  1. Aus 223-5published at 75 overs

    Carey 10, Green 15

It's more short stuff from Ben Stokes and the only run from the over is a no-ball, just the second England have bowled in this innings which is an improvement.

There is still some extra bounce occasionally and Stokes hits Alex Carey on the forearm with the penultimate ball of the over.

England may only need four more wickets depending on whether Nathan Lyon, who has been on crutches the last two days, comes out to bat.

Right then, back to the cricket. The players are back out and it looks like Ben Stokes is going to bowl the first over of the session.

England need these last five Australian wickets quickly. The last one came thanks to a brilliant catch from Joe Root...

  3. 'There is no place for racism in society'published at 14:01 British Summer Time 1 July 2023

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on his experiences of racism: "I did not experience racism in cricket but I did growing up and I know it exists. It stings in a way other things do.

"I take criticsim in my job on an hourly basis but racism does hurt. There are instances in your childhood that stay with you

"But those instances I suffered as a child don't think would happen to my kids today because I think we have made incredible progress as a country. But of course there are pockets where we are not doing as well and we have to strive to be better.

"I'm sitting here as the first British Asian Prime Minister, look at our T20 World Cup-winning team. That is modern Britain. That is our country and we should take a moment to celebrate the progress we have made. But recognise there is no place for racism or sexism or anything else in our society and where we find it we should stamp it out and strive for perfection."

  4. 'I got into politics because of mum & dad'published at 13:59 British Summer Time 1 July 2023

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on why he got into politics: "I got into it because of my mum and dad. My mum was a pharmacist and my dad was a GP. I saw first hand the impact they had on our community. People would come up and thank them. I thought that was incredible.

"That's why I wanted to be an MP, because I thought I could do the same thing and hopefully I am doing that in north Yorkshire. In this job it's different because it's on a bigger scale but it's the same thing that motivates me.

"When I took this job I knew it wasn't going to be easy - everyone could see it was the worst possible in-tray. The circumstances were challenging. But I thought I was the right person to do it and belive strongly in service."

  5. 'ICEC report has to be a reset moment for cricket'published at 13:53 British Summer Time 1 July 2023

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on the ICEC report: "My first reaction was that it is really sad to see a sport I love being described like that. I've spoken to some people at the ECB and I think they have approached it in the right way. They commissioned this report off their own back because they wanted to be proactive so they deserve credit for that.

"They are going about it the right way. They have offered an unreserved apology and are fully committed to implementing change and for this to be a reset moment for cricket.

"We all want it to be open for everybody from all backgrounds and where everyone can feel respect and supported when playing it.

"So that's what we want and I'm confident the whole cricketing family share that ambition."

  6. 'Glad Yorkshire are taking the steps needed'published at 13:53 British Summer Time 1 July 2023

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on the Yorkshire racism scandal: "I'm glad they are taking all the steps they are meant to.

"Whether it's Yorkshire or the rest of the country, we want cricket to be inclusive, open to all and to respect people in it because it's an incredible sport and it's something we all want to celebrate and view as a positive thing. It is transforming people's lives and giving them so much enjoyment and we all want it to succeed. I'm glad Yorkshire are doing all the things they should be doing."

  7. 'Sam Curran sledged me in my garden'published at 13:47 British Summer Time 1 July 2023

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on his cricket skills: "I batted more than anything else. I was lucky that I got to play cricket in my back garden with the England T20 World Cup-winning team.

"I had Chris Jordan bowling at me. Jos Buttler was very nice. Sam Curran on the other hand was giving me quite a lot of jib fielding at point. I was not expecting such heavy sledging in my back garden. But they were great and I loved doing that."

  8. 'I absolutely love the BBC Sport live text'published at 13:43 British Summer Time 1 July 2023

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on how he keeps updated with the cricket when working: "I read the BBC Sport website live text during the day on my computer or phone, which I absolutely love.

"Whoever does that is so funny, you feel part of a community, it's brilliant. I do sneak away from my office a couple of times to then watch the highlights in the evening."

  9. 'Great compliment how Australia responded to Bazball'published at 13:40 British Summer Time 1 July 2023

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak: "It is possible to play Bazball but there are periods in games where you need to recognise the situation. It is a great compliment that Australia responded the way they did.

"I agree with others about probably waiting that situation out, but that doesn't mean you are throwing Bazball out of the window.

"But I'm not going to sit here and second-guess these guys. They have provided us with the most extraordinary year of cricket and I'm sure they back themselves to skittle out these Australian wickets and chase down the total."

  10. 'Stokes is an inspirational leader'published at 13:39 British Summer Time 1 July 2023

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak: "In Ben Stokes we have an inspirational leader who can motivate those around him and lead by example on the field. I don't KNOW what is happening behind the scenes to build that trust, which is what it comes down to, but they believe in each other and are sticking with it."

  11. 'Bazball may be an interesting case study'published at 13:34 British Summer Time 1 July 2023

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on 'Bazball': "Last year was the most extraordinary year of cricket. How could you not fall in love with that cricket? The stats speak for themselves.

"You've got to give it to the team for what they have done, especially as it is essentially the same group of players with a different approach to leadership. It may make for an interesting case study."

  12. 'England will feel they can chase anything'published at 13:31 British Summer Time 1 July 2023

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak: "It was a slow start and then thankfully we got a couple of wickets at the end. I actually missed the last wicket coming over here. It was a great catch by Joe Root. I saw it on my phone.

"But this England team will feel they can chase anything. We just have to get the rest of those Australia wickets."

I hope you saw the wicket on the BBC Sport website or app, Prime Minister...

  13. 'I've loved cricket since childhood'published at 13:28 British Summer Time 1 July 2023

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak: "I don't get many days off in this job so coming here to watch cricket so this is the perfect way to spend it watching a sport I've loved since childhood.

"I used to go to the County Ground in Southampton where I grew up, which was across the road from my father's surgery.

"One of my prized possessions is a signed bat from the Australian team, the likes of Merv Hughes and Matthew Hayden."

    Lead by 313

What is this? Stuart Broad bowls at least three full deliveries to Cameron Green and the Australia all-rounder thumps the third of them for four.

Short and wide to end the session and Green helps himself to four more.

Australia go to lunch on double Nelson, leading by 313.

A session of two halves, Australia bossed the first but England came fighting back with a bouncer barrage in the second.

No spin yet, Stuart Broad will bowl what is likely to be the last over of the session.

  18. Aus 214-5published at 73 overs

    Carey 10, Green 7

It looks like Joe Root is warming up so we could have the traditional one over of spin before lunch.

For now, it's Jimmy Anderson continuing to bend his back and bang the ball in short. Alex Carey is still happy just to duck, even when the ball doesn't seem to be getting up all that high.
