  1. Lunch at Cardiffpublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

    Glamorgan 8-0 (target 384) v Derbys

Sam Conners and Alex Thomson have sent down a couple of overs each before lunch, with Glamorgan openers Zain Ul Hassan and Eddie Byrom gleaning eight runs in total.

That leaves the home side to score another 376 runs for victory in the two sessions that remain of the season.

Earlier, Luis Reece racked up an unbeaten 119 and passed 1,000 runs for the season as Derbyshire declared on 234-2.

  2. Lunch at Chester LSpublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

    Durham 457-8 dec v Leicestershire 143 & 100-8

Will Davis adds a couple of runs to the Leicestershire score off Matt Parkinson in the final over before lunch - but it's surely just a matter of time at the Riverside.

Leicestershire began the final day on 13-0 but have lost wickets regularly - two each for Matthew Potts, Vishwa Fernando and Parkinson.

Tom Scriven and Lewis Hill are the only batters to reach 20, but Ben Cox is 18 not out at the interval.

It is a glorious day in Birmingham - but the season is sadly over here.

Hands have been shaken and the game has been called off.

Too much overnight rain had seeped onto an area of the outfield - and umpires Paul Pollard and Ian Blackwell have taken the decision to terminate the contest.

One of the days when Dickie Bird would surely have loved to have been in charge.

Warwickshire, already guaranteed to finished fourth, take nine points from the game to end up 13 points adrift of third-placed Hampshire.

Somerset, who take three points, cannot catch fifth-placed Lancashire - and earn some prize money. They will now finish sixth, unless Notts finish off Middlesex this afternoon.

  4. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

    Notts 384 v Middlesex 366 & 177-5

Sam Robson goes to lunch just 11 short of a century, but Middlesex haven't been able to build to kind of lead that would enable them to declare during the interval.

They are 159 ahead with five second-innings wickets standing and 66 overs left in the day.

Brett Hutton's two wickets this morning move him back into the lead in the race to finish as the Championship's leading wicket-taker with 62.

Jake Ball, playing his last game for the county, took an excellent catch to secure one of those wickets for Hutton, but hasn't yet picked up one himself.

  5. Lunch at Canterburypublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

    Kent 494 v Lancashire 327 & 226-5

Steven Croft cuts and is caught by Daniel Bell-Drummond at first slip - and that's lunch at the Spitfire Ground.

It's a second wicket of the morning for Aron Nijjar and he and fellow spinner Jack Leaning have put Kent on top after an opening stand of 194 between Luke Wells and Keaton Jennings.

Wells made 117 and Jennings 74, but Lancashire are only 59 in front and Kent have a great chance of a victory that would guarantee their place in Division One next season.

  6. wicket

WICKET Bean c and b Pennington 11published at 12:27 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

    Yorks 22-1 - target 360

Finlay Bean finishes his final innings of the season 17 runs short of 1,000 as Dillon Pennington takes a brilliant low return catch at Headingley.

The left-hander struck the ball well but Pennington sprawled forward in his follow through to take it just above the turf.

  7. wicket

WICKET Wright b Parkinson 0published at 12:25 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

    Durham 457-8 dec v Leics 143 & 94-8

Two in the over for Matt Parkinson - a perfect googly spins between bat and pad and Chris Wright registers a three-ball duck.

Looks like Leicestershire will be hitting the road heading south early.

  8. wicket

WICKET Scriven st Robinson b Parkinson 21published at 12:22 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

    Durham 457-8 dec v Leics 143 & 94-7

Lovely shot by Ben Cox, as Leicestershire's keeper-batter drives Jonny Bushnell through cover point for four.

But the Foxes lose another one as Tom Scriven attempts a..... well, only he knows what he was attempting....and is stumped as Matty Parkinson turns it past the outside edge.

Parkinson has certainly made an impact for the Division Two champions during his loan spell - but he'll be a Kent player in 2024.

  9. Postpublished at 12:21 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

    Kent 494 v Lancs 327 & 222-4

Josh Bohannon has been Lanceshire's best batter this season and they need another contribution from him now after slumping from 194-0 to 210-4 in the space of eight overs.

He clips an Arron Nijjar full toss to mid-wicket for four and is six not out, with Steven Croft on 14 - they lead by 55.

  10. 150 runs

up for Middlesexpublished at 12:16 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

    Notts 384 v Middlesex 366 & 150-5

Middlesex just haven't managed to gain the kind of traction they needed this morning and that's credit to Nottinghamshire's bowlers.

Ideally, the visitors would have been looking to smash it around and set themselves up for a lunchtime declaration - but they're only 132 ahead as it stands.

Sam Robson is 77 not out, with Josh de Caires on 12.

  11. 12.40 resumption at Edgbastonpublished at 12:14 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

    Warwks 273 v Somerset 215 & 90-2

A reminder that we've had no play so far today here, after a couple of pitch inspections this morning prompted concern about moisture in the field and an early lunch break.

If conditions permit, we'll get underway in just under half an hour.

  12. wicket

WICKET Balderson c Compton b Leaning 1published at 12:13 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

    Kent 494 v Lancs 327 & 210-4

The pressure on Lancashire increases - but some of it is self inflicted.

George Balderson has had an excellent season but drives loosely at a ball from Jack Leaning and is caught at cover.

That's 3-30 from 10 overs now for Leaning.

What has been your best moment of the 2023 county season? Presumably that's a stupid question to ask Surrey followers still celebrating another title. But what is the best innings, best spell of bowling, most brilliant catch taken, funniest incident that you have seen? Get in touch and let us know.

  14. Postpublished at 12:11 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

    Durham 457-8d v Leics 143 & 74-6

We could be into extra half hour territory here if Leicestershire lose another.

But for now, Tom Scriven is off the mark in streaky fashion with an edge in between second slip and gully for four runs as the batter pushes forward.

Cox gets a single off Vishwa Fernando, who finds the edge of Scriven's bat on the drive next ball but it doesn't quite carry to keeper Ollie Robinson.

Scriven picks up three more runs, deflecting Fernando safely through backward point.

  15. Derbyshire set Glamorgan 384 to winpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

    Glamorgan 301-5 dec v Derbys 234-2 dec

It looked as though Leus du Plooy fancied a half-century in his final innings for Derbyshire, but he decides to pull out midway through Kiran Carlson's over and ends his career for the county with an unbeaten 38.

Luis Reece finishes 119 not out and Glamorgan now have 70 overs in which to chase 384.

They'll have a few of those to face before lunch.

    Yorks 6-0 - target 360

You can bet there won't be any part-time bowlers employed by Worcestershire at Headingley.

Yorkshire are 6-0 after three overs of their run-chase and Finlay Bean and Adam Lyth have the chance of passing 1,000 runs for the season - they are both in the 970s at the moment.

  18. wicket

WICKET Hill b Fernando 20published at 12:00 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

    Durham 457-8d v Leics 143 & 65-6

Leicestershire's lowest score against Durham is currently 101, but that could be in jeopardy here.

The new batter is Ben Cox, who gets off the mark with a neat clip to square leg for three.

He gets three more with a deflection through mid wicket off Vishwa Fernando at the other end.

But now Lewis Hill has gone!

Perfect yorker from Fernando which rips out off stump and nearly uproots the middle peg as well.

The new batter is Tom Scriven.

  19. wicket

WICKET Simpson c Moores b Mullaney 9published at 12:00 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

    Notts 384 v Middlesex 366 & 128-5

If anyone's been relaying news of those Lancashire wickets at Canterbury, it might just increase the sense of urgency in the Middlesex camp.

However, they've lost another one themselves as John Simpson takes a swing at Steven Mullaney and Tom Moores moves around to take a skier comfortably.

Middlesex lead by 110, with five wickets standing.

  20. wicket

WICKET Bell c Finch b Nijjar 1published at 11:53 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

    Kent 494 v Lancs 327 & 199-3

You have to say that is a loose shot.

George Bell tries to swish Aron Nijjar's left-arm spin to leg and Harry Finch takes a smart catch behind the stumps.

Looking good for Kent now - are they going to secure their Division One status with a victory?
