This is very, very tight.
Australia's tail wags to take tourists to slender 12-run lead
Murphy and Cummins put on 49 for ninth wicket
Smith narrowly survives incredibly close run-out on 43, but holes out for 71
Root, Anderson & Broad all in the wickets as Australia fall from 115-2 to 185-7
Broad removes Khawaja and Head in magical post-lunch spell
In morning session, Labuschagne spectacularly caught by diving Root at first slip
Callum Matthews, Sam Drury and Timothy Abraham
This is very, very tight.

That could be a brilliant piece of fielding by the substitute.
Has Steve Smith been run out?
He grimaces. He looks nervous.

Is Smith capable of doing a Stokes?

A decent over from Harry Brook but he strays onto the hip of Pat Cummins for the final ball and the Australia captain is able to flick fine for four.
Brook had beaten the bat earlier in the over, causing Jonny Bairstow to have a little smile and laugh.

There's a little bit of swing there from Harry Brook...
Harry Brook is going to continue from the other end.

Lovely start by Chris Woakes as he beats Pat Cummins' outside edge.
The Aussie captain and Steve Smith add a single apiece.
The new ball - which could be very important - is four overs away.

I think the pitch is a good one, I think it's fair. And if you bowl well you get a bit out of it. There are runs out there. England have got their noses in front, overall.
Right, we're ready for the evening session.
Chris Woakes is going to start with the ball.

The words "Jimmy, Jimmy" are trending on Twitter, or whatever that site is called these days.
Joe Root then got Alex Carey before Mark Wood removed Mitch Starc.
It left England with five wickets in the afternoon session.
Australia are 186-7 at the interval, 97 runs behind England.
Then a moment for us all to revel in as James Anderson removed Mitch Marsh.
The afternoon session started perfectly for England with Stuart Broad removing Usman Khawaja and Travis Head in the first three overs after lunch.
How much did these mind games from Stuart Broad get in the head of Marnus Labuschagne?
England only took one wicket in the morning session but it came via this brilliant Joe Root catch.
Breathtaking.
Thanks Sam.
Good stint from you that.
England have battled themselves back into control of the Test.
Will they wrap up the innings and get a lead?
No surprise that people would be wanting to get a glimpse of the action given how well England bowled in that session.
Seven down, three to go for Ben Stokes' side in this innings. It's over to Callum Matthews for the evening session and to see how quickly they can take them...

I hope this doesn’t get them in trouble but below the Gasworks there’s a group of people who have found a gate that you can peer through and see the cricket. You can only see one end of the pitch, mind.

Australia played for a draw for three days at Old Trafford, were completely outplayed and got saved by the rain on Saturday and Sunday. They have been playing for a draw since ball one yesterday. They got lucky in Manchester, but I hope they get don’t succeed in this game and England get a convincing win here. Throughout this series England have been the only team pushing the game forward for a win, otherwise the first two games would probably have ended in draws. By no means do Australia deserve to win this series outright based on the balance of play over the five games.
