People say there are not fairytales in sport but if Broad can get the last wicket here, then that has to go down as the greatest ever retirement.

  2. dropped catch

Carey dropped on 28published at 93 overs

    Aus 330-9

So close! Alex Carey feels for a ball outside off stump and is not far away from feathering it behind.

And again! Is that a drop? It is. It's a very tough chance for Zak Crawley at second slip but it goes down.

He had to go one-handed down to his left and the ball just pops out. Nearly the dream finale for Stuart Broad.

Imagine how many wickets Broad would have if he'd discovered this bail trick earlier than his final Test. Over a thousand surely?

I don't know how Australia will play this, there's such a long time for a draw.

The crowd are urging Broad on, they would love it for him to take the final wicket.

Just imagine if Broad found that trick earlier in his career, he'd have 1000 Test wickets now.

    Stuart Broad is a magician!

The very next ball after switching the bails, he finds the outside edge and Jonny Bairstow does the rest. You could not write it!

Todd Murphy had batted very well but the magic of Broad switching the bails was too much for him to resist.

He was squared up by a beauty and England are one wicket away.
