  1. Eng 4-0published at 0.1 overs

Zak Crawley is off the mark with a four!

It wasn't comfortable - an awkward poke down the leg side - but he's away.

Both me and Glenn McGrath agree that there was enough of the boot behind the line on point of impact and that's what we have to look at.

  3. Eng 0-0published at 11:45 British Summer Time 20 July 2023

Mitchell Starc will start things off with the ball.

    Here we go then.

We could get a big idea in which way this match, and therefore the Ashes, are going today.

You get a sense that England mean business, their body language is really positive with the way Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley walked out.

For all of the talk about the weather, Old Trafford is currently bathed in bright blue sunshine.

    Conditions are perfect for batting.

England do need to press this game on but how quickly will they try to go?

Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley emerge to cheers.

Even with the no-ball, England's bowlers have done the hard work yesterday and this morning. If you offered any of us 317, we'd have taken it. Now they have a chance to bat well. One strong innings levels the series. The hope is that they get the tone and tempo right, not worrying too much about the weather.

One thing is for sure that with England batting the game will be moving forward. I hope England don't come out and think that they have to bat six runs an over. If they try to go to expensive then they'll lose quick wickets but I really do think Joe Root is the key. If they try to Bazball it then there will be chances for Australia.

Well England took the final two wickets for 18 runs in 35 minutes this morning.

It could have been one run in seven minutes but still a decent effort.

Chris Woakes has made a splendid contribution during this Test, it took longer than England wanted but Australia are out.

Hazlewood c Duckett b Woakes 4 (Aus 317 all out)

Gone this time! Chris Woakes finds Josh Hazlewood's edge for the second time this morning and on this occasion manages to keep his foot behind the line.

That's five wickets for Woakes - the first time he's done that against Australia in Tests.

    Starc 36, Hazlewood 4

The Aussies all have their whites on in the dressing room, suggesting they don't have too much faith in this final wicket pair hanging around. Mitchell Starc, however, looks pretty solid against Mark Wood's pace. He continues to take all of the bowling to protect Hazlewood.

    It's 24 minutes since that no-ball now.

It was almost the perfect start for England and now Starc is just hanging around here.

  14. Aus 317-9published at 89 overs

Josh Hazlewood looks worryingly solid as he bashes Chris Woakes for three through the covers. That's another over survived by Australia but Mark Wood looks like he's coming on.

    This could change things up.

I'm at dentist having my wisdom teeth out, and fortunately my dentist is avid fan too, so we turned the radio up to drown out the sound of the tools! Hopefully he doesn't slip when Hazelwood is out!

The conspiracy theorists are out in force but I think it probably was just a no-ball from Woakes.

Make your own mind up. Australia have added 13 runs since.

Josh Hazlewood fiddles outside off stump to end Woakes' over but there's no edge. More frustration for England.

So there's now three permutations of seeing the beautiful/dreaded yellow WICKET!! box pop up in the feed: 1. We've taken a wicket (beautiful) 2. We've lost a wicket (dreadful) 3. We've taken a wicket then it's reversed, no ball, etc. (even more dreadful!)
