You feel Mark Adair and Harry Tector need a big partnership here.

  2. Ire 109-4published at 17 overs

Spin from both ends as left-arm spinner Tom Hartley is given his first bowl in international cricket. It's a solid start from the Lancashire man as he immediately settles into a disciplined rhythm.

George Dockrell and Harry Tector with a single apiece.

George Dockrell has now batted against England five times in ODIs and they have all been at different positions, No.6, No.7, No.8, No.9 and No.10. A gradual move up the order.

  4. Ire 107-4published at 16 overs

A full delivery from Rehan Ahmed to new batter George Dockrell skips off the pitch and beats the outside edge, prompting a stifled appeal from wicketkeeper Jamie Smith behind the stumps. Nothing on that, though.

Much tighter lines from Ahmed in that over. Just two singles from it.

Scrimshaw has always had pace. Zak Crawley has captained him really well. He's bounced back and repaid Crawley. That is a massive feather in Crawley's bow. He's had an interesting debut and he's got two wickets.

  6. Ire 103-4published at 15 overs

George Scrimshaw has 2-46 off six overs. He still doesn't look entirely happy with himself as he collects his cap from the umpire before walking to short fine leg.

Beaten for pace, it is slammed in. Not a short ball, not a bounce ball. A good reward for George Scrimshaw, because he has persevered.

    Tucker c Duckett b Scrimshaw 11 (Ire 103-4)

Slightly short from George Scrimshaw to Lorcan Tucker but the Irish wicketkeeper picks out Ben Duckett on the move and he dives to takes a fine catch.

Tucker could not quite get the elevation he wanted on that.

Scrimshaw allows himself to celebrate this one a little bit more. He's got his tail up now.

Harry Tector is still trying to working out T20 cricket. He's not mastered ODI cricket, but he's that good you can always count on him.

Harry Tector is currently fifth in the ODI batting rankings.

  12. Ire 102-3published at 14 overs

Rehan Ahmed has his chest pumped out and looks to be bristling with confidence at the top of his mark.

His second ball is meat and drink for Harry Tector, though, as the leg-spinner offers up too much width and the Irishman carves him behind square for four.

A more positive angle for George Scrimshaw's no-balls earlier is that it was only the third time in ODIs in England someone has bowled four no-balls in an over. The previous two were Jeff Thomson and Curtly Ambrose so he's in good company.

George Scrimshaw looks a lot happier with life at the moment, but has yet to really crank up the speeds beyond the early 80s.

Just two runs from his latest over draws a ripple of applause from the crowd at Trent Bridge as the Derbyshire man collects his cap from the umpire. They are willing him on here.

England captain Zak Crawley turns to spin for the first time take as Rehan Ahmed is thrown the ball.

That is such a good shot from Lorcan Tucker. It's such a good shot because he's very rarely someone who drives down the ground. He looks like someone who has really benefitted from his time in the Caribbean.

  16. Ire 92-3published at 12 overs

Lorcan Tucker and Harry Tector happy to largely sit in for the time being, it seems.

Brydon Carse hits some decent lengths but it's low-risk shots from the Irish pair until the England seamer's penultimate delivery is overpitched and he's driven stylishly down the ground by Tucker.

Meanwhile, he's how Matthew Potts dismissed Curtis Campher a few moments ago.

Is there a bit of Steven Finn with George Scrimshaw's bowling style? He has a short bowling stride and gets to the crease quickly. He has started to probe away outside off stump now. I remember having a nightmare on one of my England debuts.

  18. Ire 85-3published at 11 overs

Goerge Scrimshaw looks a little bit more comfortable bowling from the Pavilion End rather than the Radcliffe Road End.

Harry Tector and Lorcan Tucker with five singles but, from Scrimshaw's perspective, he'll be happy there were no no-balls.

George Scrimshaw with a, gulp, change of ends for England.
