That's a huge momentum-changer of an over from Gus Atkinson.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Mitchell c Buttler 8 (NZ 193-5)

    Oh, that's curious!

Mitchell tries to get out of the way of Atkinson's final delivery and ramp him up over the keeper.

He gets a feather touch and Jos Buttler takes a routine catch, which he barely celebrates. It is out, though.

  6. NZ 191-4published at 18.4 overs

Ooooh, that could have been close!

New batter Daryl MItchell pushes the ball to long-on, the ball comes to Atkinson at the bowler's end but he fumbles the ball as Chapman comes back.

Mitchell follows up with four down the ground.

That is great deception from Gus Atkinson. It was the slower ball out the front of the hand. From up here it looked like it was full pace.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 18.2 overs

    Phillips b Atkinson 69 (NZ 185-4)

A breakthrough and it's that man Atkinson again! Have England found a gem?

Slower ball yorker - Phillips has his bat raised high in his backlift, he tries to jam the ball down but he stands no chance.

  9. 6 runs

    NZ 184-3published at 17.5 overs

    And another!

Livingstone offers up a wide, but his next legitimate delivery gets the treatment. Over long-off this time, Phillips moves to 68 from 31.

Moeen Ali hasn't bowled today, curiously.

  10. NZ 177-3published at 17.4 overs

Consecutive sixes for Phillips, Livingstone is taking a bludgeoning!

Dragged down from the England spinner and he's twice lifted over mid-wicket - the second one bringing a good catch in the crowd.

  11. NZ 165-3published at 17.1 overs

Glenn Phillips brings up his fifty with a drive into the covers. It's cut off with a diving stop at the boundary, he and new batter Mark Chapman run two.

    It comes off 27 balls.

Swing and a miss! Finn Allen goes!

He tries to heave Luke Wood over mid-wicket, it's a bit of a cutter and Allen is through the shot early. Stumps are splayed.

Wood finishes on 1-36 from his four overs.

200 is on the cards here.

  14. 6 runs

    NZ 162-2published at 16.4 overs

Another maximum for Phillips, pulling Luke Wood to the square leg boundary and almost taking out a steward.

He follows up with four flat and hard down the ground, too much for the diving fielder at long-off.

  15. NZ 149-2published at 16 overs

Two more singles from Jordan as New Zealand rattle along at Edgbaston.

Meanwhile here's a look at Finn Allen's wagon wheel - he's been really strong in front of square so far during his 80 not out.

  16. NZ 147-2published at 15.4 overs

And four more for Phillips - he goes to thrash Jordan down the ground but the ball flies off the edge of the bat and flies away behind the wicket.

Those three successive sixes from Finn Allen made that Adil Rashid over the most expensive of the innings so far.

Glenn Phillips takes his turn to hit big, lashing Chris Jordan through the covers for four.

  19. NZ 137-2published at 15 overs

Solid recovery from Rashid with two singles coming from his last three balls, but New Zealand have an excellent platform now with plenty of batting to come.
