Yorkshire have a chance here, in spite of the mountain of runs required.

Adam Lyth picks up his fifth half century of a campaign in which he also has three hundreds with a reverse swept four off Josh Baker.

    57 balls and seven fours.

    Notts 36-0 (target 207) v Middlesex

    Ben SlaterImage source, Rex Features

Nottinghamshire are coasting at the moment.

Ben Slater scored a century in the first innings and he's looked in good nick again, driving Ethan Bamber for a couple of boundaries as the home side race away at more than seven an over.

Middlesex need to find a trick or two up their sleeve very quickly.

    Durham 457-8d v Leics 143 & 161-8

This partnership is getting more than a little annoying for Durham.

Matt Parkinson tosses the ball up to Ben Cox, who sweeps in front of square for four runs.

Fernando bangs the ball in short with three fielders out on the hook and Will Davis smashes the ball through mid wicket for four.

He's now on 47 - his highest score in first-class cricket and a maiden 50 is in touching distance.

    He's got it!

Full and driven through cover for three.

58 balls with six fours and a six.

Will Davis, playing in his last game for Leicestershire, has just reached a career-best 47. He is out of contract after the game and looking for new employment.

He joined Ben Cox in the middle with Leicestershire 94-8 while following-on and trailing by 220. They have added 64 runs so far for the ninth wicket.

Durham need two more wickets to wrap up the season and get their hands on that second division trophy.

    Durham 457-8d v Leics 143 & 150-8

Matt Potts is really ticking here.

He's bowling plenty of short stuff to Will Davis, who continues to pull and hook.

His current highest score in first-class cricket is 44 and he looks in the mood to better that today.

Parkinson has been replaced by Fernando at the Lumley End.

He has Davis playing and missing outside off straight away.

The second ball is edged just short of Michael Jones at slip.

The fourth ball is short and swatted down the ground for four!

The straight pull shot, so to speak, brings up a 50 partnership for the ninth wicket in 83 balls.

Four more driven through point - and that's the innings 150.

Zain ul Hassan attempts an ambitious reverse sweep against Alex Thomson and is pinned in front by the spinner.

Colin Ingram is the new man in for Glamorgan.

  7. Lancashire lead reaches three figurespublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

    Kent 494 v Lancs 327 & 271-7

Tom Bailey is certainly a handy lower-order bat and once again, he has had a very good season for Lancashire.

He square cuts Yuzvendra Chahal for four and then picks up three to keep the strike. The lead is now 104.

    Notts 16-0 (target 207) v Middlesex

Well, Nottinghamshire certainly look interested in the opportunity Middlesex have presented them to try and round off their campaign with a victory.

Haseeb Hameed has just pumped three boundaries from Toby Roland-Jones' first over, leg-glancing the first and then striking two more to the midwicket fence.

Notts need 191 more to win, with 56 overs remaining.

    Kent 494 v Lancs 327 & 263-7

Kent are continuing with their spin attack, despite the new ball having been available for three overs.

Just a couple of singles from Jack Leaning's latest and Lancashire lead by 96 with 50 overs left in the day's play.

Josh Bohannon is still there on 22 not out.

Will Davis attacks the short ball from Matt Potts, swinging over mid wicket for six.

    Not that short, actually.

Four more runs off the next ball, which is shorter, quicker and hooked to backward square.

  11. 1000 runs in the season for Lythpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

    Yorks 69-1 target 360

Ben Gibbon is a bit wide of the off stump and Adam Lyth drives the ball through cover for four.

The next ball is cut to third man for a single - and that takes Lyth to 999 runs for the season.

    Josh Baker bowls to Lyth...

    There's his 1000!

Leg side and flicked safely around the corner for one.

Remarkable consistency from the Yorkshire opener.

    Glamorgan 43-0 (target 384) v Derbys

Still 59 overs scheduled at Cardiff, but no breakthrough just yet for Derbyshire in their last opportunity to post a County Championship victory this season.

Spinner Alex Thomson is back on for the visitors, with Glamorgan's openers reaching 43 without loss so far.

    Kent 494 v Lancs 327 & 258-7

A dilemma for Kent as Yuzvendra Chahal takes his second wicket of the afternoon session.

Tom Hartley top edges an attempted slog sweep and Ben Compton does well to keep his eye on the ball staring into the sun and complete the catch.

The new ball is now due - with Lancashire 91 ahead - but it's the spinners who are doing the business for the home side.

  14. Postpublished at 13:37 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

    Durham 457-8d v Leics 143 & 127-8

Will Davis is getting a bit restless.

He looks to drive Matt Potts and doesn't get hold of it as the ball is squirted to mid on.

A pull shot falls just a tad short of Matt Parkinson at mid wicket.

He gets hold of this one though, driving a full ball from Potts down the ground for four.

  15. Surrey receive Championship trophypublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

Surrey lost by 52 runs to Hampshire this morning, but have probably forgotten about that already, now the trophy is in their hands again.

They are the first team to register back to back titles since Yorkshire in 2014 and 2015.

  16. Middlesex declare, Nottinghamshire need 207 to winpublished at 13:34 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

    Notts 384 v Middlesex 366 & 224-6 dec

As expected, the declaration comes just 25 minutes into this afternoon session and Middlesex have 58 overs in which to save themselves - although they may yet be overtaken by events at Canterbury.

Nottinghamshire need 207 to finish their campaign with a victory.

    Yorks 54-1 - target 360

Yorkshire are accelerating here and we shouldn't rule out a run chase just yet.

Adam Lyth picks up four runs off Ben Allison, driving the bowler through cover off the back foot.

A brace of fours for Shan Masood off the 16th over, bowled by Ben Gibbon at the other end, one clipped to square leg and another flayed through cover.

The Yorkshire 50 comes in the same over, with a Masood flick through mid wicket for two.

    Kent 494 v Lancs 327 & 252-6

Lancashire reach 250 with back to back fours from Tom Hartley - the first driven through the covers and the second, from a long hop, pulled away to square leg.

Aron Nijjar is the bowler to suffer and Kent turn to Joe Denly to see if he can make another breakthrough with his leg-spin.

Sam Robson (Middlesex)Image source, Rex Features

It's been another excellent knock by Sam Robson, who goes to his third hundred of the season from 106 balls.

The fact that only one other Middlesex player - Ryan Higgins, in the first innings of this game - has reached three figures all season speaks volumes for the perilous position they find themselves in.

  20. Postpublished at 13:29 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

    Durham 457-8d v Leics 143 & 119-8

Matt Parkinson bowls wide of the off peg and Will Davis thumps the ball through cover for four.

The deficit is now under 200.

Davis keeps the strike with a single off the last ball, whipped through mid wicket.

Matt Potts bowls short to Davis, who pulls and gets one more through mid wicket.

Cox drives the third ball to mid off for one and Davis nearly gets himself out, trying to uppercut a bouncer over the keeper's head as the ball just evades the top edge.
