Was it going down? He thinks so...

On the dental theme that Indian wicketkeeping legend: Farokh Eng-Veneer. I can only apologise, man of a certain age.

It's a double change for Australia as they wheel through their army of tall right-arm fast mediums. Cameron Green is on.

Zak Crawley nailed a ball through the on-side for four and then he's found it hard to go back. Once he's played that aggressive shot, he keeps pushing really hard, you have to wait for the ball to get older. I want him to calm down ever so slightly.
Zak Crawley waves a glove, signalling how Pat Cummins managed to get this last ball to move off the pitch.
Let's go back to happier times when Moeen put Hazlewood gloriously through the covers...
Here is Australia captain Patty C, for my mind the best bowler in the world. Zak Crawley edges his first ball dangerously close to the stumps.

Crawley and Moeen add another single apiece.
Pat Cummins is warming up. Eeeek.

BBC cricket correspondent on Test Match Special
That's where Moeen is such a lovely player, he really leaned into it. It's so Gower-like, beautiful timing. There's no better player of that shot in the game at the moment.
Crawley 17, Moeen 17
Moeeeeen! That's England's bearded number three at his very best - the left-hander driving Hazlewood beautifully through the covers for four.
Moeen has batted for 31 balls now so you'd have to say he's just about in. How big can he go?

More cheers to break through the tension as Moeen Ali flicks Josh Hazlewood off his pads and down to the boundary. Good from Moeen. When the bad ball is there to hit...

You have to come prepared for a day at the cricket.
I was scrambling for the factor 50 when I was sat in the upper tier earlier but having moved into the shade, I can see why the woman next to me is in her winter coat.
She tells me it was even colder yesterday when the wind got up.
Basically, you’ve got to be ready for anything!
Zak Crawley is such an enigma. He manages to make run-making so easy, a flick here and a dab there, but then he plays a wild drive and is fortunate not to nick off.
Stephan Shemilt
BBC Sport chief cricket writer at Old Trafford
I'm not sure if I can watch this. I'm a nervous wreck.

Zak Crawley responds to edging Josh Hazlewood short of slip by skipping down a flicking a sensational shot to the mid-wicket boundary. That brings some England fans in the party stand out of their seats. Anything to relieve the tension.

Former England spinner on BBC Test Match Special
England just have to be a bit careful here. They need to be mindful and not lose another one before lunch. They don't want to go hell for leather.
Crawley 12, Moeen 7
Wasim Plaqueram might be my new favourite. Outstanding.
The England fan with the trumpet winds up the crowd with the first rendition of the Great Escape today. I didn't think things were that bad to be honest. Not yet anyway.
