    Samawickrama c Davidson-Richards b Gaur 1 (SL 19-2)

Mahika Gaur gets in on the act!

Another lovely bit of bowling. A full, swinging delivery outside off stump draws a big drive from Samawickrama, finds the edge and Alice Davidson-Richards takes the catch at first slip.

It could unravel pretty quickly from here.

Sri Lanka are just about hanging in there. Chamari Athapaththu is playing and missing quite a lot. It's a big ask to chase this total down.

  3. SL 18-1published at 5 overs

    Target 274

A successful over for England and Lauren Filer, who continues to impress with her pace.

A wicket and just a single from the over as the pressure piles on Sri Lanka.

That has gone off her pads and on to the stumps but you would say Lauren Filer was trying to attack the stumps. She had a chat with her captain just before the over started and it would have been about that.

Fast, furious and lethal from Lauren Filer.

  6. wicket

    Sanjeewani b Filer 13 (SL 17-1)

Cleaned up! Lauren Filer gets England's first.

Full, fast and stumps splattered - every fast bowler's favourite sight.

It's going down leg side but Sanjeewani is nowhere near it, the ball rebounding off her pad and onto the stumps.

Chamari Athapaththu is on a different level to the rest of the Sri Lanka team in terms of how she contributes, how she plays her game and how much respect she has from the opposition. She is extremely consistent and powerful player. She can intimidate anyone. Athapaththu can find a boundary whenever she wants to. In the field too, her bowling is clever and think outside the box. She's a special player.

  8. SL 17-0published at 4 overs

Almost a breakthrough! Sanjeewani gets a bit of glove on a ball that balloons up and she has no idea where it is - but it just lands safely beside the stumps.

A steady start for Sri Lanka but most importantly, a wicketless one.

England are finding a lot of swing early doors here.

  10. SL 14-0published at 3 overs

Good response from Filer, beating the bat of Athapaththu with a beauty.

Decent pace and swing from England's new bowling pair at the moment.

  11. SL 13-0published at 2.1 overs

    Oh, lovely!

A shot of authority from Sanjeewani as she crunches Lauren Filer down the ground for four.

I suspect there will be a short ball incoming...

  12. SL 9-0published at 2 overs

    Target 274

Still a bright start from the ever-impressive Mahika Gaur as she beats the edge of Athapaththu's bat from the final two deliveries.

Goodness knows what Amy Jones heard.

No edge and England lose a review.

    Caught behind?

    Amy Jones is convinced.

The umpire not so much - and Gaur barely appeals either.

  15. SL 8-0published at 1.1 overs

Chamari Athapaththu is the only batter here who can really give Sri Lanka a sniff.

So she has to stay there, but she also has to score her runs quickly, which brings risk.

And she almost departs to Mahika Gaur's first ball as she edges one just over point for a single.

  16. SL 7-0published at 1 over

    Thanks, Tim.

It would be a record ODI run chase for Sri Lanka if they are to pull this off - so to do that in 31 overs would be absolutely incredible.

They start nicely, in fairness, with Chamari Athapaththu taking two runs from the first ball before Anushka Sanjeewani edges a streaky shot over the slips for four.

That flew, with Lauren Filer's pace.

I am particularly pleased for Maia Bouchier for coming into the side and taking her opportunity.

She played fantastically well. I've seen it in regional cricket where she has taken bowling attacks apart, and I think that would have given her a lot of confidence today to prove to herself that she could do it at this level.

She has never scored a century in any form of cricket, so I was very nervous for her in the 90s!

So she will be gutted but once she scores her first, she looks like she'll score several more.

Sri Lanka stuck at their task. England went from 211-2 in 24 overs to 273-8 in 31 overs.

Stellar knocks from Nat Sciver-Brunt (120) and Maia Bouchier (95) have put them in a commanding position to wrap up the series 2-0.

That is a daunting target in 50 overs, let alone 31 overs.

    It was exceptional.
