  1. Aus 177-6published at 63.4 overs

Alex Carey might start going for it now, as he slashes Mohammed Siraj to the boundary and follows it with four more guided over the slips.

It was a strange innings from Cameron Green. Obviously we're not sure what he was advised, but it was just a bit negative.

Nobody is expecting Australia to go full-throttle England-style. But you'd expect a bit more than that.

The issue Australia have is they haven't gone anywhere this morning - 45 runs in an hour and a half. Yes, it's been tough going, but the lower-order is now exposed without the lead having been advanced too much.

That is a strange dismissal, you don't see that happen very often. That tactic worked!

    Green b Jadeja 25 (Aus 167-6)

    Jadeja has his reward!

A strange dismissal, as Cameron Green offers no shot and the ball hits his pad before trickling back on to the stumps.

Green departs for an interesting 25 from 95 balls.

It's been a great spell of bowling from India's spinner. Can he polish off the rest?

  5. Aus 166-5published at 62 overs

    Lead by 339

Siraj continues to test Cameron Green with the short ball.

And a test it really is. He gets Green to jump, takes his eyes off the ball, and gloves it behind - but it's way over the keeper's head.

Such good bowling. Especially considering Green is about nine foot tall.

On the surface, it looks like Australia are in a sound position but there are some scars in this Australia cricket team from India in the last two series in Australia.

They will be wary of the Indian warriors in the second innings.

The narrative is not written yet but we never know, and that is the magic of Test cricket.

  7. Aus 161-5published at 61 overs

Ravindra Jadeja has got a decent amount of rough to work with outside left-hander Carey's off stump, and he's making the most of it.

More gasps as one just fizzes past the outside edge.

  8. Aus 160-5published at 60 overs

    Lead by 333

Vicious stuff from Mohammed Siraj, as he almost sneaks one through Green's defences.

But just think how good it would be to see Jasprit Bumrah on a pitch like this.

    India have missed him badly.

That was a deliberate short ball from Mohammed Siraj, it was a good ball, nasty length and you have to give credit to a bowler for that.

If Australia get out of this without an impact injury to one of their players, they'll have done very, very well.

  11. ouch!

    Aus 160-5published at 59.4 overs

Oh, that is an absolute ripper.

Mohammed Siraj gets one to bounce sharply up at Cameron Green's shoulder - and that's a long way up.

    That hurt.

    Another trip for the physio.

This is good steady stuff from Ravi Jadeja.

India have to pick up wickets. The older the ball gets, the easier it will be for the batters.

  13. Aus 159-5published at 59 overs

How does Jadeja do it? Another over ticks by in the space of about 30 seconds.

Only a few shots worth talking about this morning, and this was certainly one of them.

It's been good from India's perspective, they would have ideally liked another wicket but in terms of runs scored they have done well to keep it tight.

  16. drinks break

    Aus 156-5published at 58 overs

Four leg-byes from Cameron Green takes us to drinks.

I'm not sure what to make of that first hour, to be honest. Kind of thought Australia would try to, you know, do something.

    The lead is 329.

Re John 11:18. So your plan presumably instead is to try and bore them out, and try and block our way out of everything? England don't 'slog' they hit the poor balls rather than block them.

  18. Aus 151-5published at 57 overs

Ooh, an expensive over from Jadeja.

    Three singles from it!

    This was quite nice, though.

  20. Aus 148-5published at 56 overs

Just the one from Siraj's latest over. Little else to report.

So, anyone got any exciting weekend plans? Had something nice for breakfast?
