WICKET Aldridge c Brown b Dawson 88published at 12:09 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Somerset 268-6 v Hampshire

Kasey Aldridge was dropped on eight and made Hampshire pay by breezing to 88 but the partnership with James Rew is over.

Liam Dawson draws him forward and gets a bit of turn away, glancing the edge and offering Ben Brown a simple catch behind.

The club-record stand for the sixth-wicket against Hampshire of 188 was put on by two players who are a year older than Jimmy Anderson... combined.

On loan Dom Bess is the new man, back at Taunton, joining James Rew.

  2. wicket

WICKET Critchley c Salt b Williams 13published at 12:08 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Lancs v Essex 55-4

Second wicket of the morning for Will Williams, who has now switched ends at Stanley Park.

    Middlesex 88-1 v Northants 219

    Mark StonemanImage source, Rex Features

White is back in the attack and Stoneman defends. Northants have definitely bowled better this morning than they did in last night's 5-over session but only one wicket taken - that of night watchman Ethan Bamber.

    Stoneman is on 48.

  4. wicket

WICKET Slater c Latham b Abbott 14published at 12:05 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Surrey 355 v Notts 27-1

Surrey have the breakthrough at The Oval as Ben Slater edges Sean Abbott to second slip where Tom Latham takes the catch. A good ball that one, which just did enough off the pitch.

Haseeb Hameed is 13 not out and has now been joined by Notts debutant Will Young.

    Durham 40-1 v Glos 316

Borthwick gets away with an edge off Taylor which sends the ball wide of third slip and away for four runs.

Durham are going at near enough a run a ball here.

He takes two more fours off Shaw, both driven through the off side on the back foot.

  6. Division Two updatepublished at 12:03 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

Just seven and a half overs bowled at New Road and the teams are off again because of rain. Yorkshire have progressed to 179-1, with Worcestershire's Ben Gibbon removing Adam Lyth for 79.

Derbyshire are five overs into their reply to Sussex's 402 all out and have already lost Harry Came, caught by Dan Ibrahim off Henry Shipley for 12. The visitors are 20-1.

No resumption yet in Cardiff where the first five balls of the game were finally bowled by Leicestershire's Chris Wright to Glamorgan opener Zain ul-Hassan before bad weather returned.

An early lunch will be taken at 12:30 to be followed by an inspection at 13:10.

  7. Postpublished at 12:01 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Middlesex 83-1 v Northants 219

Stoneman looks in good touch here, driving to mid off with a pleasing sound of leather on willow.

No run this time but the ball is racing off the bat for the opener.

Taylor beats Stoneman outside off. Solid start for Middlesex but there's still something there for the bowlers on this pitch.

A short and wide ball is back-foot driven through cover for four.

  8. Durham make up for lost timepublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Durham 27-1 v Gloucestershire 316

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

It didn't take Durham long to wrap things up this morning. Having lost 22 overs to rain last night, there will be 104 today.

Itt took the hosts less than seven of them to claim the remaining four wickets, as Gloucestershire managed to add just another 36 runs.

Brydon Carse took two in two balls as Josh Shaw fell for 16 and Matt Taylor got a first-baller - both caught behind off short deliveries down the leg side.

The total moved to 316 when Durham took the new ball after 80 overs. And three deliveries later it was back in its box, as Ben Raine bowled Zafar Gohar for 34 and then had Dom Goodman lbw for none.

I would suggest there were more runs to be had than Gloucestershire managed to accrue. But they are are struggling with injuries and yet to win a game this season in the Championship. Can Durham press ahead and take advantage? We'll see.

  9. Postpublished at 11:57 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Surrey 355 v Notts 14-0

Four slips and a short leg in place as Sean Abbott bowls to Notts captain Haseeb Hameed.

The opener flashes and the ball only just clears first slip as it flies down to third man for the right-hander's first boundary.

  10. Postpublished at 11:56 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Durham 27-1 v Durham 316

A trio of fours to Lees off successive balls, who gets some width from Shaw and drills the bowler through cover.

He repeats the shot next ball and gets another boundary.

    Four more clipped through mid-wicket!

  11. Postpublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Lancs v Essex 45-3

A productive over for Essex as Tom Westley clips a loose ball from Tom Bailey through square leg for four.

The final delivery is a slow, loopy full toss - did Bailey lose his grip on the ball? - and Matt Critchley has to wait for it to arrive before putting it away through mid-off.

  12. Postpublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Middlesex 73-1 v Northants 219

More scoreboard issues here - this time with the pavilion based board.

Big shout for LBW by Taylor against Stoneman but its not out.

Stoneman is squared up a little by the next ball and the opener jabs the ball safely down into the off side.

Singles to square leg for Stoneman and Robson.

A b-e-a-utiful cover drive from James Rew brings up yet another century. The 19-year-old is a very special player. He will play for England. It's a matter of when.

His celebrations are low-key, almost as if he is used to it. That's his fifth of the season, so he might well be.

It took 184 balls and featured 13 fours. Some of them so delicious they were calorific.

Kasey Aldridge has 69 at the other end. They have batted very well and their partnership is 159 - a record for the club for the sixth wicket against Hampshire. Somerset are well and truly back in this.

    Kent 171 v Warwickshire 200-3

The lead is 29 and they will have bonus batting points on their mind before too long.

  16. More rain in Cardiffpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

Glamorgan v LeicestershireImage source, Rex Features

Finally, we have had some play at Sophia Gardens following yesterday's washout - not much of it, though.

Glamorgan were put in by Leicestershire and just five balls into Chris Wright's opening over to Zain ul-Hassan, the rain returned and they are off again.

They are also out in the middle now at Worcester where Adam Lyth has just fallen lbw to Ben Gibbon and Yorkshire are 177-1, with Finlay Bean 85 not out.

  17. wicket

WICKET Jones lbw b Shaw 4published at 11:46 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Durham 10-1 v Glos 316

Jones gets four with a gentle dab through gully off Taylor.

Three runs to Lees off Shaw - and Jones is gone!

The ball keeps low and Jones is barely forward to it as the ball strikes at ankle height in front of middle and leg.

Durham skipper Scott Borthwick is in at three.

  18. 6 runs

For Jacob Bethellpublished at 11:44 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Kent 171 v Warwickshire 199-3

Spinner Hamid Qadri has bowled 16 overs for 33, and has just gone for 10 off the first two balls of his latest over to Jacob Bethell.

The second ball was a full-toss which gets the treatment, pulled over deep square and into the gardens of the retirment flats.

Another four, surrounded by three dots, completes the over. Bethell has 14, Rob Yates remains there on 80.

  19. Postpublished at 11:44 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Middlesex 62-1 v Northants 219

Phew. The scoreboard is working again. The umpires and scorers can breathe more easily.

Robson drives Taylor through the covers for four. Middlesex are making this look easy.

Four more - edged just wide of Gay at second slip. No third - and it would've been a regulation chance there.

    Sorry. Commentator's curse there.

  20. Durham begin their first inningspublished at 11:40 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Durham 0-0 v Glos 316

I wonder if Alex Lees and Michael Jones expected to be batting this early today?

Matt Taylor will bowl first - to Lees.
