  1. wicket

WICKET Conners c sub b Revis 1published at 14:15 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Yorks 297 & 520-9 dec v Derbys 247 & 293-9

    Yorkshire almost there.

Sam Conners lifts the ball high and wide, but not so handsome and it is well taken by sub fielder Ben Cliff stationed at long leg.

Revis now has 3-66 and Derbyshire are going to remain winless with three games to go.

  2. wicket

WICKET Critchley st Simpson b Higgins 65published at 14:13 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Essex 304 & 311-7 v Middlesex 179

John Simpson is standing up to Ryan Higgins, and does superbly well to take the ball cleanly and whip off the bails when Matt Critchley's back foot lifts up momentarily.

Umesh Yadav is the new man - he tries to hit his first ball to London, but only succeeds in edging down to the boundary.

    It's four in the book...

  3. Postpublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Somerset 266-6 v Hampshire - target 502

366-8 is the highest fourth-innings total reached to salvage a draw at the Ageas, By Hampshire against Yorkshire 16 years ago.

We're into the final 50 overs and Somerset have four wickets remaining.

Even if they can't find the 236 needed to win, salvaging anything from the game would be remarkable.

  4. wicket

WICKET Chappell c Bess b Revis 33published at 14:06 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Yorks 297 & 520-9 dec v Derbys 247 & 289-8

Wow. As BBC West Yorkshire Sport's Jonathan Doidge talks of a Scarborough sea fret, we have Bazball batting from Zak Chappell, who gives himself room and belts Matthew Revis into the crowd at deep mid-wicket.

It's his final scoring shot, though, as an attempt at a repeat ends up in the hands of Dom Bess. Good catch.

    Two more needed by Yorkshire.

  5. dropped catch

Let-off for Chappellpublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Yorks 297 & 520-9 dec v Derbys 247 & 279-7

Ben Coad bangs it in short and Zak Chappell wallops it away over square leg for a maximum. Not sure his eyes were on the ball but it was a good contact.

Chappell miscues another big shot from the final ball of the over - only for Jordan Thompson to put the catch down, conceding two runs in the process.

    Frustrating for the bowler.

  6. wicket

    WICKET Kohler-Cadmore b Prest 84published at 13:59 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Somerset 254-6 v Hampshire - target 502

Tom Prest's first first-class wicket. What a scalp.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore gets down on one knee to try to slog sweep the 20-year-old into the leg side, but he misses the ball which bites in the round and turns to clatter off stump.

84 from 124 balls with 13 fours and a six... despite those numbers you can't help but feel he'll be hugely frustrated.

Less than five overs until the new ball, too.

Ben Green is the new man, joining Lewis Gregory.

  7. wicket

WICKET Rossington c Davies b Robson 12published at 13:58 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Essex 304 & 283-6 v Middlesex 179

It's all going on at Chelmsford.

Adam Rossington goes for a switch hit, which he catches very well, but it's straight to Jack Davies on the boundary, who takes the catch, pops it up in the air to allow himself to step over the boundary rope, before hopping back inside it and completing the catch.

Simon Harmer is the new man - he'll be looking forward to bowling later on.

  8. Postpublished at 13:57 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Yorks 297 & 520-9 dec v Derbys 247 & 269-7

A new Matthew Revis over and Zak Chappell drives his first ball confidently past mid-off for four to bring up a 50 partnership with Anuj Dal for Derbyshire's eighth wicket.

Chappell adds a single and is 17 not out, with Dall on 33.

  9. Postpublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Somerset 245-5 v Hampshire - target 502

Part-time offy Tom Prest is getting plenty of turn at the Ageas, as is Liam Dawson, in fairness.

Lewis Gregory comes very close to glancing him straight to Fletcha Middleton at short leg and Tom Kohler-Cadmore tries to sweep a full toss and misses the ball, picking up four leg byes instead.

56 overs remain. A draw is the least Somerset will be targeting.

  10. 6 runs

Postpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Yorks 297 & 520-9 dec v Derbys 247 & 260-7

It's been a strange season for Dom Bess.

His three wickets in this innings are his first in the Championship for Yorkshire since he took 3-192 at Chesterfield in June.

Bess now has 20 for the season - nine of which were taken in April.

He's also had loan spells and Warwickshire and Somerset and has now been hit for six over long-on by Zak Chappell.

  11. 50 runs

for Matt Critchleypublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Essex 304 & 263-5 v Middlesex 179

Matt Critchley smears Luke Hollman straight down the ground for four, before going one better the very next ball, which sails over long-on for six.

He moves to 51 from 53 balls, and the Essex lead is now 388.

  12. WICKET Walter c Davies b De Caires 2published at 13:40 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Essex 304 & 249-5 v Middlesex 179

Tall Paul Walter looks to swing Josh de Caires into the stands, but can only pick out Jack Davies on the midwicket fence.

    A ten-wicket haul - well bowled sir!

  13. 'We want to finish on a high' - Borthwickpublished at 13:38 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

Durham beat Sussex by seven wickets

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

This has been a fantastic season for Durham. They are 44 points clear with two games to go and might get promoted next week, when they don't have a game, if results go their way. If not five points will do it.

New coach Ryan Campbell has been like a breath of fresh air. He wanted them to play attacking cricket and they have. This was their sixth win and the seventh time they have gained maximum batting points.

The players will have a week off now and they deserve it.

Skipper Scott Borthwick said: "24 points form this game shows how well we are playing. What we want to do is win the next two games and if we do that it sets a statement we have dominated this league and we are ready for Division One.

"We have been amazing all year and if we win promotion at Worcester then great, but we want to finish on a high and finish the season knowing we have dominated the division."

  14. Postpublished at 13:37 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Somerset 229-5 v Hampshire - target 502

One scoring shot in each of the two overs since James Rew fell... both of them boundaries though.

They do only need 4.5 an over to do this, you know. The runs are not the problem, it's the wicket.

  15. wicket

WICKET Lawrence c Robson b De Caires 26published at 13:30 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Essex 304 & 239-4 v Middlesex 179

Mark Stoneman and Josh de CairesImage source, Rex Features

Nine in the match for Josh de Caires!

Dan Lawrence charges the bowling, but can't get under the ball, and chips a simple catch to Sam Robson at mid-off.

  16. Postpublished at 13:29 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Yorks 297 & 520-9 dec v Derbys 247 & 230-7

Matthew Revis serves one up wide of off stump and Anuj Dal chops it away through the covers for four runs.

The next one is even shorter and Dal cuts - four more.

  17. wicket

WICKET Rew c Brown b Dawson 36published at 13:24 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Somerset 220-5 v Hampshire - target 502

    Sorry, Somerset fans...

Massive wicket for the hosts. The change of ends has brought a wicket for Liam Dawson. James Rew gets down trying to steer the ball through the covers but can only edge into the gloves of Ben Brown.

Wild celebrations. You can tell they were getting nervous.

Lewis Gregory joins Tom Kohler-Cadmore. Is the dream still alive?

  18. Postpublished at 13:24 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Somerset 220-4 v Hampshire - target 502

There have been precisely zero successful fourth-innings run chases of more than 331.

    Somerset are chasing 502.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore has scored four fours in three overs since lunch...

  19. Postpublished at 13:22 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Yorks 297 & 520-9 dec v Derbys 247 & 212-7

A bit of turn and bounce there for Dom Bess and the ball balloons up to Finlay Bean off the pad, but Anuj Dal did not get a nick on it.

Dal takes a single to end the over and is seven not out.

  20. Postpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Essex 304 & 221-3 v Middlesex 179

Essex will bat on after lunch, and from the looks of things, they are going to bat positively, and look to set up a declaration.

Matt Critchley slaps Josh de Caires through the covers for four from the third ball of the over.
