Not the prettiest shot but mightily effective.

It has not been the 'crash, bang, wallop' that England have as part of their DNA, but they have a platform.
Good over from Rachin Ravindra, just four from it.
The left-arm spinner has done an excellent job for New Zealand. He has figures of 3-40 with one over of his allotted 10 left to bowl.
We're heading into the last 10 overs of the innings. Is 300 still on for England?
Here is how Ben Stokes made it to his fifty on his return to the ODI side. Not a bad way to get there...
Unfortunately for England he departed a couple of balls later.

The run rate is conservative for England. You would think it would be around six at this stage. But, they do have the ability to put their foot on the gas.
Jos Buttler keeps the runs coming for England with a thick outside edge that races away fine.
He went for the cut shot as Tim Southee offered some width, not exactly where he wanted to hit it but it was always safe.
No chance for the deep third fielder to cut it off.
Ben Stokes is gone but Jos Buttler is still there and starting to build up a head of steam...
Liam Livingstone is the new batter for England. He could do with some time at the crease before the World Cup.

Ben Stokes punches gloves with Jos Buttler and for 25th time in his one-day international career he passes 50. Three times he has passed 100.

Ben Stokes brings up his 25th ODI half-century with a six!
He marks his return to the one-day side with a bang. It was a short ball from Rachin Ravindra and Stokes pulls it high over deep square.

England from this position will be hoping for another 100, minimum.
Ben Stokes scores the first two since the 20th over as he walks down and swats the ball over extra cover.
The timing isn't there but the ball lands safely.
The intent is definitely there for England now as we edge ever closer to the last 10 overs of the innings.

Buttler timed the half-century nicely. He has struck it as well as anyone today actually.
Half-century on his 33rd birthday.
Eng 180-3
A birthday half-century for Jos Buttler!
The 33-year-old brings up his 25th ODI fifty from 48 balls with a punch into the covers that is well fielded.

England just haven't been that aggressive. The reality is, they are going to need to hit twos to win the World Cup and Test cricket.
A single takes Jos Buttler to 49, he's suddenly scoring at more than a run a ball.
Meanwhile, the heat is getting to some in the crowd. There is a man in the crowd using a beer holder as a makeshift fan to cool down his grandfather.
