  1. Postpublished at 21 overs

    UAE 94-5 (target 283)

Mark Watt is tossing some of these from next to the umpire. It's quite incredible stuff. Just three from the over - with a couple of shouts of "catch it!!" as well.

The UAE need 189 from 174, and are still going slightly better than Scotland were at this stage.

Chris Greaves is coming on for a spell. He'll be confident after his performance with the batt.

  2. 6 runs

    Postpublished at 20 overs

    UAE 91-5 (target 283)

Well, Chris Sole has come back on after all! His first four are dots, before Ali Naseer takes on the short ball and wins two for his bravery.

The next ball is banged short and Naseer twirls, pulling the ball for six! I don't think anyone expected that. It's ended up being an expensive risk.

  3. wicket

WICKET Waseem lbw b Watt 36published at 18.4 overs

    UAE 82-5 (target 283)

They don't need Chris Sole! Mark Watt does the business!

Beautiful delivery, tempting Waseem into the massive shot. He was aiming for the car park, but the blade misses the ball and he's caught dead in front on his thigh.

That is the big wicket. How do the UAE recover from the loss of their captain?

  4. Postpublished at 18 overs

    UAE 82-4 (target 283)

Muhammad Waseem gets lucky, edging inside past his leg stump. Just two off the over from Safyaan Sharif.

Should Scotland bring Chris Sole back on, in an attempt to remove Waseem? He struggled against Sole's pace early on.

  5. Postpublished at 17 overs

    UAE 80-4 (target 283)

Basil Hameed gets off the mark in an expensive over, as both he and Muhammad Waseem pick up boundaries.

Ten given away by Mark Watt there. A rebuild from the UAE, perhaps?

  6. Postpublished at 16.1 overs

    UAE 70-4 (target 283)

After a quick drinks break, we are back. Sharif will finish his over, bowling to Basil Hameed... and it's two dot balls.

Mark Watt is on, and is played for four by Muhammad Waseem. A bit wide, and he slashes it away. Scotland could do with getting the skipper out.

  7. wicket

WICKET Khan c Watt b Sharif 17published at 15.4 overs

    UAE 70-4 (target 283)

Safyaan Sharif makes the breakthrough and ends this partnership!

It was a short ball that bounced off the helmet of Asif Khan - but did it hit his glove? The man who eventually took the catch - Mark Watt - didn't look convinced.

Khan wasn't happy either - he thought it came off his forearm. Either way, he's walking.

  8. Postpublished at 15 overs

    UAE 69-3 (target 283)

Loud appeal as Mark Watt traps Asif Khan on the pads, but it's running down leg.

At this same stage, Scotland were 48-4. Hmmm.

  9. Postpublished at 14 overs

    UAE 67-3 (target 283)

This partnership is steadily moving forward. 33 from 49 balls and, I'll whisper it quietly, they could give themselves a sniff.

In fact, it's been a better start in terms of runs than Scotland.

  10. Postpublished at 13.1 overs

    UAE 64-3 (target 283)

Nine runs in the last four overs from Sharif and Watt. That's not bad, and it's put the required run rate at six an over.

Asif Khan then edges the first ball of Sharif's over into the slip cordon - but Mark Watt had just been moved to gully from first slip.

That could have been a wicket.

  12. Postpublished at 12 overs

    UAE 57-3 (target 283)

Safyaan Sharif almost fools Rohan Mustafa with a short one and he spins round, hooking it into the air. But, it bounces short of fine leg.

Next ball is a very loud appeal for LBW against Muhammad Waseem but the umpire is unmoved.

Scotland need to be ruthless. The UAE are just where they want them, but they can't allow the intensity to drop and the game to drift.

  13. Postpublished at 11 overs

    UAE 51-3 (target 283)

Mark Watt varied it up nicely in his quickfire over, but the accuracy was absolutely dead on. Only one from that over, Scotland won't mind it.

The run rate is 4.64 currently. There's been a fair few boundaries but not much in between the wickets.

  14. Postpublished at 10 overs

    UAE 50-3 (target 283)

A maiden over from Safyaan Sharif, almost exactly what Scotland would have wanted.

Now comes Scotland's premier spinner - and possible all-rounder - Mark Watt.

  15. Postpublished at 9 overs

    UAE 49-3 (target 283)

A first boundary comes for Asif Khan, playing Chris Sole nicely off his pads.

Muhammad Waseem remaining out on the wicket is important. You saw how crucial it was for Scotland to have a fine innings from their skipper. Can Waseem have the same impact?

Safyaan Sharif is on, replacing Brandon McMullen. He's Scotland's leading wicket-taker in ODIs.

  16. Postpublished at 8 overs

    UAE 45-3 (target 283)

Chris Sole gives away just three from the next over, before McMullen comes back on. It's a boundary at the start, and then another with the fifth of the over.

He's been a little expensive so far today, but that's the risk that comes with the reward when McMullen bowls.

Scotland will be desperate to get that fourth wicket nice and early.

  17. wicket

WICKET Mustafa b McMullen 12published at 5.6 overs

    UAE 34-3 (target 283)

Never mind, the commentator knows nothing, it's an absolute corker!

Mustafa is not to the pitch of the ball. He dangles the bat, hoping to make contact but he can only watch on as the ball zips past the outside edge and thunders into the top of off stump!

This innings has been turned on its head!

  18. Postpublished at 5.5 overs

    UAE 34-2 (target 283)

Rohan Mustafa is off the mark, sending McMullen for consecutive fours.

There's a failed appeal, before Mustafa sends another one to the rope. Not the best over for McMullen.

  19. Postpublished at 5 overs

    UAE 22-2 (target 283)

Boo! No hat-trick for Chris Sole but a superb over from the fast bowler.

He beat Sharma and Aravind all ends up and has now put the UAE massively on the back foot.

  20. wicket

WICKET Aravind b Sole 0published at 4.3 overs

    UAE 21-2 (target 283)

Two in two! Chris Sole is on a hat-trick!

That's an incredible ball, it totally died on it's way through. There was no bounce on it at all, Aravind went to leave it and it skimmed by his shins before removing the stump.

Aravind goes for a golden duck! What a start for Scotland!
