This is only the second Test where all of the opening partnerships in the first three innings have put together 50 or more. The last was between England and Pakistan at Lord's in 1971.

Ben Ellis: I preferred getting outplayed for 18 years. This is horrible, we're just giving it to them!

Adam Davies: Well. We haven't bowled a no-ball yet. That's good, right?

Nick Henderson: Anderson, Robinson, Broad bowling at 80mph. That's like a snail coming down the wicket to these Aussie batsmen. Simply not fast enough.

This is your classic building your innings in a Test. You can see they are just trying to put away the bad ball.

  4. Aus 50-0published at 21 overs

Stuart Broad is also off the field getting some treatment on his jaw which was struck by a nasty bouncer this morning.

Josh Tongue tries Australia's trick by banging one in short and luring David Warner into the miscued pull that flies off a top-edge and lands in a gap.

    More frustration.

We are only halfway through this Test match.

Feels like a lot has happened, not least this morning.

Ben Stokes purses his lips as Ollie Robinson bowls two absolute beauties that both somehow fly past Usman Khawaja's outside edge.

More frustration for England as the drinks are brought out.

Australia are hanging on in there.

  7. Aus 47-0published at 19 overs

44-2 would be nice, but as it is Australia now lead by 138 with all 10 wickets in hand.

England say they will chase anything of course but if Australia are still batting tomorrow morning I think they may already have enough.

Based on CricViz's expected wickets and runs model, the score should be 44-2 right now.

After Jim Maxwell suggested Josh Tongue's name is ripe for a limerick, we got AI on the case...

There once was a bowler named Tongue

Whose skills on the pitch were not wrong

With his pace and his swing

    He made batters take wing

And his Yorkers were deadly and strong

Tuffers nearly fell out of his TMS chair as he winced when Ollie Pope went down there.

    It’s not looking good.

Very good again from Ollie Robinson as he bowls across Usman Khawaja but cannot snare the edge.

Oh no, the next ball Ollie Pope hurts his shoulder again as he drives to cut out a Khawaja clip into the leg-side.

Pope immediately walks off the field for assessment.

    More woe for England.

  12. Aus 38-0published at 17 overs

England averaging one play-and-miss an over at the moment as Josh Tongue gets some extra nip and bounce that beats Usman Khawaja all ends up.

Polite applause from the Lord's crowd.

This was exquisite timing from Usman Khawaja.

  14. Aus 37-0published at 16 overs

That's better from Ollie Robinson, squaring up Usman Khawaja and beating the outside edge.

Robinson might just be warming to his task.

    Phil Tufnell
Former England spinner on BBC Test Match Special

Test cricket is over five days, so it's always changing, the ball, the pitch, the conditions, players coming in. I think over these two Test matches, Australia have done really well to change at those positions.

  16. Aus 37-0published at 15 overs

Just the two runs off Josh Tongue's latest over, who is pushing 87/88mph at times but is not really threatening so far.

It feels like everyone at Lord's needs a lift as it has gone very quiet - but will that spark come from the crowd or the players?

Nick The Unit: Ollie Robinson surely can't be fully fit? 78 to 80mph isn't his speed when fit. After his last lay-off he looked slimmer and stronger and was mid 80s. Anyone know why he bowling such medium pace? Doesn't look half as threatening.

A tough chance for James Anderson, but England really need all of these stick.

Australia are playing nicely here, they've had to fight. Stuart Broad was unlucky not to find the outside of edge of David Warner, but Warner is still there.

  20. Aus 35-0published at 14 overs

Ollie Robinson bowls over the wicket to Usman Khawaja, who clips a full delivery beautifully away for four.

These two openers have dealt with this tricky opening spell really well.

Adapting to the match conditions, eh? Could catch on...
