    WICKET Handscomb c Carlson b ul-Hassan 33published at 16:59 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Glamorgan 403-9 dec v Leicestershire 318-4

Peter Handscombe shared a stand of 65 at better than a run a ball but he has holed out to Kiran Carlson trying to pull Zain ul-Hassan for six over deep square.

A fine tumbling catch from Carlson and Wiaan Mulder is in to join Patel (176 not out) for the run-chase.

  3. Postpublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Derbys 198-4 - target 380

An expensive over for Carson, who concedes 12 off the 36th over of the innings.

Are Derby chasing this one down?

Du Plooy sweeps to fine leg for four - and Haider Ali gets four off the same bowler, lofting a drive down the ground.

The fifth delivery is a no ball.

  4. Postpublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Lancs 145 & 332-6 v Essex 282 & 292-8 dec

Just what Essex wanted - apart from a wicket - a maiden from Matt Critchley to Tom Hartley.

Only one over now till the new ball is available.

    Lancashire need 98 off 17.

  5. Postpublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Middlesex 192-3 - target 323

Jack White is coming back on from the Lake End, nine overs before the new ball is available.

The field is a bit staggered with a deep square leg, long leg and a deep cover, so Northants are lookng to stem the flow before the new cherry.

A strangled shout for LBW is turned down. Too high and maybe an inside edge.

  6. Postpublished at 16:56 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Surrey 355 & 340 v Notts 399 & 111-1

A maiden from Jordan Clark to Will Young.

We reach the final 20 overs and Notts need 186.

Time for them to summon their inner Outlaws?

  7. Postpublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Lancs 145 & 332-6 v Essex 282 & 292-8 dec

A single for Rob Jones, but this time Tom Hartley is able to find the fine leg boundary off Matt Critchley - 106 off 19 needed.

Simon Harmer will continue and Jones hits his first two balls for four - a full toss driven through mid-off and the next lofted to mid-wicket.

The target is now down to double figures.

  8. Postpublished at 16:50 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Derbys 186-4 - target 380

Du Plooy is keen to get on with it here and plays and misses a big slog sweep against Coles.

He's got hold of the fourth ball of the over though, driving firmly through cover for four.

Haider Ali is on the back foot, cutting Shipley through backward point for four more at the other end.

The 50 partnership between this pair comes in just 51 balls with Haider clipping Shipley to square leg for one.

Du Plooy has also passed 900 Championship runs for the season.

  9. Postpublished at 16:50 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Lancs 145 & 319-6 v Essex 282 & 292-8 dec

Rob Jones takes one at the start of Simon Harmer's latest over and Tom Hartley can make nothing of the rest of it.

Lancashire need 111 to win from 20 - if this was a T20 match, you'd back them to win, but they only have four wickets left.

  10. Postpublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Middlesex 190-3 - target 323

Simpson sweeps Keogh for a single and a fine sliding dive from Procter at deep extra cover keeps the ball inside the rope as Robson unleashes an airborne cover drive.

Middlesex are looking to accelerate here before the new ball.

  11. 300 runs

up for Leicestershirepublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Glamorgan 403-9 dec v Leicestershire 300-3

Rishi Patel picks a slower ball from James Harris and pulled him for a six over deep square and into the empty stand to edge closer to the second bonus point.

But the 300 is actually brought up by a horrendous wide delivery from occasional spinner Kiran Carlson who sends one almost off the side of the track to Chris Cooke's left.

  12. Robson and Simpson hold firm for Middlesexpublished at 16:45 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Middlesex 186-3 - target 323

Tom Taylor is in the attack and that's a lovely cut through backward point by Robson for four to bring up the 100 partnership with John Simpson.

225 balls in the partnership to date, which is keeping Middlesex in with a chance to go for the win in the closing overs of this game.

Still just under a run a ball needed from here.

A minimum of 23 left tonight.

  13. Postpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Surrey 355 & 340 v Notts 399 & 100-1

Sean Abbott tries for a yorker, but it's not quite full enough and Haseeb Hameed directs it away past mid-on for four.

Notts still don't look like they are in full-on chase mode but they need 197 from 24.

  14. 50 runs

50 for Leus du Plooypublished at 16:42 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Derbys 168-4 - target 380

That's his 6th half century for Derbyshire in a season where he's averaged over 100.

He gets there with a clip to square leg for one off Coles.

    56 balls and eight fours.

    Worcs 242 & 122-2 v Yorkshire 407

The Worcestershire deficit is down to 43.

  16. 6 runs

Postpublished at 16:41 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Lancs 145 & 315-6 v Essex 282 & 292-8 dec

Four byes boosts the Lancashire total and Rob Jones hits Matt Critchley's next delivery for six over mid-wicket.

A few beads of sweat starting to appear on Essex-supporting brows?

The Red Rose now need 115 from 23.

  17. Somerset will need to bat againpublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Somerset 500 v Hampshire 330 & 171-7

Nick Gubbins finds the rope for just the second time with the first ball with the new cherry, bowled by 19-year-old spinner Shoaib Bashir.

He cuts away through the covers and Hampshire inch closer to a draw as they'd lose a couple of overs if they get bowled out now, and Hampshire would need to chase a target, however meagre.

  18. Postpublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Middlesex 181-3 - target 323

Sanderson gets another ball to keep low to Robson, who crouches in defence.

    Still no breakthrough, though.

Simpson drives Keogh to cover for one.

Robson is down the pitch to the spinner but defends.

  19. Postpublished at 16:38 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Surrey 355 & 340 v Notts 399 & 96-1

A short leg and leg-slip in place for spinner Will Jacks, but he floats one up outside off stump and Will Young puts it away for four with the minimum of fuss. Notts need 201 off 25 overs.

  20. new ball

New ball taken by Somersetpublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 13 July 2023

    Somerset 500 v Hampshire 330 & 167-7

No shock. They will have at least 18 overs with it.... given the time that might be more like mid-20s though.

Three wickets needed, and potentially a few runs too of course, Hampshire are three behind.
