Duckett is looking in sparkling form, carrying on from his first innings. It's just when you put your toe down where it becomes difficult to score. There's no real demons in this pitch.

Four more! A lovely cut shot from Ben Duckett.

That's his shot and he finds the gap expertly to beat the fielder sweeping on the off side boundary.

These two and Bairstow need to do the bulk of the work to give England any chance.

That was a spanking cover drive. Duckett has played that beautifully.

    Eng 95-4published at 24.3 overs

Cameron Green is into the attack for the first time in the innings and Ben Duckett slaps him through extra cover for four!

Lovely shot! That brings up the fifty partnership.

It's Ashes all the way today and the first T20 in the women's series is just starting now.

After Australia won the Test, it's a must-win game for England.

Having been hit over the top a couple of times in previous overs, Travis Head is really darting the ball in now.

Ben Stokes misses out as he hits a drag down straight to extra cover but he does get a pair of twos to end the over, one either side of the wicket.

  8. Postpublished at 18:31 British Summer Time 1 July 2023

Travis Head is going to continue. Ben Duckett went after him early in his last over.

The ball is not really getting up as much as Mitchell Starc would like. Ben Duckett does seem to play the pull shot well.

  10. Eng 86-4published at 23 overs

    Target 371

Mitchell Starc has turned to the short-ball plan now but overdoes it and is called for two wides in the over.

When the ball isn't sailing miles over his head, Ben Duckett is going to take it on and finds the gap with a well-timed pull behind square. Four runs.

Just when England looked to be recovering from the loss of two early wickets, Pat Cummins produced an incredible over to dismiss Joe Root and Harry Brook.

They were two fantastic deliveries as well.

  12. Eng 78-4published at 22 overs

With so many to defend, Australia won't mind England trying to get after Travis Head.

If he starts leaking too many, they can go back to the seamers from both ends and the bouncer ploy.

Duckett thinks that if you are going to tempt me, I am going to have a go.

  14. Eng 75-4published at 21.2 overs

Ben Duckett is down the ground to Travis Head now and smears the ball over mid-on for four.

This has admittedly been great bowling from Aus but I still think that if England do not throw all those wickets away in the first innings and build a lead then this game plays out very differently. Same with our second innings at Edgbaston. I don't accept we are being "outclassed" in this series.

Just one from Mitchell Starc's over and England need exactly 300 more to win.

Stranger things have happened. Not many, though.

Are Australia being given enough credit for their tactics in this game? Batted beautifully in first innings, set a successful short ball trap for England in the second. England then failed trying to copy their plan, building Australia’s lead, and are now skittling them again with tight lines and lengths. Understandable to criticise England at points, but are Australia (World Test Champions we should remember) just better?

Pat Cummins' excellent spell is done. As expected, Mitchell Starc will replace him.

His first spell wasn't bad either...

  19. Eng 70-4published at 20 overs

    Target 371

Ben Duckett goes on the slog-sweep and gets a top edge.

The ball hangs in the air for a long time, there are two fielders on the leg side boundary but it lands safely.

Two for Duckett and a few heartbeats raised at Lord's.

  20. How's stat?!published at 18:16 British Summer Time 1 July 2023

Ben Stokes has become the first player in Ashes history to hit 25 sixes. He was previously joint-top of the all-time standings on 24 with Kevin Pietersen.
