Lyon gets the extra bounce. He comes of the top of the ball. Big wicket for Australia.

    Jadeja c Smith b Lyon 48 (Ind 142-5)

    Lyon makes the breakthrough!

He bowls around the wicket to the left-handed Ravindra Jadeja, who pushes at the ball. It grips, turns, snares the edge and lands in the safe hands of Steve Smith.

Jadeja cannot believe it. He just stands there seemingly in shock before eventually walking off.

    A huge wicket for Australia.

If I had a blank canvass, particularly in T20 cricket, I would pick Ravindra Jadeja. I'd have Ben Stokes any day of the week too.

    India are fighting hard.

  5. Ind 141-4published at 34 overs

Lovely timing from Ravindra Jadeja, he opens the face and uses the pace of Mitchell Starc to guide the ball down to third man.

He repeats the trick two balls later and it just evades the diving Cameron Green at gully before going over the rope once more.

A straight drive then brings two, moving Jadeja to 48.

We enter the extra half an hour still 18 overs short of the scheduled 90. We aint getting all those in.

Nathan Lyon gets just the one delivery to the left-handed Ravindra Jadeja, who pushes it towards mid-wicket for a single.

Ajinkya Rahane then pinches the strike for the next over with another single off the final ball.

Time for some spin for the first time this innings as Nathan Lyon enters the fray.

Jadeja has batted with positive intent. That is important. If the ball is there to play a shot you might as well. That's what these two need to do - not get bogged down by the scoreboard.

  10. Ind 125-4published at 32 overs

This India pair have been very good at putting away the bad balls.

Scott Boland, generally so accurate, slightly overpitches and Ravindra Jadeja dispatches him away for four.

The India crowd, who have been largely quiet this evening session, loved that.

That is an impossible ball! It took off from just short of a length. It flew high the keeper got nowhere near it.

That was the sort of thing you used to see at Perth off the cracks.

  12. Ind 120-4published at 31 overs

Wow, that absolutely exploded out of the pitch. Ravindra Jadeja was nowhere near it and neither was wicketkeeper Alex Carey, the ball flying right over his head and away for four byes.

Scott Boland had never been hit for six in Test cricket...until now.

  14. Ind 116-4published at 30 overs

Lovely shot from Ajinkya Rahane, who seizes on a rare over-pitched delivery from Scott Boland and clatters the ball through the covers.

Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja are leading something of a recovery, their partnership is now worth 45.

Green is an enormous man. He is towering over Rahane.

  17. Ind 112-4published at 29 overs

Ajinkya Rahane is fine to continue, though he still does not look completely comfortable as he plays another awkward pull to square leg for a single.

Green ends the over with a bouncer that forces Ravindra Jadeja into evasive action.

  19. ouch!

    Ind 111-4published at 28.1 overs

Ajinkya Rahane is in the wars again as he attempts to pull a short Cameron Green delivery but the ball can only smack into the side of his helmet and fly towards the slips.

The physio comes out again for a concussion check, though it looks like Rahane will be fine to continue.

Australia's bowlers have been very good. They have varied lengths but their line has been spot on.
