    Lancs 145 & 86-1 v Essex 282 & 292-8 dec

If you are wondering what has happened to the radio commentary from Stanley Park, there is a power cut, apparently.

Luke Wells picks up a couple of boundaries at the start of a new Sam Cook spell and progresses to 39 not out.

  2. Postpublished at 12:15 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Sussex 402 & 282-7 v Derbys 407 - lead by 278

Carson is off to a bright start with fours in successive overs off Thomson and Du Plooy.

The first is nudged away to fine leg and the second is driven through mid off.

Four more cut just wide of slip and past gully three balls later.

  3. 50 runs

for Will Jackspublished at 12:14 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Surrey 355 & 259-5 v Notts 399

There is a little bit of away shape there for Brett Hutton, but Will Jacks spots it and strokes the ball away for four anyway.

It takes him to 50 off 91 balls and this has been a very mature exhibition by the Surrey all-rounder thus far.

  4. 6 runs

Postpublished at 12:13 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Lancs 145 & 75-1 v Essex 282 & 292-8 dec

Lancashire certainly aren't retreating into their shell following the loss of Keaton Jennings.

Luke Wells puts Doug Bracewell away for six and Josh Bohannon does the same at the start of a new Simon Harmer over.

  5. 50 runs

for Rishi Patelpublished at 12:13 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Glamorgan 403-9 dec v Leicestershire 86-1

His third half-century of the season, to go with three centuries. He can really play.

If he's playing like this it might be four before lunch. James Harris comes on and bowls full and outside off and Patel flashes a square

drive to bring up the milestone with his eighth four in a 74-ball stint.

  6. Postpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Middlesex 277 & 22-2 v Northants 219 & 380

Holden survives the hat trick ball, turning the ball round the corner to fine leg for one.

Tension running high at Merchant Taylors' in a must-win game for both sides in their bid to avoid relegation.

  7. Postpublished at 12:08 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Surrey 355 & 250-5 v Notts 399

Tom Lawes pushes Matthew Montgomery to mid-on for a single as the Surrey total reaches 250.

So far, so good for the home side - and you wonder what kind of lead they are looking for before contemplating a declaration.

  8. wicket

WICKET Malan b Sanderson 0published at 12:08 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Middlesex 277 & 21-2 v Northants 219 & 380 - target 323

Two in two balls for Sanderson!

Malan plays around it and the ball clips the top of off stump, which clatters to the ground.

Max Holden to face the hat trick ball...

  9. wicket

WICKET Stoneman lbw b Sanderson 12published at 12:07 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Middlesex 277 & 21-1 v Northants 219 & 380 - target 323

Sanderson strikes. A bit of movement into the left-hander and the ball keeps low.

Stoneman is trapped below the knee roll in front of middle and the umpire raises the finger.

  10. Five-wicket haul for Alex Thomsonpublished at 12:06 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Sussex 402 & 259-7 v Derbys 407 - lead by 254

And with that McAndrew dismissal, Thomson's figures are 21.5-3-64-5.

  11. Postpublished at 12:03 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Middlesex 277 & 21-0 v Northants 219 & 380 - target 323

Still evidence of low bounce outside off stump, but the first ball of Sanderson's 5th over is wide of off stump and driven comfortably through cover by Stoneman for four.

Tom Taylor comes into the attack for Jack White at the other end - and Stoneman plays and misses the fourth ball trying to whip through mid-wicket. And breathe.

  12. wicket

WICKET Jennings c Buttleman b Bracewell 30published at 12:03 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

Keation Jennings tries to cut a wide delivery from Doug Bracewell and keeper Will Buttleman takes a superb left-handed catch behind the stumps.

Jennings stands his ground for several seconds as if expecting a reprieve from the umpire. But there certainly won't be one.

  13. 6 runs

for Lewis Hillpublished at 12:02 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Glamorgan 403-9 dec v Leicestershire 70-1

This was not a particularly loose ball from Mitch Swepson but my word Lewis Hill has picked it perfectly and launched the spinner over the long boundary at Cow Corner.

    What a hit.

He has 24, Rishi Patel has 40.

  14. wicket

WICKET McAndrew c Madsen b Thomson 4published at 12:02 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Sussex 402 & 259-7 v Derbys 407 - lead by 254

One ball after cutting Thomson through cover, McAndrew tries to clip to leg and gets a leading edge to Madsen at slip.

    Jack Carson to bat next.

  15. Notts look to new ballpublished at 12:01 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Surrey 355 & 246-5 v Notts 399

Lyndon James isn't quick enough to bowl them that short and Tom Lawes has loads of time to swivel and pull it away for four.

Surrey are now 201 ahead but the good news for Notts is the new ball is only four overs away.

A single for Will Jacks off Calvin Harrison posts a 50 partnership.

  16. Postpublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Lancs 145 & 58-0 v Essex 282 & 292-8

Luke Wells tucks Doug Bracewell to square leg for a single and that is a 50 partnership for the Lancashire openers.

Wells rocks back and square cuts Simon Harmer for four at the start of the next over and is then down the track and driving over mid-off.

  17. 12:00 BST restart at Tauntonpublished at 11:56 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Somerset 500 v Hampshire 330 & 45-3

Showers have skidded across Somerset and we have a window for some cricket.

The covers are coming off. Hampshire must resume their rearguard in a few minutes.

  18. Postpublished at 11:55 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Surrey 355 & 240-5 v Notts 399

Calvin Harrison is going through his variations, but there's no sign of any extravagant turn to worry Surrey's overnight pair.

His latest over is a maiden to Tow Lawes, who remains 18 not out, and the Surrey lead is 196.

  19. wicket

WICKET Hudson-Prentice run out (Thomson) 44published at 11:55 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Sussex 402 & 253-6 v Derbys 407 - lead by 248

    That's the end of a 68-run partnership.

Coles plays the ball to square leg, Hudson-Prentice runs and Coles stays put.

The return throw from Thomson is good - and that's a sharp run out for bowler Leus du Plooy, tumbling into the sticks with ball in hand.

    Nathan McAndrew is in next.

  20. Postpublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Sussex 402 & 251-5 v Derbys 407 - lead by 246

Hudson-Prentice takes Sussex to 250 at the end of the 67th over with a late nudge round the corner behind square for four off Alex Thomson, who raises his arms in frustration on his follow through.

Sussex have had the best of this session so far.
