The only way we won't get a result here is if England are chasing a target and find themselves six or seven down. Even then, if they have to survive it will be an exciting draw.

Just the 17 balls after the break but three wickets.

England have given themselves just a smidgen of a chance. To win they'll need a record fourth innings total of 268, but they stopped the target reaching an unfathomable total, which it easily could have done with even a bit of moderate Australian tail action after tea.

I have tears in my eyes. What an achievement from Sophie Ecclestone as she holds the ball up to the ground. To get 10-fer in an Ashes match. Unbelievable from her. To see her emotion is touching.

Sophie Ecclestone drops to her knees because she has put her body, heart and soul into this game and has been rewarded with 10 wickets in the match. All her team-mates are queuing up to give her a hug.

  5. wicket

    Umpire's call, but that's enough!

Ten wickets for Sophie Ecclestone, five of them in this innings. Fine reward for her toil throughout this Test. She holds the ball up high as she exits the field and England will be chasing a target of 268.

This is out! It looks so out. Both batters are walking off, which tells you everything.

  7. Australia reviewpublished at 78.5 overs

Is that the end of the innings? Sophie Ecclestone thinks she's trapped new batter Darcie Brown in front. The finger is up but Australia have taken a token review. This looks very out.

Alyssa Healy what are you doing? She will be furious with that. She's 50 not out and then she gets a juicy full toss which she pats into the leg side. Sophie Ecclestone is team-mates with Alyssa Healy in the BBL which explains why she laughed out loud.

Before that it was a wonderful knock from Alyssa Healy, especially coming into this Test on the back of three Test ducks. She had changed the game with her aggression at a time when England were on top.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 78.1 overs

    Healy c Lamb b Ecclestone 50 (Aus 257-9)

    Oh, Alyssa!

A meaty full toss from Ecclestone, perhaps one of her worst deliveries of the innings. Healy's eyes light up and she goes to slap the ball through mid-wicket but succeeds only in picking out Emma Lamb, making a standing leap to take it above her head.

    Healy departs for 50.

It's not a good shot from Alana King at all. A shot of a tail ender. really. Lauren Bell is relieved to get a wicket. England needed that wicket because that was a partnership worth 59. England will start to have this run chase in the back of their minds.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 77.5 overs

    King c Knight b Bell 9 (Aus 257-8)

But King won't be carrying on!

She squares up to a shorter ball from Lauren Bell and offers a simple catch to Heather Knight at slip.

    50 for Alyssa Healy.

Lauren Bell is on for her first over of the day. Healy works Lauren Bell away through the covers for a single. Not much of a celebration, she's focused on carrying on.

When Kate Cross dropped that catch off Phoebe Litchfield at the start of the day she actually dislocated her thumb. That's why she was off the field for so long. She had to put it back in herself. When I saw her at tea I just gave her a hug and said well bowled!

  14. Aus 254-7published at 77 overs

Sophie Ecclestone's 30th over of the innings is maiden. Lots of close fielders, Alana King is disinclined to offer them a chance.

    Thanks Tim.

I think the last time I kept wicket was in a stag do at Glamorgan's indoor school, where a number of off-season seamers ran in having retained most of their speed but none of their accuracy.

The length of the hall meant I was stood up when I'd been normally be somewhere near the sightscreen. But I learnt the lesson that if your hands can't stop the ball, then maybe your thigh, stomach or chin can.

Anyway, here's Sophie Ecclestone to get us going. Who else?

  18. 'It is finely balanced, Australia need more'published at 15:59 British Summer Time 25 June 2023

England bowler Kate Cross talking to Sky Sports: "We've just had a fantastic session. It has been pretty difficult to take wickets on this wicket so to take four in a session is pretty unbelievable.

"It is finely balanced but Australia will feel like they need some more because it is an easy pitch to score runs on it.

"To have them seven down at tea feels like an unbelievable effort from the bowling group.

"We know if we create chances then wickets will come. We know with the way that Healy plays she'll give chances."

And here are the four wickets that England claimed in the afternoon session.

Surprise, surprise it was left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone that stepped up, with the 24-year-old claiming three scalps.

Just joining us? We'll show you all seven wickets during tea.

Here are the three that England took in the morning session.

There was another positive contribution from debutant Lauren Filer, who removed Ellyse Perry for the second time in the Test and Tahlia McGrath.
