  1. wicket

WICKET Bedingham b Carson 0published at 12:00 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Durham 52-3 v Sussex - target 57

Two in three balls for Jack Carson as David Bedingham goes for a big hit and is bowled by a perfect off-break.

Middle stump is horizontal - but it's all come too late for Sussex.

Carson has 3-5 from 3.2 overs - he had to finish a Jaydev Unadkat earlier after the Indian suffered an injury.

  2. wicket

WICKET Westley lbw b Bamber 47published at 11:59 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Essex 304 & 178-2 v Middlesex 179

Ethan Bamber gets one to shoot along the floor, and Tom Westley, who had shuffled across his stumps, is pinned lbw.

The Essex skipper has to go, but he probably won't mind seeing that uneven bounce given that his side will need to take 10 wickets on this pitch.

  3. wicket

WICKET Borthwick b Carson 15published at 11:58 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Durham 52-2 v Sussex - target 57

Too little, too late for Sussex but Jack Carson has his second wicket.

Scott Borthwick sweeps and under-edges behind his legs and into the stumps.

David Bedingham comes out for the coup de grace.

  4. Postpublished at 11:56 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Hampshire 308 & 303-3d v Somerset 137 & 159-4

After those two early wickets Somerset have steadied the ship through Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who has 38, and James Rew, who is on 10.

They have put on 46 for this fifth wicket and are 343 shy of victory, if they fancy a crack at that.

  5. Postpublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Durham 48-1 v Sussex - target 57

A checked drive over mid-on brings Alex Lees four runs and he repeats the shot from the next ball. Just nine more needed.

  6. Postpublished at 11:51 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Durham 39-1 v Sussex - target 57

Scott Borthwick has decided that he wants this done and dusted asap.

He sweeps James Coles for four and is then down the track to loft the spinner away for another.

  7. 6 runs

for Wayne Madsenpublished at 11:51 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Yorkshire 297 & 520-9d v Derbyshire 247 & 170-2

A towering six off Dom Bess, swept over deep square, is followed by another four.

Wayne Madsen has 70 from 54 balls and brings up the 100 partnership with Harry Came. He really is taking the attack to the hosts.

Derbyshire need fewer than 400 now.

  8. Postpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Durham 29-1 v Sussex - target 57

Scott Borthwick tucks Jack Carson away through square leg to open his account and the Durham batters are able to pick up three.

They need another 28 for a sixth win of the season and will then need a maximum of five points from two matches for promotion.

  9. 50 runs

for Wayne Madsenpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Yorkshire 297 & 520-9d v Derbyshire 247 & 155-2

Madsen brings up the milestone with his seventh four off Jordan Thompson to go with his sole six.

It took him just 47 balls to get there, and take his side past 150 at the same time.

The scoreboard at Scarborough is seemingly a little off so he gets his applause after smashing the next ball for four too. He has 55 with eight fours now. His 82nd career first-class half-century.

  10. wicket

WICKET Jones b Carson 12published at 11:43 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Durham 26-1 v Sussex - target 57

It's all about making Durham work for it now, as far as Sussex are concerned, and then hope they can win their final three games.

There's a little bit of turn for Jack Carson and Michael Jones chops into his stumps. Not a great shot.

  11. Postpublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Durham 26-0 v Sussex - target 57

Sussex call up left-arm spinner James Coles.

There are a couple of singles for Durham before Alex Lees punches a short one through the overs for four.

  12. Postpublished at 11:39 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Durham 20-0 v Sussex - target 57

Ari Karvelas overpitches and Michael Jones clips past mid-on for four runs. Looks like Durham will be doing some sunbathing this afternoon.

  13. Postpublished at 11:38 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Yorkshire 297 & 520-9d v Derbyshire 247 & 144-2

Back-to-back boundaries for Wayne Madsen off George Hill.

The first, a lovely crack through the covers and the second, a streakier edge past the slips, has taken him to 43 from 41 deliveries.

    The ask is now 427.

  14. Postpublished at 11:36 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Essex 304 & 159-1 v Middlesex 179

A glorious shot through extra cover from Alastair Cook flies away to the fence, and the Essex opener moves to 76 from 148 balls.

    He's a joy to watch.

  15. Postpublished at 11:34 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Durham 14-0 v Sussex - target 57

Soft hands by Alex Lees, who deflects Jaydev Unadkat's opening ball of a new over past the slips for four.

Unadkat then hurts his ankle in the delivery stride and leaves the field. Jack Carson will bowl the final two balls of the over.

    Durham 8-0 v Sussex - target 57

Ari Karvelas overpitches and Michael Jones reaches for it and steers through point for the first boundary of the innings.

Two overs gone - only 49 more needed by Durham.

  17. Postpublished at 11:29 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Hampshire 308 & 303-3dec v Somerset 137 & 136-4

Liam Dawson is into the attack in Southampton and gets a mile of turn to beat the edge of Tom Kohler-Cadmore's bat almost immediately.

TKC recovers with a swept four to move to 28 from 34 balls. James Rew has two from 21 at the other end.

    Somerset need 366.

  18. Postpublished at 11:28 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Durham 3-0 v Sussex - target 57

A single for Alex Lees from Jaydev Unadkat's opening delivery.

Michael Jones is off the mark with two - no sign of an immediate breakthrough for Sussex.

  19. 50 runs

for Harry Camepublished at 11:28 British Summer Time 6 September 2023

    Derbys 127-2 v Yorks - target 572

A thick edge off George Hill brings Wayne Madsen four runs to third man and that is a 50 partnership with Harry Came off just 56 balls.

Came puts away a no-ball to square leg later in the over and reaches his own 50 from 116 balls.

Survival is surely Derbyshire's main focus - but these two are certainly not willing to just block and block and block.....

Here we go then. How long will it take Durham to knock off these runs?

Alex Lees - with five centuries this season - and Michael Jones are the two openers.
