  1. Postpublished at 11:23 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Middlesex 277 & 1-0 v Northants 219 & 380 - target 323

Single to Eskinazi off the second ball.

    Stoneman leaves outside off.

The last ball is leg side - and that's a swing and a miss from Stoneman, trying to clip to fine leg.

Jack White will bowl from the Lake End.

  2. wicket

WICKET Gibbon c Hill b Coad 15published at 11:22 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Worcs 242 & 34-2 v Yorkshire 407

    Ben Gibbon's watch is over.

He pushes forward off the back foot but can only loop an edge to George Hill at slip. Simple as you like.

Jake Libby is the new man, joining Gareth Roderick. The hosts trail by 131 runs. The first-last pair have gone. This is the game, now.

  3. Postpublished at 11:21 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Surrey 355 & 218-5 v Notts 399

A no-ball at the start of the latest Dane Paterson over at The Oval. Other than that, just a couple of singles added. Will Jacks is 26 not out and Tom Lawes has nine.

  4. Middlesex chase 323 at Merchant Taylors'published at 11:21 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Middlesex 277 & 0-0 v Northants 219 & 380 - target 323

    Strap yourselves in.

Stevie Eskinazi and Mark Stoneman are in the middle.

Ben Sanderson will bowl to Eskinazi.

  5. wicket

WICKET Organ c Lammonby b Ogborne 3published at 11:19 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Somerset 500 v Hampshire 330 & 42-3

Organ made 100 runs in the match but he has to go now. He's tried a drive and edged debutant Alfie Ogborne to Tom Lammonby who takes a neat catch at a wide gully.

Nick Gubbins, usually an opener, is in next. James Vince is saving himself for later.

  6. Sussex pass 200 at Hovepublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Sussex 402 & 214-5 v Derbys 407 - lead by 209

Lakmal bowls to Hudson-Prentice, who guides the ball through gully for four runs.

    That's the Sussex 200 in 58.2 overs.

Three more runs off the fourth ball and Coles drives the fifth through wide mid on for four to take the lead past 200.

A near identical shot brings four more and Sussex are on the charge.

  7. Postpublished at 11:17 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Lancs 145 & 9-0 v Essex 282 & 292-8 dec

Lancashire very much in crease occupation mode at the moment.

Perhaps no surprise as Jamie Porter and Sam Cook have 683 first-class wickets between them and a new ball in their hands.

  8. Postpublished at 11:14 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Somerset 500 v Hampshire 330 & 42-2

Felix Organ opened the batting earlier this season, he has been batting at eight, but has come in at four in this innings. Nightwatcher? Just promoted as he played so well for his 97 yesterday evening?

Either way he has a watchful three from 15 with Fletcha Middleton on 19 from 56 at the other end.

The visitors are 128 short of making Somerset bat again. They need to bat time and perhaps hope for some help from the weather.

  9. wicket

WICKET Gay run out (Bamber) 89published at 11:12 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Middlesex 277 v Northants 219 & 380 - lead by 322

What does Emilio Gay do here?

He takes the single off Ethan Bamber, who offers width outside off, tapping the ball away to gully for a single.

And that's it. White plays and misses Bamber.

Simpson fumbles the ball but recovers quickly, Gay sprints down for a single and White barely moves.

Gay can't retreat back in time and Bamber throws the ball in to keeper Simpson.

Calamitous end to the innings, ending in 11 balls this morning.

    Middlesex need 323.

92 overs left in the day's play. Could be a very exciting chase.

  10. wicket

WICKET Finch (run out) b Fisher 15published at 11:12 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Worcs 242 & 32-1 v Yorkshire 407

Unfortunate. Adam Finch set off for a single from the non-striker's end, got turned back by Ben Gibbon, lost his footing as Mark Steketee shied at the bowler's end and even though he missed, Matthew Fisher was able to gather the ball and break the stumps.

Gareth Roderick joins Gibbon with the hosts still 133 behind.

  11. wicket

WICKET Budinger c Cooke b Neser 5published at 11:08 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Glamorgan 403-9 dec v Leics 29-1

He did it with the bat and now he's doing it with the ball.

Michael Neser bangs in a short one at Sol Budinger, who tries to get out of the way, but gloves through to the keeper.

    Not the start Leicestershire wanted.

  12. Postpublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Lancs 145 & 6-0 v Essex 282 & 292-8 dec

Sam Cook doesn't waste many deliveries, but his first one of the day is on Keaton Jennings' pads and he flicks it away easy as you like to fine leg for four. A couple of singles follow.

  13. wicket

WICKET Sanderson c Malan b Helm 0published at 11:06 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Middlesex 277 v Northants 219 & 377-9 - lead by 317

Two wickets in three balls for Helm. Technically two wickets in two balls. Read on.

One delivery after a no ball, Sanderson uppercuts a short ball to a diving Pieter Malan at deep cover point.

Jack White is the number 11 and Emilio Gay is running out of partners - on 88.

  14. Postpublished at 11:05 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Surrey 355 & 204-5 v Notts 399

Not much pace left in this wicket if that is anything to go by.

Will Jacks dabs Dane Paterson down to third man for the day's first boundary.

    Surrey's lead is now 160.

  15. wicket

WICKET McManus c Simpson b Helm 2published at 11:04 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Middlesex 277 v Northants 219 & 377-8 - lead by 319

Helm strikes with his fourth ball of the day.

It's a pretty innocuous delivery, well down the leg side and feathered behind to the keeper.

    Ben Sanderson is in next.

  16. Postpublished at 11:04 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Worcs 242 & 31-0 v Yorkshire 407

Adam Finch clips the opening delivery of the day from Matthew Fisher through the leg side for four runs.

Nine off the over and Finch has 15 and Ben Gibbon has 14. Last pair? First pair? Good Pears!

They are 134 shy of making Yorkshire bat again.

  17. Postpublished at 11:03 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Middlesex 277 v Northants 219 & 375-7 - lead by 317

Three singles come from the remainder of the Robson over.

Tom Helm will bowl down the hill from the Benham End.

  18. Postpublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Lancs 145 & 0-0 v Essex 282 & 292-8 dec

Will it be a run chase or will it be a survival battle?

First job for Lancashire at Stanley Park is to see off the new ball.

Luke Wells takes strike to Jamie Porter. Keaton Jennings is hsi partner at the other end.

  19. Play resumes at Hovepublished at 11:01 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Sussex 402 & 193-5 v Derbys 407 - lead by 188

Sussex would've had high hopes for maximum batting points in this game, but Derbyshire's George Scrimshaw (5-49) was key to the visitors reducing the hosts from 291-4 to 402 - and a subsequent century from keeper-batsman Brooke Guest helped Derbyshire to a slender innings lead of five to turn this game into a one-innings shootout.

But James Coles is unbeaten on 101 in the second innings and is key to Sussex posting a challenging target today. This is the 2nd first class ton of his career.

    He resumes with Fynn Hudson-Prentice.

Remember, George Scrimshaw will be unable to bowl for the rest of the innings because of excessive short-pitched bowling, three bouncers in his fifth over, bowling at Coles.

  20. Postpublished at 11:00 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Surrey 355 & 200-5 v Notts 399

So, Surrey 156 ahead. Five wickets left. But Notts are, presumably, still a bowler short because of Jake Ball's injury.

Dane Paterson will bowl the opening over of day four. Will Jacks is on strike.
