  1. wicket

WICKET Swepson c Handscomb b Parkinson 69published at 17:49 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Glamorgan 344-9 v Leics

The partnership is over at Sophia Gardens as Mitchell Swepson lifts his head as he tries to smash Callum Parkinson down the ground and Peter Handscomb whips off the bails.

"A huge heave - that was the shot of a number 10, but a number 10 who has just smashed 69 off 69 deliveries," says BBC Radio Leicester's Richard Rae.

Half-century stand for Finch and Gibbonpublished at 17:46 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Yorkshire 407, Worcestershire 229-9

Whoever thought a Finch and a Gibbon could combine to score 50 runs together.

Worcestershire number 10 Adam Finch and number 11 Ben Gibbon have now ddfiantly added a limpet-like 50 runs in 31 overs.

    193 balls it took though!

This is such a long way removed from Bazball.

  4. Durham chasing 52published at 17:45 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Durham 453 & 0-0 v Glos 316 & 188

    Here we go.

21 overs left tonight and a day's play tomorrow as Alex Lees and Michael Jones walk to the middle.

Zaman Akhter will bowl to Lees.

  5. wicket

WICKET Smith c Clarke b Harrison 2published at 17:45 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Surrey 355 & 144-3 v Notts 399

Another failure for Jamie Smith and what a tame dismissal it is.

He comes down the pitch but chips Calvin Harrison to Joe Clarke at mid-on.

If there is a consolation, and it's not much of one, it is that unlike skipper Rory Burns, he didn't make a pair in this game.

Ben Foakes is the new Surrey batter.

  6. Division Two updatepublished at 17:44 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

Michael Neser and Mitchell Swepson are continuing their big partnership for Glamorgan against Leicestershire in Cardiff.

Neser is 129 not out, Swepson has 67 and they have put on 120 in their team's 341-8.

No further joy for Derbyshire at Hove where Sussex are 136-4 in their second innings, a lead of 131.

James Coles is 67 not out and Dan Ibrahim has 20.

  7. Postpublished at 17:43 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Middlesex 277 v Northants 219 & 277-5 - lead by 219

Taylor picks up a single off his first ball and Gay is down the track to De Caires, launching the bowler down to long on for four.

I think we can see the strategy here. Quick runs and put the opposition in tonight.

  8. wicket

WICKET Abbas lbw b Bess 0published at 17:40 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Somerset 500 v Hampshire 330

Poor Kyle Abbott, stranded on 89, eight shy of his first-class best.

Mohammad Abbas is trapped in front by Dom Bess without scoring.

Somerset have enforced the follow-on. Bold. The lead is 170.

  9. wicket

WICKET Zaib c Bamber b De Caires 2published at 17:39 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Middlesex 277 v Northants 219 & 272-5 - lead by 214

It's a brief innings from Zaib, who comes and goes in just four deliveries.

A reverse sweep off De Caires results in a top edge, taken by Bamber at backward point.

Tom Taylor will have a bat ahead of Rob Keogh and Lewis McManus.

    Pinch hitting strategy?

  10. 6 runs

for Grant Stewartpublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Kent 171 & 295-5 v Warwickshire 549-7 dec

    The Canterbury Tails continue...

Kent reached 171 having been 78-7, Warwickshire went from 349-6 to 549-7 dec and Grant Stewart has just gone 4-6-6 off Chris Rushworth, taking advantage of the short leg-side boundary.

    Kent are 83 behind.

  11. wicket

WICKET Latham c Moores b Paterson 60published at 17:37 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Surrey 355 & 141-2 v Notts 399

He's at it again. Tom Moores took six catches in Surrey's first innings and now has another as Tom Latham leg glances.

Latham put on 141 with Dom Sibley following Rory Burns' dismissal in the first over.

That should make Moores feel better after a painful blow in the face earlier on.

WICKET Hammond c Parkinson b Carse 86published at 17:36 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Durham 453 v Glos 316 & 188 - lead by 51

Hammond picks up a four down the ground and a single off Parkinson but he's gone in the next over.

He pulls a short ball from Carse and that's a fine catch under darkening skies at deep mid wicket by Parkinson.

The target is 52 with 21 over left tonight.

  14. 50 runs

for Mitchell Swepsonpublished at 17:33 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Glamorgan 320-8 v Leicestershire

A maiden first class half century for Mitch Swepson, brought up in 53 balls with his eighth four, as Glamorgan's bowlers continue to show their batters how it's done. He adds number nine for good measure from the next ball.

Glamorgan were 93-7 but they have reached 320-8 thanks to Michael Neser's unbeaten 118, 47 from James Harris and now Swepson who has 58*.

  15. wicket

They lead by 259 as Paul Walter comes out to join Dan Lawrence, who has 66.

  16. wicket

WICKET Akhter c Bedingham b Parkinson 12published at 17:31 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Durham 453 v Glos 316 & 180-9

Parkinson is back in the attack and strikes with his third ball.

Lovely ball, full, flighted and a hint of turn as Akhter tries to hit to the leg side.

Bedingham takes it at silly point off a leading edge.

The number 11 is Dom Goodman.

  17. wicket

    WICKET Whiteman b Roland-Jones 109published at 17:31 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Middlesex 277 v Northants 219 & 267-4 - lead by 208

Gay gets guides a wide off side ball from Roland-Jones through third man for a single to move on to 49.

Half an LBW shout against Whiteman is turned down off the next ball.

Bowled him! A superb innings is over.

Back of a length, Whiteman swings, misses and loses his leg stump.

The lead is 209 and Saif Zaib will try to stretch it further.

  18. wicket

WICKET Organ st Rew b Bashir 97published at 17:29 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Somerset 500 v Hampshire 329-9

Oh no. Felix Organ falls three shy of a fourth first class century. He takes a big stride down the pitch against Shoaib Bashir but then comes forward to defend and misses the ball.

James Rew does the rest. Wild celebrations. Organ looks devastated.

A club record ninth wicket stand of 177 is at an end.

Kyle Abbott, on 88, is joined by No11 Mohammad Abbas.

  19. Postpublished at 17:26 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Durham 453 v Glos 316 & 179-8 - lead by 42

Carse tries to bounce Akhter out but it's leg side and the batter ducks easily.

He gets a single off the last ball and drives Ben Raine through the off side for four.

A short ball is top edged over fine leg for four.

  20. wicket

WICKET Evison c Burgess b Brookes 31published at 17:25 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Kent 171 & 267-7 v Warwickshire 549-7 dec

    Sorry, Joey.

Evison plays at the final ball of his first over with the new ball from Henry Brookes. He really shouldn't have. He can only find the edge and Michael Burgess takes a neat catch diving to his right.

Hamid Qadri joins Grant Stewart in the middle. 109 to find, at least.
