Play is just getting underway with 100 overs scheduled in the day. There's been some heavy showers in the area and depending on which weather app you look at, there will be a few more, or none at all.
Durham are in a position of strength with a lead of 117 and have two first innings wickets left. Their first task is to get to 450 and bag maximum batting points for the fifth time this season.
Brydon Carse is resuming his innings on 60.
Surrey 355 v Notts 266-5
An early opportunity for Jordan Clark to add a wicket or two to his 107 in Surrey's first innings.
Nothing doing in his opening over, though, as Brett Hutton flashes the ball away square for four.
Durham 435-8 v Glos 316
A quiet start for Durham in marked contrast to the batting carnage we saw yesterday afternoon.
A single apiece for Carse and Potts in the first over of the day.
Zaman Akhter will bowl at the other end.
Derbyshire began the day on 212-3 against Sussex at Hove and have made a positive start, adding 20 runs already.
Leus du Plooy clips Henry Shipley through mid-wicket for four in the latest over and he is now 44 not out, with Brooke Guest on 87.
In case you missed the earlier post, there will be an inspection in Cardiff at 11:30 with Glamorgan 54-1 against Leicestershire.
Durham 433-8 v Glos 316
1115 BST start here after damp, gloomy conditions earlier this morning.
The hosts are already a long way in front and just short of maximum batting bonus points.
Will they declare if they reach that point?
Will they give Brydon Carse a chance to have a dart for what would be his second first class century?
But bear in mind, we've had rain around Chester-le-Street earlier this morning with the chance of more to come, so Durham will need to decide how much time they need to make inroads into the Gloucester second innings.
Matt Taylor will bowl from the Lumley End to Carse.
Middlesex 277 v Northants 219 & 60-2
Northants captain Luke Procter has come in for the retired Emilio Gay.
He's squared up by his third ball and edges just short of slip.
Nervous times for Northants.
Kent 171 & 60-1 v Warwickshire 549-7 dec
Just the three scoring shots in the opening three overs of the morning at Canterbury, where no news is good news for the home side.
They have added five runs to their overnight 55-1 but remain 318 in arrears.
Joe Denly has 32 with Ben Compton on 19.
Surrey 355 v Notts 259-5
As we expected, no delay in taking the new ball from Surrey.
Dan Worrall replaces Will Jacks for the day's third over.
Will Young takes a single from his opening delivery and moves to the cricket Nelson - 111.
Middlesex 277 v Northants 219 & 60-2
Whiteman tucks Bamber round the corner for a single to move on to 8.
Oddly enough, the physio is in the middle having a chat to Emilio Gay.
Remember, he had a knee operation a few months back that kept him out of the early Championship rounds.
Bad news - he's retired hurt on 24. Clearly in discomfort as he walks off the field.
Lancs 37-1 v Essex 282 - start delayed because of rain
Umpires Peter Hartley and Steve O'Shaughnessy have taken a look and unless there is further rain, play will start at 11:45 with 92 overs to be bowled in the day. Lunch will be at 13:30.
Somerset 500 v Hampshire 64-4
Hampshire are in disarray. Two wickets lost in three balls in the opening seven balls of the morning.
Jack Brooks sets off on another lap of honour after getting Nick Gubbins to nick to keeper James Rew who takes a fine catch low to his left. Yep. He keeps too. Yes. me too.
Liam Dawson is next in. He made 141 in his last knock. How his side need another of those innings now.
Surrey 355 v Notts 256-5
Notts have their first batting point as Will Young comes down the track and steers Will Jacks past mid-on for the day's first boundary.
There's another in the second over too as Brett Hutton handsomely cover drives an overpitched delivery from Jamie Overton.
Middlesex 277 v Northants 219 & 59-2 - lead by 1
Tight line from Higgins just outside off with a hint of movement away from the bat off the seam.
The fifth ball is into the pads and clipped away to square leg by Emilio Gay for two.
Northants are in credit.
Somerset 500 v Hampshire 64-3
The teenager's first wicket in first class cricket is James Vince.
Angled away by teenage debutant Alfie Ogborne and Vince pushes outside off, as he sometimes does, and edges to Tom Lammonby who takes a smart catch at third slip.
Ben Brown is the new man in. Just the 436 runs behind.
Middlesex 277 v Northants 219 & 57-2
Good pace first up for Bamber and Whiteman nudges the third ball away to third man for the first run of the day.
Gay is a bit hurried by his second ball of the day as he jabs the bat down and takes a single into the leg side.
Ryan Higgins, Middlesex hero of day two, will bowl next.
Surrey 355 v Notts 248-5
No weather issues in the Kennington corner of London.
Only two overs to go to the new ball for Surrey and they are clearly in a hurry to take it as soon as possible.
Off-spinner Will Jacks will bowl the first of day three.
Somerset 500 v Hampshire 63-2
James Vince flashes an edge past third slip off a rank full toss from 19-year-old Alfie Ogborne to start the day's proceedings at Taunton.
He is on 16 with Nick Gubbins on 13 at the other end. Rearguard effort for the visitors today, you'd expect.
Middlesex 277 v Northants 219 & 55-2
The visitors are still three runs in arrears but we know that their skipper believes a lead of 200 plus could be hard work on a pitch that has offered a bit of bounce and movement more often than not.
Emilio Gay and Sam Whiteman will begin the task of getting Northants to parity and beyond.
We had a bit of rain here overnight - but mercifully not now.
That might spice up the pitch a bit more for the Middlesex attack, though.
Ethan Bamber will bowl to Whiteman from the Benham End.
