The Guardian's Jonathan Liew on TMS: "It is objectively funny that this happened. Bairstow shouldn't have been walking out of the ground. It's created some really interested cricket here for sure.

"The umpires clearly didn't decide and so he's out I'm afraid.

"The dismissal falls into the category of dismissals' that people hate and it enrages.

"Stokes is fired up and he got to his 100. Maybe it's poked the beast and maybe Australia will regret it."

Here it is, folks. This is the moment that turned the usually so becalmed Lord's into a bearpit.

I don’t normally watch cricket but I’m quite enjoying this ‘moody cricket’. More please!

It is not normally like this, Paul. But it may well be for the rest of this series...

You don't see that atmosphere here at Lord's at all!

I should probably remind you that England still need another 128 runs to win.

    Australia need four wickets.

That doesn't even begin to tell you the story of that morning session.

Stuart Broad is ironically clapping Pat Cummins on the way off.

Lord’s is febrile. Journalists who have done this longer than me say they have never seen Lord’s like this.

There's silence in the Long Room. You can feel the passion and atmosphere here in the commentary box.

Broad is certainly playing up to this. You can see he is engaging with the players here.

Australia are going to get a few boos when they walk back in, they're going in as a collective.

It certainly is, Stuart Broad is really getting involved in an, um, debate.

The England batters are applauded off. Not much applause for the Aussies as they walk through the Long Room.

Wait a minute, even some of the members are having a pop at the Australia team.

Honestly, I just don't know what to say about that, which admittedly isn't great given my role here!

That lunch walk back in could be very interesting.

My heart is racing - this is just thrilling cricket! Lord's is feral!

The partnership between Stuart Broad and Ben Stokes is now up to 50. Broad is one not out.

Big cheers as Broad defends the last. That is lunch.

Cam Green is booed back to his fielding position. There are the predictable obscene gestures sent his way too.

Dr James Pope: The Aussies have broken Lord's.....

James Lowe: If you can make first session Lord's sound like evening session Hollies you’ve obviously done something egregious

Lord's goes up in unison to appeal as the ball very clearly bounces in front of Alex Carey.

"Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! Cheat, cheat, cheat!" bellow the crowd.

Honestly, this is just outrageous cricket, being played to a soundtrack of boos from the Lord's crowd.

    Just ridiculous.
