  1. Aus 154-2published at 52 overs

Ollie Robinson starts his latest with a couple of bouncers, both of which are ignored by Usman Khawaja.

The left-hander digs out the yorker that follows before leaving another short ball.

With three men back on the hook, he's not going to be drawn in that game... What good can come of it?

Morning all I was reading my copy of The Cricketer magazine this morning dated April 1989. In the 'pull out and keep' section on new cricket kit for the 1989 season, I found l this gem. A certain cricket correspondent advertising KangaROOS tracksuits. Does he remember? All the best.

The Lord’s hum is quiet. You can hear Ben Stokes’ shouts of encouragement in the field.

  4. Aus 153-2published at 51 overs

Three boundaries in the over - Steve Smith looks in ominous form.

He drills a half-volley back past Jimmy Anderson and then guides the next to the left of backward point for four more.

Australia move past 150, the lead is up to 244...

That's a glorious, glorious cover drive. Steve Smith has absolutely crunched that.

It's going to be interesting, are England going to play for a draw?

  6. Aus 145-2published at 50.2 overs

It's Steve Smith's turn to find the boundary with an eye-catching drive.

Drilled through the covers for four off Anderson.

What Australia have done is just played good cricket. Over five days, the Test match is constantly changing. They've read those situations and adapted so much better than England have.

Usman Khawaja has 730 balls so far, that is the third most any player has faced in the first two Tests of an Ashes in England.

  9. Aus 141-2published at 50 overs

Usman Khawaja is a man in form and the confidence that brings is shown as he takes a couple of steps down the pitch to Ollie Robinson.

It's still not there to hit so the opener calmly defends.

England need something here. A moment of inspiration, an error from the batters. Something.

England have just got to hang in there and wait for a bit of luck to get one of these two out, a good ball, or a great catch. These two look very resolute.

  11. Aus 140-2published at 49 overs

    Lead by 231

It's still early days but while there has been a hint of movement through the air, England have not managed to trouble either Usman Khawaja or Steve Smith this morning.

That is a gorgeous off drive, the ball swung right into the middle of the bat. That's when you know you're in good nick. Usman Khawaja has looked in great nick.

  13. Aus 140-2published at 48.3 overs

Super shot from Usman Khawaja. He unfurls a gorgeous drive to thump Jimmy Anderson through extra cover for four.

I think it's wrong to have forced Ollie Pope to field in the second innings. I'm going to say it was almost cruel, you push him out there, he goes for the ball to dive and save it and he fell and has been in pain ever since.

  15. Aus 136-2published at 48 overs

Ollie Robinson gets through his first full over of the day and he is finding a bit of swing to take the ball away from the left-handed Usman Khawaja.

Nothing to really concern the Australia left-hander, though, and when Robinson strays with the last ball of the over, Khawaja is able to clip a single to fine leg.

I'm giving England an hour to make some breakthroughs. If they don't, I'm giving up hope and going out for the day. C'mon England, don't let me down!

    Khawaja 58, Smith 10

Steve Smith must be so frustrating to bowl to with the way he gets across his stumps and takes the ball off middle and works it to leg.

For a split-second every time it looks like he's going to miss it and be plumb lbw. But then the bat appears to whip the ball away.

You keep thinking he's got to miss one eventually but he so rarely does!

It happens again in this Jimmy Anderson over... full, on the stumps, shaping away a touch but Smith's bat arrives just in the nick of time again.

Jimmy Anderson will get things started from the Nursery End.

  19. Aus 134-2published at 46 overs

    Lead by 225

A boundary first ball of the day - but not a convincing one from Steve Smith.

England have a leg slip and a leg gully in place and the former Australia skipper gets a thick inside edge between the two of them down to fine leg.

A solid back-foot defensive shot from Smith ends the over.

From the sprinkling of rain about 25 minutes ago, the sun is shining as Ben Stokes leads England out onto the field.

There are large groups of Australia fans in the stands, one lot all in yellow t-shirts, the other in green. I'd imagine they're starting the day much happier than the England fans.

Ollie Robinson will complete the over he started before the rain arrived last night...
