  1. SL 40-1published at 7 overs

    Athapaththu 23, Samarawickrama 6

Just a single from Kate Cross' over and she ends it with a beauty to beat Chamari Athapaththu all ends up.

The left-hander shaped to play as the ball angled in but was beaten as it nipped away before belatedly pulling the bat away.

That's a gorgeous shot, just sat up and punched into the boundary for four.

  3. SL 39-1published at 6 overs

The pace and bounce of Lauren Filer is causing Chamari Athapaththu a few problems.

No such issues as yet for Harshitha Samarawickrama, who punches the ball beautifully off the back foot, through the covers for four.

Lovely shot to get off the mark.

Sri Lanka's highest score in an ODI is 284-5 against India in the 2013 World Cup in Australia.

In England, Sri Lanka's highest ODI score was 257-9 against Australia. Chamari Athapaththu scored 178 not out.

  5. SL 32-1published at 5 overs

While Chamari Athapaththu is off to a flyer, Harshitha Samarawickrama is yet to get off the mark.

The left-hander plays and misses at one Kate Cross delivery before driving the last to the fielder at mid-off.

I want to see a bouncer from Kate Cross. That back of a length delivery is harder to get away than the fuller one, that's the length you want to be bowling.

  7. SL 31-1published at 4.1 overs

    Crunch!

Chamari Athapaththu gets a big stride in and nails a half-volley from Kate Cross through the off side for another boundary.

  8. SL 27-1published at 4 overs

Good over from Lauren Filer, just a single from it and drawing a couple of plays and misses from Chamari Athapaththu.

They were short, fairly wide deliveries but a bit of extra bounce prevented the Sri Lanka skipper from flaying them away.

England finally get the breakthrough they were after. Gunaratne was fishing outside the off stump. Not a great shot, it just tickles the outside edge.

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 3 overs

    Gunaratne c Jones b Cross 8 (SL 26-1)

    Edged and gone!

The first ball Kate Cross gets at the right-handed Vishmi Gunaratne and she gets the wicket.

It was hung out just outside off, Gunaratne pushed at it and feathered it through to Amy Jones.

  11. SL 25-0published at 2.4 overs

Chamari Athapaththu is in the mood.

Kate Cross is searching for swing, goes too full again and the angle across the left-hander gives Athapaththu the room to free her arms and drive handsomely through the covers again.

    Four more.

I would like England to stay aggressive bowling to Athapaththu as getting her out will be so important to how Sri Lanka play as a team.

  13. SL 21-0published at 2.2 overs

    The boundaries keep coming!

Chamari Athapaththu is waiting to punish any width from Kate Cross and hammers the ball through the covers again.

  14. SL 17-0published at 2 overs

Full and swinging delivery from Lauren Filer but it's too full, a half-volley really, and Vishmi Gunaratne is not going to miss out.

The Sri Lanka opener gets right over it and drills it through cover for four.

    Good start for the tourists.

  15. Not outpublished at 1.2 overs

    SL 13-0

Nowhere near the bat or the glove and England have lost a review early.

The noise was Vishmi Gunaratne hitting her front pad.

I think that's hit either glove or thigh pad.

  17. England reviewpublished at 1.2 overs

Lauren Filer sends the next ball down leg but does it come off the glove on the way through to Amy Jones?

Heather Knight thinks so and sends it upstairs.

  18. SL 13-0published at 1.1 overs

In Mahika Gaur's absence, Lauren Filer opens from the other end but it's a real loosener to start.

Too short, too wide and Vishmi Gunaratne cuts it away behind square for four.

Long term, I can understand England not playing Mahika Gaur, she is only 17 and she is such an asset, England need to protect her.

  20. SL 9-0published at 1 overs

Much better finish to the over from Kate Cross as she reels off four dot balls and finishes by beating Chamari Athapaththu outside off.

Just those two boundaries and a wide from the over.
