That is Duckett's ninth score of 50 or more, two of which he has converted into centuries.

Since Pakistan where Duckett was recalled, he has played eight tests, had eight scores of 50 or more. He has achieved the rare feat for an England opener of scoring 50s in both innings at Lord's in an Ashes.

He's the first opener since Sir Alastair Cook in 2010 in Brisbane to score half centuries in both innings. The last England opener to do that at home was Andrew Strauss in 2009. The last at Lord's was Michael Atherton in 1993.

No holding back from England. If they think it's there to be hit, they're going to give it a thump!

England are still prepared to take it on late on day four. Anything they can, England are trying to punish.

Good over for England and it ends with a very good one-handed take from Alex Carey as Mitchell Starc's bouncer sails high and down the leg side.

He'll have been keen to take that because he doesn't want the byes going against him, harsh as that would have been.

A guy in a green jumper and red hat by the old scoreboard standing and waving his arms up in front of his face after Ben Stokes crunched that boundary.

He believes and wants the rest of Lord's to join him.

Stokes flexed his leg and it almost locked, but he belted that through mid-wicket. Crunch.

Banged in short by Mitchell Starc and Ben Stokes hammers the pull shot in front of square for four!

He's hobbling a bit but the England captain is still fighting.

Duckett has played lovely here to bring up his 50.

    Eng 107-4

Ben Duckett pull Mitchell Starc to fine leg to reach his second half-century of the match.

He gets there from 62 balls and after falling two shy of his century in the first innings, England need a big one from him now.

You could almost see four or five sparks out of Stokes' brain of what to do there.

  11. Eng 106-4published at 27 overs

Maiden over from Cameron Green and for the first time in this innings Ben Stokes looks uncomfortable against the short ball.

He has a flirt with one outside off before getting back into his bubble and ducking the last.

Regardless of how good this Australian team are we could have and should have won both of these games. Being beaten by a better team is fair enough, but being beaten by yourself is why there is so much frustration.

Another wicket or two tonight would spell the end for England and make tomorrow end pretty early.

England are going to need plenty of luck and they've just had a bit of it.

Cameron Green rushes Ben Stokes with a brutish short ball, it pops up off the glove and despite hanging in the air for an age, it lands safely a couple of yards away from the batter on the off side!

That could so easily have gone to hand.

Duckett needs to have the game of his life if England are going to get anywhere near chasing this down.

Beautifully played from Ben Duckett. He got the width.

His timing has been spot on, off side and leg side. He just lets it come to him.

  17. Eng 106-4published at 26 overs

    Stokes 22, Duckett 49

We've gone past the scheduled close and are into the last half hour now with the over-rate as low as we've seen in the series.

Ben Duckett is still going strong, though, and adds four to his tally with a superb late cut that races to the boundary cushion.

Two clipped through mid-wicket ends the over and takes him to 49.

There's some support here. If England can harness it tomorrow. Duckett gets a ton, Stokes gets a ton, we won't be far away, you never know.

    Eng 100-4published at 25.1 overs

Big cheers from the crowd as Ben Stokes' single take England to three figures.

The cheer for 50 was ironic, that one was a bit more defiant. Has this partnership made them believe?!
