  1. Dropped!published at 15:51 British Summer Time 26 September 2023

    Kent v Lancashire 235-7

Kent should have a third wicket since tea but captain Jack Leaning has shelled a bad one.

Aron Nijjar tosses one up, Matt Hurst with the edge straight to Leaning and it goes straight in and out of his midriff.

Lancashire should be eight down. Will that prove costly?

  3. 50 runs

for Kashif Alipublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 26 September 2023

    Yorkshire v Worcestershire 151-4

Nine lovely boundaries in Kashif Ali's innings as he reaches 50 for the second time in first-class cricket.

The 25-year-old is leading a good Worcestershire fightback from trouble at 67-4.

  4. Tea at the Ageas Bowlpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 26 September 2023

    Hants 168-7 v Surrey

A better session for Hampshire but Surrey have still taken three wickets and are enjoying by far the better day.

Ben Brown's 57 not out holding up Surrey's push to clinch the title.

35 overs left in the day.

  5. wicket

WICKET Bailey c Gilchrist b Nijjar 0published at 15:43 British Summer Time 26 September 2023

    Kent v Lancashire 232-7

A second wicket in as many overs for Kent and they can sense knocking over the Lancashire tail now!

Tom Bailey, probably batting one place too high at eight, goes to an ugly offside swipe without troubling the scorers.

A first wicket of the day for Aron Nijjar.

  6. Somerset six downpublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 26 September 2023

    Warwickshire v Somerset 37-6

It's all going wrong for Somerset at Edgbaston.

Tom Banton has just fallen to Ed Barnard, bowled offering no shot, to leave them 37-6.

There's little riding on the game in terms of prizes but it's a nightmare start for the visitors after that lengthy rain delay.

  7. wicket

WICKET Balderson c Compton b Chahal 54published at 15:40 British Summer Time 26 September 2023

    Kent v Lancashire 231-6

The perfect start to the evening session for Kent!

George Balderson goes without adding to his pre-tea score as Yazvendra Chahal gets one to bounce and turn from outside off and the ball goes to short leg.

A second bowling point for Kent. They are now THREE clear of Middlesex, as things stand.

  8. wicket

WICKET Stoneman lbw b Hutton 14published at 15:38 British Summer Time 26 September 2023

    Nottinghamshire v Middlesex 33-2

    Two wickets in three balls!

Brett Hutton bowls wicket-to-wicket and there is a hint of movement in to Mark Stoneman, who is absolutely plumb.

From the relative safety of 33-0 a few minutes ago, Middlesex are in a hint of trouble.

  9. 50 runs

for Ben Brownpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 26 September 2023

    Hants 157-7 v Surrey

Finally someone has got stuck in for Hampshire and Ben Brown reaches half-century in 63 balls on the stroke of tea.

He's been positive, taking on the short ball, enjoyed a little luck but has landed a punch back for the hosts.

  10. wicket

WICKET Robson c Moores b Ball 17published at 15:30 British Summer Time 26 September 2023

    Nottinghamshire v Middlesex 33-1

The breakthrough in his final Notts match for Jake Ball!

The floodlights had just come on at Trent Bridge, and Ball gets Sam Robson fending forward, with the edge taken behind the stumps.

This could be a tricky time to bat for new man Max Holden.

  11. Postpublished at 15:23 British Summer Time 26 September 2023

    Nottinghamshire v Middlesex 27-0

Sam Robson clips the final ball of Jake Ball's third over down to the boundary for another four.

This opening stand is a minor triumph given some of Middlesex's travails in 2023.

It is the first Championship cricket at Trent Bridge since the end of July. It almost feels like an after-thought tagged on at the end!

  12. 50 runs

for Rob Keoghpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 26 September 2023

    Northants 136-4 v Essex

A fifth score of fifty-plus for Rob Keogh this season. A steady campaign among a poor one for the Northants line up.

He works Umesh Yadav for his 10th four to raise a half-century in 62 balls.

Saif Zaib with him on eight trying to get their side back in the day.

They now take tea at Northampton with still 43 overs left in the day.

  13. Tea at Canterburypublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 26 September 2023

    Kent v Lancashire 231-5

George Balderson with a handsome drive off Yazvendra Chahal's leg-spin for four in the final over before tea.

He has batted through the session, for the loss of only centurion Josh Bohannon.

How he can marshal the Lancashire lower order and tail will set the tone for this match.

  14. Division Two latestpublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 26 September 2023

Gloucestershire have finally bowled out Sussex for 202 following some lower-order resistance led by Jack Carson (56) - Matt Taylor finished with 5-24.

Derbyshire opener Luis Reece has just brought up his hundred against Glamorgan in Cardiff. His side are in control on 194-1.

As we've just heard from Martin Emmerson, Durham have brought up their 50th batting bonus point of the season in going to 255-4 against Leicestershire.

And Worcestershire have just reached tea on 130-4 against Yorkshire at Headingley.

  15. 50 runs

for George Baldersonpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 26 September 2023

    Kent v Lancashire 226-5

Jack Leaning drops short and that allows George Balderson to drop back and cut away the single that he needs to reach his half century.

A fourth of the summer for the promising young all-rounder.

  16. Middlesex aim to cure Achilles heelpublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 26 September 2023

    Nottinghamshire v Middlesex 10-0

It is easy to spot Middlesex's problem this season:

    4-4 v Essex

    11-4 v Northants

    31-4 v Warwickshire

    25-4 v Essex

    19-5 v Lancashire

It is impossible to mount good totals from these positions.

Middlesex have only recorded two batting points all summer and they can ill afford to slip into another situation like this at Trent Bridge if they want to avoid relegation.

Openers Mark Stoneman and Sam Robson have seen off the first two overs, with Stoneman collecting two boundaries off Jake Ball's first crack.

  17. Record batting points for Durhampublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 26 September 2023

    Durham 250-4 v Leicestershire

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Durham have reached 250-4 in their first innings against Leicestershire and in doing so have reached 50 batting points for the season, breaking the 49 they set in 2009.

Both David Bedingham and Graham Clark have hit half-centuries and their partnership is worth 101 runs.

We have escaped the weather today but a big black cloud is sitting over Chester-le-Street at the moment and the lights are on again.

  18. Postpublished at 15:04 British Summer Time 26 September 2023

    Warwickshire v Somerset 24-4

Warwickshire's bowlers are all over Somerset at Edgbaston.

Ed Barnard has just picked up the fourth wicket, Andy Umeed, to leave the visitors 24-4.

James Rew has joined captain Tom Abell in the middle - two batters more than capable of launching some sort of recovery.

  19. 50 runs

partnershippublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 26 September 2023

    Yorkshire v Worcestershire 117-4

Kashif Ali tucks a single into the legside to collect one more run and reach a half-century stand between him and captain Brett D'Oliveira.

It is a comeback of sorts from 67-4.

  20. wicket

WICKET Bohannon st Finch b Leaning 113published at 14:55 British Summer Time 26 September 2023

    Kent v Lancashire 217-5

Josh Bohannon's excellent innings is brought to a close!

The part-time spin of Kent captain Jack Leaning does the trick, as coming round the wicket, Bohannon comes down the track, but the ball carries on the angle past his bat and Harry Finch completes the stumping.

A welcome wicket for Kent after a difficult afternoon and the end of a partnership worth 121.

Bohannon's innings lasted 167 balls and has helped his team away from the perilous position of 18-3.
