeb Hameed (32) in 15 overs.

Surrey only added 16 to their overnight 339-8 as Lyndon James finished with a career-best 6-74.

  4. Lunch at Merchant Taylors'published at 13:01 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Middlesex 127-4 v Northants 219

Keogh has an over before lunch and it's a bit of a mixed bag, including two wides and a single.

A good session for Northants overall, though - with four wickets falling.

But Middlesex are only 92 behind with Holden and Simpson at the crease.

  5. 100 runs

Century for Fin Beanpublished at 13:00 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Yorkshire 210-1 v Worcestershire

Yorkshire opener Fin Bean reaches his second century in successive County Championship games with a push for two through the legside.

It is his third for the Tykes in only his 10th first-class match, having been part of Yorkshire's best opening stand in almost seven years.

But he is clearly an advocate of the Kookaburra ball.

  6. Postpublished at 12:59 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Durham 93-2 v Glos 316

Lees is really going after spinner Zafar Gohar now, picking up four more with a reverse sweep and another four scythed through cover.

Durham are racing along here and the pressure is firmly on the visitors.

  7. First-class highest score for James Rewpublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Somerset 322-6 v Hampshire

He's only 19, have we mentioned... he passes his 123* previous best and celebrates in style with a sumptuous on-drive for another four.

    Some player.

  8. 50 runs

50 for Alex Leespublished at 12:57 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Durham 78-2 v Glos 316

Zafar is into the attack and Lees sweeps hard to square leg for one to reach his 50.

That's his fourth of the season - and he also has two centuries.

Just 56 balls - and he's hit eight fours. Bazball.

  9. Durham rattling alongpublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Durham 79-2 v Gloucestershire 316

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Despite the loss of Michael Jones in the second over, Durham have been rattling along at around five an over.

Scott Borthwick and Alex Lees found the boundary regularly and put on 50 in 10 overs. Their partnership ended at 67 when Borthwick pulled a ball from Josh Shaw straight to substitute fielder Jack Taylor on the square leg boundary.

It's only a 50-metre boundary, but as soon as he hit it, Borthwick knew he didn't have enough on it. He was out for 23.

Lees reached 50 in 56 balls and eight fours. It's the sixth time he's got there this season and the 28th time with Durham since joining them in August 2018.

Michael Jones fell lbw to a low in-swinger from Josh Shaw when he was on four.

  10. 100 runs

for Rob Yatespublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Kent 171 v Warwickshire 265-5

His second against Kent this summer, brought up with his ninth four from the 252nd ball he has faced, carving away Arshdeep Singh to the fence.

A crucial innings and a huge part of why Warwickshire have a 94-run lead with five wickets in hand.

Glenn Maxwell has 27 not out at the other end and the Bears have their second batting bonus point in their sights.

  11. Postpublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Surrey 355 v Notts 75-1

Surrey call up Jamie Overton for his first over in a County Championship match this season. It seems a long time since he played a Test for England, but it was only just over a year ago.

He falls into the same trap as Tom Lawes by straying onto leg stump and Will Young unerringly flicks it down to fine leg for four.

    Middlesex 122-4 v Northants 219

    Out! Sanderson has his second.

Malan tries to force a slightly wide ball away off the back foot and edges to second slip.

Sharp catch at waist height for Emilio Gay.

Northants are ending the session on a high as Simpson now comes in to bat.

  13. Postpublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Lancs v Essex 77-4

Just a couple of singles from the latest Colin de Grandhomme over at Stanley Park. Tom Westley is 42 not out, but this has been Lancashire's morning.

  14. Postpublished at 12:51 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Surrey 355 v Notts 68-1

Another Tom Lawes over ticks by, another leg-side boundary for Will Young, this time punched away past mid-on.

Young made 672 Championship runs for Northamptonshire last season and Notts will be hoping for healthy numbers from his three-match stint with them, which has begun with this trip to The Oval.

    Yorkshire 204-1 v Worcestershire

    Ged Scott
    BBC Sport at New Road

We're playing again at New Road - after a 40-minute rain break.

And, almost immediately, the Yorkshire 200 comes up.

With Fin Bean on 96, it might not be long before the spectators are warming their palms again.

11 further overs have been lost folllowing the earlier delayed start. And lunch will be a little late at 10 past one.

    Durham 77-2 v Glos 316

Out! Borthwick gets a short ball and pulls to deep square....

Caught by sub fielder Jack Taylor a yard inside the boundary.

A dismissal to forget for Borthwick after a promising innings.

    David Bedingham will bat next.

    Middlesex 122-3 v northants 219

White is into a tidy spell here, bowling a tight line on off stump.

Holden pushes the ball into the covers but can't get it away.

    Maiden over.

  18. Postpublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Middlesex 122-3 v Northants

Sanderson is wide outside off stump and Malan smashes the ball through cover for four.

    That ball sat up nicely.

Can Northants prize one more batter out before lunch?

Not with this ball, which is only just outside off stump - and forced away through cover off the back foot for four more. Quality batting.

  19. Postpublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Surrey 355 v Notts 63-1

Tom Lawes fails to heed the lesson of his previous over and is again clipped away for four by Will Young, who advances to 17 not out. Haseeb Hameed is on 29 at the other end, with Ben Slater still the only wicket to fall in the Notts first innings.

  20. 300 runs

up for Somersetpublished at 12:41 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Somerset 300-6 v Hampshire

James Rew has moved onto 115 and Dom Bess has breezed along to 23, bringing up a second batting bonus point for the hosts - something which seemed unlikely at 41-4 on the first morning, if truth be told.
