  1. 50 runs

50 for Liam Livingstonepublished at 47 overs

    Eng 265-4

Liam Livingstone reaches his second ODI fifty from 39 balls!

That's the quickest of any England batter today and yet it feels like he's struggled for timing in the last few overs.

Still, he brings up the milestone with a boundary. A full toss hit over cover and just beating the fielder out there sweeping.

The last few overs have felt quite frenetic.

Buttler is maybe losing his rhythm because he has not been able to be on strike a lot and Livingstone has just slightly lost his shape during the last few overs.

  3. Eng 257-4published at 46 overs

Liam Livingstone heaves the free hit out to the long square boundary on the leg-side. He would have been caught but the fielder, knowing it won't be out, lets it bounce and throws it in.

The England batters are struggling to really time the ball but still manage to scramble nine from the over.

Jos Buttler has been starved of the strike in the past few overs.

  4. Not outpublished at 45.1 overs

    Eng 249-4

Oh dear! Liam Livingstone top-edges a hook shot off Lockie Ferguson, is caught in the deep and starts to walk off.

But he's called back because Ferguson has overstepped. It's a no-ball and a free hit.

England are well in the game at the minute. They would be happy with 248 so far with five overs to go.

England needed that boundary. They had lost a bit of momentum.

  7. Eng 248-4published at 45 overs

    Livingstone 40, Buttler 68

After being tied down for four balls by Tim Southee, Liam Livingstone flays the fifth away through backward point for four.

He needed that after getting bogged down following those three six on the trot.

Hot afternoon. Feels a bit like a Robbie Williams afternoon. When you are sitting out in the garden on a rug with a BBQ, with a bit of Robbie on. It is too hot for any throbbing or pulsing music.

  9. Eng 243-4published at 44 overs

That's a very good over from Lockie Ferguson, just three singles from it to drag it back a bit after the punishment Kyle Jamieson took in the previous over.

Boooo! Just a single from the last ball as Kyle Jamieson goes short again and Liam Livingstone pulls it into the leg side.

That over has certainly helped get England significantly closer to that 300 mark...

Jamieson has not had a great day with the ball here. He is trying to do a bit of everything and it is just going from bad to worse.

    Three consecutive sixes now.

  12. 6 runs

    Eng 239-4published at 42.5 overs

    Three in a row!

Short again and this time Liam Livingstone pulls it over deep square leg, into the stands for a third six on the spin.

    Dropped in the crowd.

Livingstone is under a lot of pressure with people talking about why he should be in that World Cup squad - well, he is proving why now.

  14. 6 runs

    Eng 233-4published at 42.4 overs

Six more! Liam Livingstone hammers it back over Kyle Jamieson's head for a big six.

Still not quite into the river yet, though...

  15. 6 runs

    Eng 227-4published at 42.3 overs

Kyle Jamieson loses his line with a slower ball, it angles onto the pads of Liam Livingstone and he whips it away over deep backward square for six!

  16. Postpublished at 15:33 British Summer Time 8 September 2023

Jos Buttler has gone past 50 and is still going strong...

  17. Eng 218-4published at 42 overs

Rachin Ravindra finishes well, just two singles from his last four balls and an impressive 10-over spell sees his end with figures of 3-48.

There was a lady carrying a couple of pizzas and a coffee in the stand below us and she quickly had to take cover there.

  19. 6 runs

    Eng 216-4published at 41.2 overs

Not quite into the river but it's not bad a marker from Jos Buttler! (To be fair, it didn't matter how far he hit, the river is at the other end...)

He goes back and launches Rachin Ravindra over long-on for six, just about avoiding a woman coming back up into the stands with a drink and her lunch.

If you were walking along that river path behind that stand at the far end, now is the time to get your catching gloves on.
