    Derbys 127-3 - target 380

Four more to Du Plooy, driving McAndrew through the off side four four - and that brings up a 50 partnership with Wayne Madsen in 58 balls.

  2. Postpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Middlesex 158-3 - target 323

Keogh is swept through square by Simpson for four, and then the batters work the singles.

There's a new ball available in 20 overs but you'd fancy Northants need at least one ot two wickets before that point at the current scoring rate.

Eight off the over - all with minimal risk.

James Sales is on the field for Emilio Gay, who sustained a knee injury in this game.

    Surrey 355 & 340 v Notts 399 & 69-1

A near thing as Haseeb Hameed and Will Young fail to adequately communicate their intentions to each other - but Hameed takes a single after the throw misses the stumps.

A loud appeal against Young from Jamie Overton next up, but it pitched outside leg.

The onus is on Northamptonshire to try and force the win.

But how do they do it?

    Ben Sanderson will bowl next.

A half shout for a strangled catch down the leg side but it's not out.

Simpson drives behind point off the last ball for a single to the Middlesex to 150 in the 59th.

    Lancs 145 & 279-5 v Essex 282 & 292-8 dec

Phil Salt sweeps Matt Critchley, but gets a top edge and the catch is taken by Sam Cook at long leg.

An unnecessary dismissal really, ending a stand of 85 with Rob Jones, who has now been joined by Colin de Grandhomme.

  7. Postpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Derbys 118-3 - target 380

Good start for Du Plooy, who is down the track to the second ball of the session, launching McAndrew down to long off for four.

Four more come off the over, all singles.

    James Coles will bowl next.

  8. Postpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Lancs 145 & 275-4 v Essex 282 & 292-8 dec

Paul Walter will start the final session at Stanley Park.

He produced a three-wicket spell which spreadeagled Lancashire in their first innings.

Phil Salt takes a single before Rob Jones hits a boundary to move to 47 not out.

Lancashire need 151 from 31 overs - 4.88 per over.

  9. Postpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Middlesex 149-3 - target 323

Robson and Simpson are quietly going about their business here, working the singles off Keogh.

Keogh straightens up his line a bit and Robson can't force the ball away on the leg side.

Just two from the over and Ben Sanderson will bowl from the Benham End.

  10. 100 runs

    Worcs 242 & 100-2 v Yorkshire 407

The milestone is irrelvant but the time it's taken to achieve it is key.

The hosts are 65 behind but have eight wickets in hand - the only two they have lost are their recognised Nos 10 and 11.

Will we see hands shaken in the next hour or so? If no wickets fall you might expect so. We haven't even had tea yet, of course.

  11. Postpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Surrey 355 & 340 v Notts 399 & 60-1

    Where there's a Will, there's a way.

Will Jacks sends down three dot balls to Will Young to complete the over that was interrupted by tea following Ben Slater's dismissal.

There are 35 overs left in the game - Notts need 237 to win.

BBC Radio London's Mark Church thinks a draw is the most likely result, followed by a Surrey win, followed by a Notts victory.

  12. Final session of play begins at Hovepublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Derbys 110-3 - target 380 (minimum of 36 overs)

Probably a draw here - but you never know.

Wayne Madsen and Leus du Plooy resume with the bat.

Nathan McAndrew will bowl to du Plooy.

  13. Final session underway at Merchant Taylors'published at 15:58 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Middlesex 147-3 - target 323 (minimum of 35 overs)

Close enough to five an over required from here.

Middlesex and Northants occupy the relegation spots in the First Division, so they have to go for it, don't they?

Northants face Somerset and Lancashire next, while Middlesex are home to Surrey and away to Warwickshire in the next two rounds.

    All very tough opposition.

Rob Keogh will bowl to Sam Robson.

  17. Tea at Cardiffpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Glamorgan 403-9 dec v Leicestershire 228-2

Leicestershire need 22 more runs for a batting bonus point, Glamorgan need a wicket for a bowling point.

Rishi Patel has played superbly to reach 125 not out from 196 balls while Colin Ackermann is on 14 at the other end after Lewis Hill holed-out for 78.

36 overs slated for the evening session, wonder how many of those we see. 400 looks doable for Leicestershire if they up the scoring rate after tea... will they walk off when they get there as their hosts did last night?

    Time will tell.

With 270 runs needed off a minimum of 36 overs after the break, you'd probably bank on a draw here.

Good batting from Wayne Madsen and Leus du Plooy, steadying the ship after a wobble on 76-3.

  19. Tea at Blackpoolpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Lancs 145 & 274-4 v Essex 282 & 292-8 dec

Lancashire settle for a couple of singles from the final over before tea at Stanley Park, bowled by Doug Bracewell.

Rob Jones is 43 not out, Phil Salt has 40 and they have added 80 since Josh Bohannon was out for 68.

They need to score 156 from 38 overs to reach their target of 430 - but Essex will have the option of a new ball in 16.

Should Lancashire pull this off, it would be the biggest successful fourth-innings run-chase in the club's history - beating 404-5 at Southampton in 1910

  20. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Somerset 500 v Hampshire 330 & 135-7

In theory there are 29 overs remaining in the final session but you can be sure Somerset are going to bombard Hampshire with spin so we could easily see plenty more overs before the cut-off time.

The hosts need three wickets though Nick Gubbins and Liam Dawson have used all their experience to stem the flow of wickets, adding 20 runs between them but more importantly eating up 19 overs.
