  1. NZ 66-1published at 11 overs

I was urged to do a 'I think you better leave right now' gag when Will Young was dismissed there. But you won't catch me making such cheesy puns here.

Henry Nicholls is the new batter as England opt for some twin spin, with Joe Root entering the attack.

    Young b Rashid 29(NZ 61-1)

    And Rashid strikes first ball!

That's an absolute beauty from the leggy. Pitching on middle, luring Will Young forward, spinning away and clipping his off stump.

Now we are out of the powerplay it is time for some spin as Adil Rashid enters the attack.

  4. NZ 61-0published at 10 overs

These two batters are ruthlessly picking off the bad balls.

David Willey drifts on to leg, allowing Will Young to clip away through the leg side to the rope.

Willey then goes to full, giving Devon Conway the chance to play another of his booming drives through the covers.

That completes a very tidy powerplay from the tourists.

  5. NZ 52-0published at 9 overs

Good response from Chris Woakes as he lures Will Young into a rare false shot outside off stump and very nearly snares the edge.

Woakes has been the pick of the bowlers so far, with just one leg bye of his latest over.

Sam Curran would be in my England World Cup side. He's had huge success with the ball in the IPL, he is a match-winner, he is explosive with the bat and is a very good player.

We have seen some impressive hitting New Zealand in the powerplay.

  8. NZ 51-0published at 8 overs

    Target 292

This is turning into a brilliant start for the tourists as Will Young smashes David Willey to the cover boundary before Devon Conway pulls to the rope through the on side to bring up the New Zealand 50.

Chris Woakes is engaged in a long chat with Ben Stokes and David Willey. Feels like time for a re-think.

  9. NZ 42-0published at 7 overs

Devon Conway clatters Chris Woakes away for back-to-back boundaries through the covers.

These two New Zealand openers are looking in good touch.

It is David Willey's 65th ODI and the 63rd time he's bowled and it is the first time since his debut in 2015 that he hasn't opened the bowling.

  11. NZ 33-0published at 6 overs

Good line and length from David Willey as he twice beats the outside edge of Devon Conway's bat.

Willey is another player who will feel he has unfinished World Cup business after he was dropped on the eve of the 2019 tournament.

  12. NZ 32-0published at 5 overs

Will Young clatters the ball through point to make it four boundaries from six deliveries as New Zealand put their foot on the accelerator, though Chris Woakes does well to concede just one run from the rest of the over.

After that expensive start Reece Topley is out of the attack with another left-armer, David Willey, replacing him.

  13. NZ 27-0published at 4 overs

Another lengthy over from Reece Topley, featuring two more wides and three boundaries - two back-to-back from Will Young and another from Devon Conway.

Topley is 0-25 from his first two overs.

England will be feeling reasonably content with life at the moment. Did a good job of creating chances across the first three overs.

  15. NZ 11-0published at 3 overs

    Target 292

Chris Woakes, player of the series at the Ashes, continues to prove his worth, going for just two runs from his first two overs.

England will be happy with this start.

  16. NZ 9-0published at 2 overs

    Target 292

That first over from Reece Topley had a bit of everything, including two wides.

Devon Conway gets in a bit of a tangle as he thinks about a drive outside off stump but changes his mind mid-shot and ends up fending the ball to the ground to first slip.

A fuller delivery is then smashed away for four, before another booming cover drive comes off Conway's inside edge and very nearly clatters into his own stumps.

Very good first over for Chris Woakes. He landed it pretty much where he wanted on every ball.

I think 292 is a demanding target in these conditions for New Zealand.

Straight down the ground is a productive area if we can access it, but didn't overly see it in the first innings.

  19. NZ 1-0published at 1 over

Devon Conway gets off the mark with a hurriedly-run single after a push into the off side. But apart from that Chris Woakes is bang on the money first up.

Left-armer Reece Topley will open at the other end.

    Thanks, Sam.

This match feels intriguingly poised. England will be happy with that score, but New Zealand never allowed them to fully cut loose.

Will Young and Devon Conway will open for the tourists, with Chris Woakes opening for England.
