A century for Rishi Patel! It’s his first in T20 cricket and it’s been absolutely magnificent.

Patel gets to three figures off 45 balls with a huge, huge six over mid-wicket. 12 fours and four sixes for the right-handed batter.

Saif Zaib may be the key man now for Northants and he produces a perfectly timed reverse sweep for four off Moeen Ali.

Only ones and twos in the next over, bowled by Danny Briggs, and the Steelbacks need 69 off 42 balls to win.

Josh Davey comes up with the goods for Somerset!

  9. Postpublished at 20:42 British Summer Time 9 June 2023

    Glamorgan 101-1 v Essex 226-9

Colin Ingram hits Matt Critchley over mid-wicket for six as Glamorgan reach the mid-point of their chase with three figures on the scoreboard.

Ingram is 19 not out and Sam Northeast has 40 and if these two can stay together till late in the innings, maybe the home side can still chase this down.

  10. 50 runs

for Daniel Bell-Drummondpublished at 20:41 British Summer Time 9 June 2023

    Kent 100-1 v Hampshire 177-7

The feeling in the BBC local radio commentary box was that Hampshire's total of 177-7 was on the higher side of par.

However, if Daniel Bell-Drummond can keep this up, Kent will stand a good chance of reaching that victory target.

  11. Postpublished at 20:41 British Summer Time 9 June 2023

  13. Postpublished at 20:39 British Summer Time 9 June 2023

    Kent 93-1 v Hampshire 177-7

A very anxious moment at Canterbury as Joe Denly hammers a shot straight back at Mason Crane and hits the Hampshire spinner, who looks a bit shaken.

It was driven straight towards him at head height and thankfully it seems like Crane got his hand in the way to block it.

Clearly no intent on Denly's part, and he was quickly across to make sure Crane was ok.

  14. Postpublished at 20:38 British Summer Time 9 June 2023

    Glamorgan 92-1 v Essex 226-9

Simon Harmer on for Essex now and that's a good start, just four singles from his opening over.

Great work from the visitors with Surrey's total their record score in T20, surpassing the 250-6 they hit v Kent at Canterbury.

It's also the fourth highest score in T20 Blast history, with only three teams scoring more:

    • Somerset 265-5 v Derbyshire at Taunton, 2022
    • Warks 261-2 v Notts, at Trent Bridge, 2022
    • Yorkshire 260-4 v Northants, at Headingley, 2017

Laurie Evans' 94 lit-up the innings, along with Sam Curran's 69, and Tom Curran's quickfire 29 from nine balls helped raise that total.

  17. wicket

    WICKET - MacManus c Mousley b Moeen 4published at 20:30 British Summer Time 9 June 2023

    Bears 137 v Northants 42-5

  19. Postpublished at 20:28 British Summer Time 9 June 2023

    Derbyshire 142-6 v Notts 54-3

Seven overs gone and Notts have lost a third wicket, with Matthew Montgomery the latest batter to fall.

The Outlaws need a period of consolidation here and you couldn't ask for two more experienced heads in a situation like this than Alex Hales and Samit Patel.

  20. wicket

    WICKET: T Curran c Clark b Mills 29published at 20:28 British Summer Time 9 June 2023

    Sussex v Surrey 248-6

A six, a four, and out for Tom Curran who has bashed 29 from just nine balls to help move Surrey's score on quickly.

In fact, this is now Surrey's highest ever T20 total against Sussex.

Tymal Mills again the man with the wicket and he then removes Jamie Smith too.

Mills has two wickets but went for 50 runs in his four overs.
